  • Watch as I show an example of how I go through my process of creating abstract paintings inspired by nature. I find inspiration in the world around us and use it to create vibrant and dynamic pieces influenced by shapes and patterns from the natural world.

    Warm-up exercises like this are great for getting your creative juices flowing. It's important to loosen up and allow yourself the freedom to experiment with different techniques and styles. This exercise helps me to let go of any expectations and opens up the possibility for new and exciting ideas to emerge.
    Using Prussian blue, alizarin crimson, Payne's gray, green gold, yellow ochre, and titanium white acrylic paint, I start to build up layers of color and texture. Each brush stroke can the direction of the painting, as I aim to capture the beauty and flow of the natural world in an abstract form.
    Throughout the process, I remind myself that it's okay to change directions. Sometimes, the painting takes on a life of its own, and it's important to be open to new possibilities. This allows me to experiment with different techniques and approaches, leading to exciting and unexpected results.
    My abstract paintings inspired by nature are a reflection of my love for the outdoors and my passion for creativity. With each stroke of the brush, I aim to capture the beauty and energy of the natural world and bring it to life on the canvas.
    So if you're looking for a new and exciting way to explore your creative side, I encourage you to try your hand at abstract painting. With a little bit of acrylic paint and an open mind, you never know where your imagination will take you. Join me on this journey of creating abstract paintings inspired by nature, and let's explore the beauty of the natural world together.

    An inspiring piece coming from nature. i truly enjoy painting trees. The endless shades of charcoal, grays, whites, pinks and umber. You make it look so simple, and that's why I learn from your videos. Thanks again, Chris.

    Thank you for sharing your process. During my walks in nature the things that inspire me are the clouds that seem white but have these soft transparent washes of the rainbow. And close up textures of trees and shadows and rocks. Still in the record stage of building the library of these shapes. Your sketchbook warmups are pulling me to play with ideas. Cheers!!!💕✂️🐞

    Enjoyed seeing your inspiration photo how that inspired this collage/painting. It’s so true we have one idea in our head and seldom does it turn out that way yet often is better I have to admit I think I liked it after you did the drips and I personally would’ve stopped at that point, however, what you did turned out very well. Thank you for sharing, at this point I’m not sharing yet, still a lot to take in and absorb from many fine artists such as yourself. Thank you.

      Thanks, Colleen❤️ You'll find that in most of my videos I could have (and sometimes should have🫣) stopped painting many times before I did. Many times that's because I wasn't feeling the painting was where it was supposed to be and many times because I was having too much fun and didn't want to stop.

      Having fun is what it’s about. Think of my comment as nothing more than , an armchair, quarterback remark. I’m here to learn from YOU. If you’re having fun with or you’re happy that is what’s important . It was not meant as a criticism in the slightest. I probably would’ve stopped at that point. However, I would’ve missed out on an opportunity to make it even better. You’re just trying to identify take a chance and keep working with it as long as it feels right. I admire your tenacity in getting something that nice done in 15 minutes, it would probably take me 15 minutes just to get the sketch done in pencil. lol

    So generous, thank you. Both sharing your process and your thoughtful supportive comments.
    At a recent printmaking workshop we were asked to RESPOND to our environment, very new for me as I have so little understanding or experience in abstract approaches. My attract shape drawn from a piece of tree bark, looked like both a giant cuttlefish and an eagle plunging for prey.
    Why is it that we no matter our intentions, see/make something figurative of an abstract image?

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks, Jenny! That sounds like quite an engaging printmaking workshop. It's nice to challenge our thought process like that now and again. It is interesting how we tend to always try and make sense of abstract art. We're continually searching for meaning and recognizable features. We can't help treating them like puzzles to be solved.🤔

      Hey Dina! For the most part this was an intuitive painting even though I had a basic composition in mind. I was painting and reacting to what I was seeing. So, when I didn't like the direction, I painted over some areas to try and make the painting work. I hope that answers your question.
