- disclaimers--- I said this in the vid but I'll say it again- GRAPHOLOGY IS VERY CONTROVERSIAL but I've been studying it independently for a while now and I find it very useful and I wouldn't share this video if I didn't find the handwriting traits that I'm talking about to have high accuracy rates. But if you want to be a hater, that is alright, you wouldn't be the first.
Other disclaimers, these traits are all INDICATORS not facts, so you really have to look at how all the indicators in someone's writing stack up to really make a solid hypothesis about a writer. And even so, handwriting analysis still only describes what the writing would indicate, it doesn't necessarily describe the writer.
DISCLAIMER ABOUT LEARNING DISABILITIES IMPACTING HANDWRITING--- So I'm still learning about this and testing hypotheses about this myself, but what the internet says for specifically dysgraphia is that the writing will often exhibit: Letters that slant in different directions,
A jumble of upper- and lower-case letters and A mix of printing and cursive. But I will say, I've definitely seen ppl with dysgraphia that don't have these traits in their writing, so I'm still working on my own hypotheses on it but what I've found so far is for the most part, graphology traits will still be mostly accurate regardless if someone has a learning disability or not, but also know that the traits that impact legibility might more be due to the disability rather than the writer's personality or emotional state. hope that makes sense lol but I am planning on making a vid exploring this topic further if ur interested :D

crossed z's are pretty common in mathematics and sciences, to avoid confusion with 2's
particularly in mathematics, it is a common polish replacement for uncrossed z, and several polish mathematicians made great strides in the early 20th century, with x,y,(crossed)z commonly used symbols

I think Z is also symbol for "integer", and because z and capital Z is look pretty much the same, people often cross the normal z and bolden the "/" part of the Z

lower case z is used more often as the 3rd dimension coordinate/variable or arbitrary complex number
I was taught to write the z with that bar, not just in mathematical context, but generally (I'm from Germany).
Also, I know many people writing it like that as well, so it seems to be normal that way here. I'd say it's rather atypical not to cross the z's...

I was born a lefty. I was taught to be a righty.
My right handed writing is very controlled, orderly, and small. I also get pain when I write for an extended period of time. I’ll often erase the writing in areas that do not meet my expectations for what it should look like.
When I write left handed, there is almost no consistency. I hardly ever erase because I know it’s too bad to be fixed. I have a hard time writing in a straight line, and the letters bounce up and down constantly.
I avoid using pens for writing because I love to fix mistakes, and it’s much harder to fix pen mistakes.
I’m also an artist. I often draw right handed because I have so much more control when using a pencil. When drawing, I’ll “ghost draw” most of the lines I make; floating my hand above the page, practicing the lines I make before I draw them. I do this unconsciously at this point.
Okay this is weird because this is me in every way, although I rarely use my left because it takes longer. It doesn’t actually doesn’t look that bad but I never take the time to wright with my left.
@@itsliviy I didn’t figure out that I was left handed until high school. It wasn’t until after that point when I started trying to write/draw left handed.
in the first graded of elementary school I could write with both hands, but had a preverence for left. My teachers made me write with right and now unfortunatly, I can't write with left anymore. I still use my left hand for other thing, like using knifes and I also use a bow or a guitar in a left handed manner.
I was also born a lefty, but when I realized that everyone around me was doing things with their other hand. So now I'm a righty

You mentioned accuracy rates a couple times and that really peaked my interest! I'd love you to do a video just on the topic of accuracy, to identify which theories are the most respected and prove to be the most consistent and reliable.
Because I've watched several of these kinds of videos from various different creators and I've noticed that frequently the source materials across the channels don't match each other and they give conflicting interpretations. I've also seen them explain the interpretations for attributes of my own writing and they were in no way accurate to identifying the who I am.
So it seems it's definitely more of an art than a science type of thing, and it's imperative that you're making interpretations using the correct references. I'd love to know which "methods" have shown to have the most accuracy to give me more confidence in my own efforts!
Something interesting i just remembered:
When we were being taught cursive in school some of us were actively taught to do the insecurity loops in our bs ts and ls, some of us were just taught to do them with our Ls, etc.
So would that still indicate insecurity if they still did the loops way later in life? or do you have to take that into consideration in regions where that’s taught?

