Die Abhebegeschwindigkeit des Archaeopteryx beim Fussstart am Hang entspricht etwa derjenigen von Deltas (Drachen). Dies erlaubt bei entsprechender Hangneigung auch den Start ohne Wind. Der Archaeopteryx ist ein vielseitiger high-end Hängegleiter in Segelflugzeugkonfiguration mit aussergewöhnlicher Steigfähigkeit. Konzipiert ist er für den Fussstart von Berghängen sowie für eine Vielzahl weiterer Startarten wie Gummiseilstart vom Berg oder Auto-, Winden-, Flugzeug-, und UL-Schleppstarts von Flugplätzen.

this thing is pure innovation. Imagine a plane which can take off by just running. It takes almost no time to get airborne. And it flies without and engine. And its very light too. Simple geniuse.
It's just a more efficient glider like we had before powered aircraft.
Just like a hang glider, which we have had for many many years.

Looks like a lot of fun and easy to launch in light winds or stronger consistent winds. I imagine the ground handling practice is much less forgiving than a paraglider for a beginner. Thermal soaring would be amazing if it can pull a tight turn to stay in the core. The fuselage would also help prevent the water supply (and pilot) from freezing at high altitudes.
Man, that is SO cool! It brought a smile to my face every time it was launched.

Wow, building set of the UL airplane without engine cost 1/4 price... But still, if i could pack it into sth. like VW transporter, Ford transit or similar cars with my skis or fins on the summer/winter holiday and use it during relaxing days it would be awesome...same as my girlfriend would start me up with car on the field behind my house and i could use it more times in year than regular plane, grounded on the airfield not too close my living place....

Gee, I remember when hang gliding was just a bed sheet stretched over a fishing pole frame and you launched into the elements bare-naked with a rope tied around your waist.. My how much they've improved.

For some reason, I thought of the Flintstones.
The Wright Brothers would have paid a fortune to get their hands on such "primitive" gliders.
they wouldnt have paid they would rip eachother off like happened to Tesla. Same today. I submitted a idea to help the US economy and cut down shipping costs but somehow it was turned into the stupid hyperloop idea and stolen from me. My idea was to build a tunnel from CA to China and use sea water as a way to power it. It would save trillion in shipping cost and clear the oceans ,,,I also invented the pre paid credit card.. Never saw a dime... Now I just keep my ideas to myself,,,,

Npbody will be able to carry it up the hills in his backpack and nobody will use it as a serious glider on the gliderports because of its high price and low performance. That is because these planes can't be made of metal they have to be made by a frame with fabric over it. This makes the plane lighter.

It would add extra weight, unneeded complexity and unreliability, and most likely a huge markup in the price.

Since I didn't want to struggle & I'm not rich, I'll stick to maintaining my beloved A320's.. A hangar pilot, that's as close as I'll get to flying them...lol
