If it could have gone wrong filming this excellent lock, I’d did 😭😭😭 still, I think what I finally got is a good video about a unique lock. Just look at that double key bitting! 😍😃👍🔐
There should not be balanced pinstack in the d2 as guideline is S5 in all chambers. Try to insert the short w pin in the front chamber to see the wings keep it from going all the way down to the warding. That is a great bump stop. All the expensive code cutting machines, can cut those keys directy from the blind code on the green plastic tag. And we use the same blind code to pin the cylinders using a decoding chart. It is a normal lock to deal with every day for a locksmith in the Ruko/assa/trioving areas
@@RuneInternational awesome info thanks. I’m pretty sure this is un modified, so maybe the balanced pin stacks are due to it being a smaller cam lock configuration?
@@LockNoobNo it is the normal RD1607 letterbox cylinder. The only ruko cylinders following special guidelines, is the old Ruko 205 smaller formal 5 pin industrial cylinders as you might have seen in my laundry room ruko calendar.
@@stopthephilosophicalzombie9017 Some pins have valid options with both the short and long part forward, and not all key combinations use 2 active contact points. As long as the pin sit at shear it opens. I go into more details in my Ruko videos. And more will follow
The double points on the key pins give mastering possibilities, the master key acts on one edge the servant key on both edges. This can allow mastering without master wafers/pins. Never underestimate Ruko/Assa.
Got this recommended, clicked the second I saw the series 1200. I've worked a bit as a locksmith in Denmark, and almost exclusively installed those locks when people needed replacements. They're not super cheap, but affordable. Didn't take long for me to swap my own lock for one of these beauties. As for cutting the keys, yea there's tools for that, and I'd recon a fair deal of locksmiths has a cutter for it. With the keys follows a green blank with a code on it. That translates to the pins used, so in my case, it was just fit a key, type in the code on the blank and hit start.
@@LockNoob Had a previous comment, it became a mess. I never did see stacked pins in the 1200 series. I found some pictures I took of a guide from Ruko on how to pin and decode the keys. Very well done on a "quite" paracentric keyway with well chosen picking strategy, as well as a good understanding of the lock. Those double shallow countermilling to grab the ASSA barrel spools adds to the "extra" fun. Rune International's comments are spot on.
Those key pins are really cool, they're similar to the chiseled pins in the Assa P600 but they have 2 cuts instead of just one (the P600 also has a crazy key). Very nice lock! I can't wait to get my hands on a Ruko one of these days.
Jesus Christ, those pins😳 what a lock. Also wanted to say that this video didn't came up in my subscription feed, but I got it in my recommendations after binging BosnianBill, again.
Wow! Some serious machining to create those pins! While picking, do you need to do anything to account for proper key pin rotation? Do the key pins "feel" different while picking?
there arre no pin rotation. only up/down. the pins are held in position by 2 guide cuts in each chamber and the magic wings on the pins. as those guide cuts are not in the bible, all pins are designed to make sure no wing at any time can get above the plug as it would jam the key
Any tips for dealing with the pins resting on the warding? I've tried using a thin half diamond just to get under the pins, but I usually just end up fumbling around in there.
Excellent job picking that nasty thing! You make it look easy! A remark on the driver-pins: On the Series 1200, according to Ruko, all driver pins should be a number 5. So the lock you have there is actually not pinned up as per the manufacturer’s documentation.
there are 6 pins and you set 6 pins. only you have 12 pin tips to move around for, and not all of them are all the way down at the warding. So blind picking is hard.
@@RuneInternational so, other than keying, and feeling around the pins, it's just a 6 pin lock. Just seems overly complicated without any significant benefit, beyond 'the pins aren't flat and even'
@@lostboytnt1 the number of possible keys combinations go up, and in masterkeying you have options of just matching one of of the contact points, as long as the other is lower, so the key is lifted to the right hight. Go watch my d12 intro video, for more details

Because in normal operation; the driver pins don’t ware against the key pin chambers that much - only when picking do the driver pins have heavy contact with the serrations
@Lock Noob I don't understand how you do it. I can't even lift 1 pin, no matter how hard I try. Unless you're applying feather light tension, I don't see how it's even possible.

So does this essentially add a higher degree of combinatorial complexity to the bitting?

Interesting... at least you’re here!
Excellent picking as usual sir! What an evil looking key, someone was angry at someone when they pinned that thing up! 👍🏻👍🏻
Lol
Yes that looks like an interesting lock to pick with all those ingredients👌You did made it look easy, so you clearly did a great job at picking it👍🔓
Thanks 🙏
What an interesting way of doing the lock pins - very nasty looking to pick

A very nice lock indeed, such amazing engineering 😍thanks for sharing mate 😁🙏👍

I had a hell of a time picking one of these... I have only succeeded once, probably pure luck!
They are tough!
Great job & cool lock my friend.
Thanks 😊

Hi bud what a interesting lock 🔐👍
Sure is!
Brilliant video.. 👍

Awesome picking on that Ultra nasty key way!!!! And don’t forget the nasty pins and drivers!!!
Wonderful!!!!

nice picking mate 👍🔑
Thanks 🙏
This lock is brutal
What a fantastic lock that is 😎

Suspicious, lock was swapped! Just kidding, excellent work. Given me some ideas for pins.

imagine putting that back together with those key pins 180° out..
Yeah! Who would do that 😅😅😅😅
I like this lock 🔒😅
Me too!
very very nice pick - but nasty nasty keyway! looks very open but that's so deceiving!
For sure!

Correct me if I'm wrong but since they're both on the same pin, don't you only have to set half of them?

I was thinking this about the blind picking. I would find it, very very difficult to do without the key. With some locks probably impossible

Have you picked it?

What a diddy pinning tray.
It’s cute for sure!
I desperately want one of those!
There's at least one for sale on ebay usa

Is there any Lishi tool that can fit into this lock?
I'd just call it the dolphin lock due to all the clicking!
Lol

Yeah, identical 👍
perfect thanks!
Now they just call it the ASSA d12 Series 1200. No Ruko branding.
Ahh, cool!
How long did it take you to practice opening that?
I pinned it progressively so about an hour.
@@LockNoob ahh clever 👍 thanks
The key isn't actually that hard to cut. It can be done on a normal keycopyer with a spacial vise...
So lishi have a decoder for Ruko ??
I don't understand why they make core serrations in brass, eventually they'll be smoothed out o_O
I don't expect anodized tungsten cores but why untreated brass versus hardened steel pins :p

Ruko are hard, no joke. It took me a long time to learn to pick them. I’m sure you’ll get there with it though, it’s a fun challenge this hobby!
@@LockNoob Well, I did get there. Thank you for your encouragements ^_^

Have one D1200, and I cant for the love of god, reach the 2 pins in the back. I'm buying some flags with the next paycheck, I want try out.
It’s a tough keyway for sure!