Yes, same question! My German teacher tought me to write so, however German isn't my native language and I still write the same way in both English and German
If you make a conscious effort to make the insecurity loops till they become a habit, they may affect you. But if you just let it be and write it from the top of your head, there is no problem.
I would say if you were taught that, then it doesn't count as insecurity. What matters is the way you alter what you've been taught. Like if you make the "normal" loop bigger or smaller. So if you make it larger than you have been taught, then yes it can be an insecurity loop :) But this is just what makes sense for me

What if a "g" or a "y" are just a straight line down, no loop/hook/anything? Just a straight line down.
I double this. I often write these letters like that too
if the pressure is light, I often find it indicates sexual restlessness/anxiety, but if the pressure is firm, it can be an indicator of frustration/stubbornness. hope that helps!!

@@fatimashaikh7201 I read someplace that slanted t-bars are read kind of like the baseline, an upward slant indicating optimism and a downward slant pessimism. Not sure about the i thing though, sorry.
love this! i for ages thought my t-bars indicated high self-esteem because they were often really high, but this video got me to look for more consistency and i noticed they’re only high when they’re next to the letter h, because i have really threaded writing (lmao i hope that’s the right phrasing) and my letters connect a lot because it’s quite fast
I tried to find what my t-bar looks like at the end of words or when next to As and other letters it doesn’t really blend into and it’s very much in the middle and the bar is only on the right of the t, which is very different to what i’d been thinking it indicated before!
Pleaseeee do Britney Spears! There is a very emotional letter she managed to leak to the press in like 2008, during her conservatorship. I know very little, but I can tell she has a lot of traits.

I personally think that it's even more intriguing because it's a pseudoscience. What I mean is that since there is no verified, hard and fast rules for it, it makes it even more interesting and rewarding to discover patterns. I like that you have to use your people skills and intuition while doing it.
Handwriting analysis I feel like is a very case by case thing, there's no one size fits all to graphology, yet there are some general trends found by people like Leah and those that have come before her who have analysed many people's handwriting before. So yeah you gotta use your intuition and inference skills when analysing handwriting as well, which I love.
I do agree tho that people shouldn't take graphology as the absolute truth, and people should refrain from passing judgements on people solely from their handwriting, because that's really dangerous. I think that Leah should start adding a disclaimer in text at the start of her videos in order to prevent this, even though I think she has mentioned a lot that the handwriting doesn't necessarily describe the writer themselves, it's just an indicator. She should add a disclaimer directly in her videos to make it even clearer, since some people don't bother to read the description.
Also it would prevent her from a lot of future headaches from people flaming her in the comments about this lol
If you’re interested, i have a few letter-specific traits I’d like a second opinion on?
- Capital Bs where the middle doesn’t connect, almost like a D
- Lowercase “i”s where the dot is sometimes a circle and sometimes a dot? I read it like the writer used to have the immature i circles but has matured and the circles are still sometimes there out of habit, or maybe they aren’t fully done maturing?
- Lowercase t-bars are only on the right of the line, indicating eagerness, but capital Ts are bigger and have more on the left than the right?
- Us don’t have the stem, they just look like round Vs
- Letters in the lower zone go down way to the left, like a forward slant but only underneath
- Fs that are loopy only in the upper zone, no other letter has the loopy thing (no insecure ds or ts)
- lowercase “i”s have barely any lower line, sometimes it’s even smaller than the dot, sometimes it isn’t even there
- Lowercase Hs often have very small humps, sometimes even looks like a capital L
This is all from the same writer btw, if that helps with trait stacking

