    thank you for explaing the reason to why we need to flip it. you say, its not neccessary to know but its like math class, where you learn the long way how to solve a problem and then the teacher shows you the shortcut and you are like why didnt you just show that to us from the beginning. its to make sure you understand what is going on in the background in the shortcut , so thank you.
    p.s. im glad tracking is available finally in FCPX without any plugins

    Thanks for the video, is it possible to stop the frame from going off the edge of the video whilst using this effect?

    • @RCodyWanner
      @RCodyWanner  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      yes -- so once this who process is finished, select everything, right click, and hit "create new compound clip" -- once the clip is created, go over to scale, and increase the size until the clip is no longer going off the edge.
      another option would be to "mirror effect" the edges, i explain that process here: th-cam.com/video/snESVMfrE04/w-d-xo.html
      if you are able, of course, you can re-shoot, and zoom out or stand back further, so that you give your subject more room in the frame

      i haven't figured out a way to do that easily in FCP, no -- if you're willing to jump into resolve (it's easy, i give you my word) then you'll likely be able to get it done there! th-cam.com/video/J8w1OgAdJeE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Csbw9s-OV-rF6CLh

    • @RCodyWanner
      @RCodyWanner  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      yes to do this, scale your bottom clip, the one you are analyzing for the object track, down to 50%.

    I followed the instructions, but there is only one thing I noticed. My clip is somewhat zoomed in and is no longer in the original scale once I've done the tracking as outlined in the video here. Is this avoidable?

    • @RCodyWanner
      @RCodyWanner  หลายเดือนก่อน

      so you'll need at least a little zoom in, to give the clip room to move around in the frame -- but create a new compound clipped with everything there and then zoom that compound clip out a little bit and see if that looks better to you

  • @mauich
    @mauich ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Cody! I've used the stabilization technique a few times successfully, but I'm having an issue trying a variation of it.
    do you know of a way of making the tracker only track the X axis? or at least have the transform only apply to that axis? I'm trying to stabilize some footage that I'm happy with the Y axis but the subject moves from side to side and I want to keep it dead center. I've tried abunch of things but can't seem to get it to work.

    • @RCodyWanner
      @RCodyWanner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      good question - how long is the clip - might have to just do it manually - i use that method here, just only key frame Y th-cam.com/video/cNA2UvgIkq4/w-d-xo.html

    • @mauich
      @mauich ปีที่แล้ว

      it's only 15 seconds, so not too bad, I tried doing it manually with the crop feature in stead of transform, and it ended up a little bit jittery as whats actually moving is the camera, so the parallax/perspective changes are quite noticeable if not perfect... ill try again the way you did it
      Thank you so much for the reply and for the stabilization discovery!

    • @RCodyWanner
      @RCodyWanner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if too jittery, only use a key frame every 3 or 4 frames -- smooth it out a little

      when you click on the little arrow next to the "object tracker", is "scale" checked? if so, uncheck that

    how would you do this with vertical video?

    • @RCodyWanner
      @RCodyWanner  ปีที่แล้ว

      the same way, just remember to leave enough space around your subject so that you have room to move the frame around in post

    Whenever I play back the video for some reason it shows partial of the flipped clip at the end of the slide how do I fix this ?

    • @RCodyWanner
      @RCodyWanner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the clip on top needs to be bigger, so that it doesn't slide over far enough to reveal the clip on the bottom

      @@RCodyWanner also the object tracker is not locking on it’s making me have to seriously move it by key frame ? This will take me days how come it can’t automatically lock on );

      @@MCQUEENFIT normally if it can't lock on, it's because the object doesn't have any high contrast distinctive elements. Another thing that can happen is something crosses in front of the object you are tracking, and the tracker gets confused

    Why -130 0:27

    • @RCodyWanner
      @RCodyWanner  ปีที่แล้ว

      you need it to zoom in (so that's why 130 instead of 100) and you need it to flip both horizontally and vertically, so that's why negative.
