The glo bettas have been discontinued I believe.
The main problem with them was apparently they had too small a genetic pool, they just got more and more interbred. I don't know why they didn't start with a larger genetic base, I seem to think they had more trouble getting the glo to glo. So they had to keep breeding back to the original female.
I did a lot research on these earlier in the year.
In the UK all glofish are banned.

      *inbred, not interbred.

I got into fish keeping two years ago. I bought two glo skirt Tetras. I can honestly say they are absolutely beautiful and the fish that everyone comments on when they look at my tank. I'm not sure I would buy them again now that I've been in the hobby for a while but I still think they are pretty and I enjoy them.
Regarding sponge filters. I understand what you are saying but for myself, I absolutely hate them. They are ugly, hard to hide and the worst part is they have bubbles that burst on the surface that make my glass lid filthy. Just not for me.

Hey Jason and Joanna! Great live stream as always you two
If anyone is ever unwilling to help watch your tanks while you’re away, offer them a plate of delicious char siu pork and roast duck.
That is an offer most will not refuse, especially since a lot of your tanks are planted or have high nitrate uptake abilities (waldstad, uncle ka kakemoji method, gaspari valdalicci method)
I have used this method twice in the past.
Go to a good Chinese place and pick up a plate of half roast pork and half roast duck, with fried rice.
Give it to someone you trust in trade for watching your tanks while you’re away
    Worked both times
    Goodluck!

Can you imagine a hybrid kuli loach and shrimp? Obviously not possible but it would be really cool, cute and a little creepy, especially if they had the glo gene 😀

Hi guys love your streams all the fish in the African great lakes are formed from hybridization over many many years you have to actually put this in perspective

    Great stream.
We've had one Jason, yes. But what about second Jason?
I don't think he's heard of second Jason, Pip.

I have the Nano Pro 250 on my 10g shrimp tank, and I'll never buy another filter again, in fact, I bought a second Nano Pro 250 just for a back -up if needed.

Do you have any insights on the hardiness of alien bettas? I got one recently hoping that since they are a hybrid, he will he a bit sturdier than the other bettas.

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics
      @PrimeTimeAquatics  หลายเดือนก่อน

They seem about the same as all other bettas?

Disabled fish, like fancy goldfish or balloon varieties, are animal abuse. Instant no from me.
Hybrid fish? Absolutely not. Yeah, they exist naturally, but not at the same rate that we produce them in captivity. Nature already made animals beautiful, why change that? I will never advocate for purposely breeding for hybrids. Blood parrots are a great example of how abusive and unnatural it can be.
I almost always stick to wild-type fish/shrimp. Captive varieties don't really look appealing to me at all.