this is just my thoughts I AM NOT WAY AN EXPERT AT ALL I'm just applying what I know from other traits to these:
-the B's maybe it could be like K's where their creativity might not impact others, people dont understand their creativity (not too sure about this one) it also affects the middle zone so could be something weird with their day to day social life
-the T bars could mean they're maybe more hesitant, could be writing slow
-the U's I think I heard in another video it means intelligence and possibly independence (making that up from other trait in the I's) I've noticed that it also means immaturity a lot of times
-F's I wouldnt worry about if the traits dont stack up
-the lower zones could mean sexual forwardness
-for the H's if they affect the middle zone there could be something weird with the social day to day part of their life. this applys for the issue with the i's as well
that's all I got.. THESE ARE PURELY MY OPTIONS I am not an expert at all and I'm not even sure if these are real traits

if it is a non-arcade writing, that a indicates someone who tries to stand out the crowd and/or tries to have a different personality than the "norm"
Personally, I have non-arcade writing but I do draw my a's as if my writing was arcade

Does that specify evolution in personality?

Yeah, in the past when my crush told me to not write my ys with a curl at the bottom, it made me really self-conscious and I wrote them like that (just two straight lines) for a year or so until I finally stopped liking him and now I write them with pretty big loops.

12:12 - idk where it comes from but my dad taught me to dash my z's, 7's, and zeros to help distinguish them from other letters & numbers. I usually don't, but when I'm taking the time to make my handwriting legible I'll sometimes do that.
Also, could you do a video on punctuation if it's significant? Like commas, periods, etc.

I asked my parents if I could use their handwriting to study graphology and I realized my dad wrote his "y"s different in a word relating to his job. It repeats when he wrote the same word but it doesn't happen in any other words. Is it safe to assume those traits relate to him only regarding his job???

@@LeahEckardt He usually has an average-sized loop on his y's lower zones but when he writes the word "sedye" (which means a stretcher used for medical reasons in Turkish he is a doctor btw) his y's go straight down parallel to his usual slant
checking back on it I just realised the lower zone of his y also shortens when he does that

The last 'z' is from French and Russian cursive as much as I know and the crossed z is a way some Polish people are writing the letter 'ż' (sometimes for aesthetic sometimes to differentiate from 'ź' - depends on the person who is writing)
I think that some traits might indicate someone's nationality rather than his personality.
For example, I saw that in the U.S. people ussualy write the letter "r" just like this (check out the signature of president John Tyler) while in Europe we learn to write the letter "r" like the greek "pi". Also, in Europe we learn to write forward sland by default.
Also, people back then used to learn some letters quite different, for example if you'll serach the handwriting of people from the 19th ceuntury like Napoleon, Thomas Jefferson or James Madison you'll see that all of them used to write a very long t-bar
i agree w this so much! as a brit, I’ve been taught to do the loopy f’s and I’ve been taught to do the g’s with the bottom line very looped to go into the next letter, which she didn’t mention at all! it’s really surprised me how different the mindsets are depending on where you came from n what you were taught
I wish my teacher in primary saw this video. Like we had to write the c hooked for cursive writing. Ye, if our handwriting looks too small, no looping, too big, no space, too much space, too slanted to the right of left, too straight, not straight(like the lines not the letters), not joining or not having the curves in the end, our assignments were rejected. So, alot of my classmates have similar handwritings as it was drilled into use during childhood and even in high school (though it is not as strict for the new generations). So, I'm confuse if my handwriting is actually me or just myself trying to write in cursive, especially during those days...
Some of these traits are taught in calligraphy books, at least in my country, like the looped "h", probably 80% (totally made up number) of my country's population has their "h" looped like that
A lot of these are taught and I think that's one of the reasons graphology is interesting in theory, but is about as reliable as astrology to understand people. I write certain letters depending on what's easiest with my tremors and it's cool to think what ppl could come up with from a sample of that mess, but that's it. I'd never be able to take it too seriously aside from that

