  • This is a short video of The Sells House, but it is more familiarly known as The Circus House. Built in the early-mid-1890s, it encompasses a variety of styles influenced by the Sells family's travels. The house is located in the northwest corner of Goodale Park, in the Short North District of Columbus OH.
The reason for the nickname is because Peter Sells, the original owner it was built for, was one of the owners of the Sells Bros. circus. Over the years it has been used for a number of purposes, including a nursery school, a daycare and a place for recovering alcoholics. Currently it is back to a single-family house, and as I understand it, they will allow a tour of the place, though you have to contact them in advance.
I shot this as I was going to ComFest a couple weeks ago, and it looked like workmen was working on the sidewalk. Also, since cars were going in and out of the festival, I couldn't shoot from the street but had to do it from the sidewalk.
Still, even from the less-than-ideal spot, you can see the house in all it's weird glory. Really wish I could afford a place like this :)
I'll likely be back with a new video for Friday, featuring the Columbus Food Truck Festival. I hope you enjoy the video, and Thanks for Watching!
