You are spot on about them being aggressive! I had a weather loach that got big sores on his “cheeks”. Turned out my BN was sparring with him! Poor guy. I felt awful. I moved the WL into another tank and he’s fabulous now. ❤
Thank you for this video! I always wanted a bristlenose pleco but never pulled the trigger. After your video I went to my lfs today and finally got one! 😊
If aggressive behaviour is happening with Bristle-noses at feed time sometimes it’s not enough food for them minimum twice a week I put 1 algae tablet per 2 fish in the tank so no starvation is occurring, I have Tropheus in my tank so there is a mix of algae grazing fish in my system..
Standard bristlenose pleco tend to be a bit hardier I have found. Or else in the past I have had super reds and albino before and because they stand out every time they become a target or target smaller fish. That always puzzled me but seeing how territorial they can be I see how it can lead to bother aggression and triggering other fish in attacking them. Or else I’m more inclined to go with larger types because they both blend and are way more likely to thrive in almost any environment. I have 4 high fin pleco, 2 are 12”+ and are tanks. Thats my experience at least, stay happy and healthy my friends!
I've had a total of six adult Bristlenose Plecos over the years (4 currently) in 20 and 30 gallon tanks. Of those, half (1 male and 2 females) have shown significant aggression toward other fish species (Goldfish, a Bolivian Ram and Corydoras).
I have both 4 common Ancistrus, 4 Longfinn Red Ancistrus and 2 - L144 Blue Eyed Longfinn Ancistrus... Not in the same tanks. I love them all. Easy to breed and they clean a lot in my tanks together with my Sulewesi snails and shrimps. By the way... I love U´r Channels... Love from Angel from Denmark (Scandinavia)
By the way... could you make a video about Silver Flying Fox.... I have 9 in some tanks. It is an awesome algea-eater..... and good with small fish - and Angels and Gouramies. Merry X-mas
@@PrimeTimeAquatics - I was thinking of Crossocheilus reticulatus - I know there are many different algae eaters of same kind.... but this one only herbal and don´t eat other. I have tried to get mine to breed.... nothing yet, though I have had them for years.
I keep 3 varieties of bn, and 7 L# colonies... super reds are always out. L129s fear nothing. 397s are always hiding. The rest are somewhere in between. My 134 colony is very food aggressive.
I had a resin made fake log where my jaguar catfish lived. I had a common pleco go in there, get stuck and die, trapping the jaguar cat. Because both were consistent hiders, I did not realize the pleco had died until the water started clouding up. I pulled the fake wood, found the dead pleco, and tried to extract it. I couldn't do it. It was locked in tight. I was sad and a little mad that I had lost both fish and in frustration, I chucked it out into the backyard, into the snow. 5 to 10 minutes later, I went out and got it cut it in half, between the two fish. Pushing the pleco through worked. However, while trying to fish the jaguar cat out, it bit me. Low and behold, it was still alive! That was quite an adventure for him, that I'm sure he's still telling his tank mates to this day. 😂
That’s so sad! But completely understandable how it went unnoticed. I’ve taken almost all the hides out of my tanks and only have rocks and wood for this very reason.
Do they trash you'd scape kept clown plecs before among others and panaque, gibbiccep?t ect always messed up my scapes even the clowns moved over to ottos but keep seeing bristles in scapes ?
Where I am in South Central Pa, a common goes for $6-8 and the fancier ones go for $12+. Also I do have a blue eyed lemon that does insist on being out all the time, day and night.

❤❤❤ Merry Christmas, Prime Time Aquatics, and all you Prime Time Primate Partners!!! ❤❤❤
You too!
Retired 12 years ago so I’m always on Vacation. Love it !

Have fun!
Bristlenose plecos are one of my favorite fish to keep. I have them in every tank and love having pleco babies.
Merry Christmas from here in Australia looking forward to the next stream always very educational
Glad you are here!
❤❤❤ Merry Christmas, PTAquatics, and Partners!!! Happy New Year!!!❤❤❤
Merry Christmas!
Gravel substrate is no problem for me. Plecco’s are constantly breeding and they love it. Weekly 30% water changes and heavily planted tanks.
Hey!!! You DID say Mery Christmas! My bad. 😂 What you need to remember is, I'm deaf in one ear, and I can't hear out of the other, so... 🤷🤣
I've got congo Tettras with my Discus a great combo they get along just fine

Everyone should have a few Bristle Nose in their tanks. I love mine.

I currently have 6, I love them!
Nice!

Thank you! I did one on the Siamese algae eater. 😀

The Common Pleco is pretty much out and about all the time, but maybe that's just because they're too big to hide.
Am I able to keep 10 Adolphi cories and 15 rummynose rasbora in a 10 gallon for a couple months until I get my 75 gallon set up?
I might just go with 5 for now and then use the 10 gallon as a QT tank once the 75 gallon is ready. Then get the other five?

do you think a bristlenose would be ok in a 40 breeder with only multis in it? There are lots of big rocks for hiding places.
I have that combo and it works just fine.
I don’t trust BN with my shrimp anymore after 40 blue dream shrimp slowly disappeared in the tank. Two BN also lived with the shrimp.
How can i preorder for the fish swap?
Our website will be updated 4-5 days before the swap. I’ll send a message out when it is and people preorder from the website! Thank you!

Well that stinks!

They can uproot plants that’s aren’t deeply rooted yet.
All of my tanks are 40g or bigger so every tank will have at least one going forward