hello, i have noticed that when i see handwritings of people that are more logical thinking a lot of the traits that they have in their handwriting aren't true. For example, I see a person writing their words and letters really closely, i have asked them about their relationship to other people and their emotions and stuff like that (they are usually very honest about it, from what i know) but they say that they write like that to fit more words onto the page, because they think logically about it. It's very interesting, sometimes it's very aggravating if i want to know them and their personality and mental state. but other than that, thank you for creating these videos. they give me a sense of comfort knowing i can tell if a person is okay, and if they are not i can try to be there for them. thank you Leah ! :D
I remember that in one of her subscriber handwriting analysis videos that she said that someone who fills up the whole page means that they are frugal. Maybe it's kind of similar here? Of course it really depends on context and what the rest of your analysis shows, then you can infer from there

Thanks a million! I just love learning this stuff. The more detail the better. I've looked at more handwriting than most ppl have and can def say handwriting reveals the individual. How could it not?!! I would look at handwriting and immediately get a "hit" of what the person was like in a general sense.

Hey Leah! For F's I've noticed that the printed F has alot of common traits with the printed T. The bar on the F usually is more to do with self esteem and a t is more to do with how high they set the bar. You can use F's and T's together to really get a sense of how someone feels about themselves (along with the upper or lowercase I)
Also, I am curious as to what a loop (like a loop in the D) means in a p? Is it the same as a d? I wonder this because it's more of a lower zone letter.

Hello! I'm Latvian and we have letters like ī, č, ģ, š, ā, ū, ķ... etc. I sometimes loop ī together with the t. I know we have one handwritting specialist in Latvia. I really want her to analyse my writing someday. It has changed A LOT during my teenage years, but since high-school it hasn't changed. Also in Latvian you never write ' I ' when referring to yourself with a capital letter. Also when we learn English at school we have to write in a different cursive style. We write cursive letters a bit differently than in Latvian. That's also interesting.
You should do content on analyzing handwritten letters telling us what kind of person they are and then reveal who it is and what they did towards the end of video. It would be interesting to watch that kind of series.

Anyone knows what does a "p" with a loop on the left mean? I just noticed how I just make HUGE loops in my p's and I wondered if that meant?
I believe when analyzing handwriting we can not say what a trait mean without context. However, loops in general, just like Leah said, mean insecurity and it can also means fear of criticism. Hope this helps! :D

p's with a loop on the left from the lower zone basically indicates desire for more physical activity - this could be sexual but also traveling, exercising, etc.
-> it's more evident if there are big loops in the lower zone

My handwriting is always changing. I don't know what that says about me but it's really interesting how handwriting can explain a person
I learned a lot of this information in the police academy back in the 70s
And by the 90s the thought process on hand writing had a lot more interpretation and deeper and yet moved further left wing and it expanded the NORMAL RANGE by a lot.
Just FYI from real life experience of 43 years in law enforcement. I hand writing expert in general vs. A CIA or FBI expert were pretty close in the 70s and by the 90s a big difference...and now in 2022 it's a large gap.
I have been told by professors and long time experts that it's a good tool among many tools and should never be used solo and I agree.
However if body language, clothing statements, actions and deeds and hand writing are very simular of 80% or better it's a great match...
Single it's max at 20% and has little weight.

Do you think where the writer lives/learnt to write has a larger impact on which letter traits can be used? For example, I think in thr USA they don't teach cursive writing in school, but in Europe (at least here) that's the only kind they teach, and for example that hook in the C is the official way to connect it in cursive writing, so I'd think maybe it has an impact on writing enough to not necessarily be realistic?
Also, that Z you didn't know about is the written lowercase cyrillic з (which is pronounced like a Z tho)
But the ‘C’ was the first letter-there was no need for a hook, as it wasn’t connected in the front…

Note on high-stem p's: there are some older forms of cursive where such a feature is a standard trait, particularly Spencerian script and the derived Palmer cursive that was taught in American schools well into the 1950s.
I have this thing that I've noticed I do and I wanted to ask you about it.
So basically, I've noticed that whenever I finish a word, I always add a super long swish to the last letter (excluding i, o, p, and q, and sometimes h, n, m, and z). It's extremely consistent.
I think it's altruism/ desire for attention

all my lower zones go straight down. they dont loop or go back up. just a line down. pretty aggresive and sharp. what could that mean?
im not exactly sure, i only know that a y that goes straight down would indicate that the writer is more of a loner, so maybe that applies to the other parts of the lower zone as well?

Hey Leah, a suggestion for a video series: I really enjoy watching your videos and have since become more aware of people's handwriting. What may be very valuable might be a video series where you go through a specific part (e.g. margins) and explain what there is to know. Really as a ressource to look stuff up. I find myself often remembering that you said something about topic XY and what the traits mean and would really like to go back and rewatch but more often than not I can't remember in which video you said that and I give up.

fascinating what you said about how if the g loop is big it can represent wanting power. I know it's a fictional character but it reminded me a lot of amy dunne from gone girl. she has those big loops in her g's and y's. I know this cuz I remember thinking how pretty her handwriting was. but uh clearly you're onto something cuz she is very much a character who wants power and uses her sexuality to hurt others. I don't know if it was done consciously by the director/actress but it's certainly there
Have people been able to guess zodiac signs from how people write? I’m a Taurus, and when you were talking about how one demonstrates their need for pleasure (which Taurus are all about that), the traits you described fit me. It’d be so cool to see someone try to guess zodiac signs through writing, even just to see how close you could get

I write with a felon’s claw. When I was in middle school, I saw someone else’s writing with that feature. I thought it looked cool, so I deliberately added it to my writing.

For my own writing I write in a way where the letters connect and create (sometimes) weird angles or loops, my o is tiny and my lowercase n look a lot like a u and vice versa

super interesting! one thing I’ve always wondered about my writing is the meaning of how I write my g’s and y’s. My lowercase g’s are completely unconnected, to the point where they look identical to how I write my lowercase s. My y’s, on the other hand are crossed, to the point they look like x’s. Maybe this is just me, but I’ve always wondered if this means something?

im pretty sure its the exact same thing! as long as the handwriting you're trying to analyze uses the same letters as english you should be good to go :)
@@krifel912 Thanks for answering! I’m from Thailand, we write in Thai and when we have to write English, people here usually write in print. So I kinda have hard time trying to figure out how to analyze both Thai language handwriting and printed handwriting (since the traits that can be found in cursive writing aren’t there). As far as I know, there are some traits that can still be taken in account such as, size, slant, baseline, etc. But there are still some tips and tricks I believe I have no clue about (I’m still a beginner hehe). And I’m also curious about how to analyze Korean handwriting! From what I’ve known so far, Korean letters and syllables stack each other up into boxes, so the zones are not quite there to look at. So I think it would be very cool and useful video if Leah made one!

I got really interested in graphology in japanese writing, it DOES exist but it was quite difficult to find any kind of documentation online or just info in general lol (+ I don't speak Japanese at all lmfao)

The z you were wondering about is a capital z in cursive in Canada also.
What would it mean if someone has concerning traits *only* in their signature? My mom writes her ‘t’ with multiple felons claws, but that isn’t in her normal handwriting. Could that mean anything?
My Step Mother was very angry and abusive, and had very unique and abnormal handwriting. I can totally believe that hand writing gives a lot away about a person.
When you have two handwritings depending on the situation and/or person who’s going to read it. I have really ‘nice’ ‘elegant’ ‘loopy’ ‘swirly’ handwriting when it’s a letter, or something I have to write for teachers or you know something special. But if I’m studying it’s like typewriting and in my school books also.
This is making me realize just how weird my handwriting is, LOL. My F's all have a tail in zone 3, my lowercase d and g letters are made using a single line (no loops, and g starts at the tail) and I do like to cross the capital letter Z because I think it looks pretty.
Crossed Z can also mean the letter [ż] in Polish handwriting. It's one of the specific Slavic fonems, can be written in English as [zh].

I’m a year late but I just found you on my feed. I make my Z with the dash in the middle purely to never get it confused with 2’s because I took a 3 year drafting class and that’s how we were taught. I also put a / though my zeros as well for the same reason.
I used to write a "y" as a u, and then after teaching English in Taiwan for a year, I have since written it as a v! I was told it was not how it was in the textbooks, and since then, 20 years ago and half my life, I have a v style "Y", both capital and lower-case! I kinda want to get my old style back, so will try really hard to write a u style y from now on!

I’ve started paying a lot more attention to people hand writing at work. But also you forgot x! 😭 I only care because my name is Lexy and I feel I put a lot of emphasis on them especially in my signature. I also think I have to perfect letter for you to analyze.
That weird letter C top curl happening I’ve always cringe seeing that in my classmates’ handwriting or anyone at school when I see that on paper it really makes my skin crawl and now I just saw it again I had the same reaction! So strange but that was just one of my pet peeves before I don’t know why it’s so specific
So I noticed that one of my teachers handwriting has d's that go backward instead of straight or forward. Does this indicate anything?

My g's and y's have a normal size loop, but sometimes angle, and often break. And I loop it into the upper zone behind and then OVER the top of the letter or the word for fanciness because I feel my writing is so poor it's all I really got in my favor LOL
I did once right an entire page of information on a lineless paper for my boss as she was talking and we were both impressed how perfectly straight it was, and it was a full page. I was proud lol
Gonna write out the alphabet and analyise myself.
Results;
a - Almost but not completely closed. Quiet/non talkative.
b - No weird things going on up top, but lower section isnt completely closed.
c - Curled in on itself at the top in a downward facing hook. Probably a serial killer tbh.
d - Smol loop on the d but only in cursive, not present in spaced writing. A lil insecure. But no serial killer forward slants here so maybe not a serial killer tbh.
e - Pretty compressed top portion. Closed off.
f - Small loop at the top. Frustrating in my thinking patterns tracks.
g - Big long hook, only as wide as the o and the o is quite smol. Long but thin... Ladies?
h - Nothing wrong here.
i - Dot is pretty close to the i. Detail oriented.
I - Big boi I looks more like a thin tall Z. Probably unorthodox and overconfident.
j - As much space taken as the g and the dot is identical to the i.
k - Is lower case, little curvy boy. Not likely to have issues with authority.
L, m and n - No abnormalities, curvy when in cursive otherwise straight lines.
o - all closed circly boi.
p - no issues
q r and s - Short curved stem on the q and a hook on the end of the s.
t - Cross in center, or in cursive a hook shape like a 7 with cross at the top. Average self esteem, defensive. Cautious/nervous type.
u v w - Loopy. Friendly.
x
y - Same as G and J
z
using the 1 and done rule, I'd be described as;
Closed off, pleasure seeking, detail oriented, defensive/cautious but friendly.
I mean it's not wrong. I struggle to talk to new people at work, although I make an effort to ask them about their hobbies, music, games, shows they're watching etc to get more familiar.
I like to reach the same standard of quality in my work every shift.
I can get defensive if I feel like someone is attacking me personally, not criticizing my actions or my work both of those I'm fine with.
I'm fairly pleasure seeking, I've tried the devils lettuce, i regularly smoke tobacco and I distract myself for hours on end instead of doing something productive.
As for sex, I dont care for it I was single for 5 years before my most recent partner and now I'm single again, mores the same.

I thought my writing was relatively boring and normal until I watched more videos of yours and started noticing more and more things. Now the thing that worries me is noticing that while my writing is rounded, there are also hook formations, and I'm not sure how they combine, so I think I'm finally gonna send you an email and hopefully, get an answer :)
