    This place is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!!
So glad children haven't broken everything and scribbled all over it.
    Thanks!

I love your respect for historical places and give us a glance of places we don't dare or are unable to explore.

To be honest, this defunct factory is under a long term preservation plan which unfortunelately got partly halted in 2021. Some of the wool are leftovers damage from the floods that came from the neighbour's processing wool factory (still active). It used in the past to be open to public as historic landmark due of their unique value. Most of the machinery were still safe before 2021. Sad to see the damages caused.

Beautiful canal. I'm subscribing immediately. I'm a fan of URBEX. I've visited a few abandoned complexes here in the Czech Republic.
I had no idea there would be so many abandoned buildings in Western Europe.
Beautiful. Be well and be safe.

Fascinating video . A true Time Capsule of Belgium’s industrial heritage. Always sad to see a place that gave work and purpose to so many lives abandoned and forgotten.

Someone PLEASE capture/scan every inch of this amazing place and make a virtual version of it, I would definitely pay to wander around in a high resolution model of that place in VR. Photogrammetry, even when combined with LIDAR, is just not up to the task yet, but I suspect that AI will soon fix that by recognizing things and generating optimized models and textures. There's no reason something like a simple table should still require 1,723,624 verts in order to look decent...

lol, what would be the point? and what has to buzzword salad has to do with the video or urbex. If you like the place, go visit it, no need to ramble this kind of nonsense salad.

It’s striking that this factory closed swiftly enough not to have been gutted, nor when it operated, did it survive long enough to see boilers and steam driven belts replaced with electrical equipment. That surely dates the closure to the 1960s or earlier?

Gerçekten çok tuhaf geldi bana. Tüm bu binaları canlandıran, sokakları güzelleştiren insanların varlığı. İnsan yoksa, gerçekten bu koca binalar bile tamamen anlamını yitiriyor.

He said competition led to the downfall of the Belgian industry. Who was competing with them?

    • @ForgottenBuildings
      @ForgottenBuildings  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Its largely due to the rise of synthetics such as nylon which was preferred over wool for clothing.

7:10 not just due to increased competition but also by the inability to export goods, as WW2 had caused Belgium no guaranteed connection to export it's stuff to the Netherlands and Germany, because they closed their railroad connection. Belgium started spying in the Netherlands and even took over a part of Germany to get the railroad transport going. Though the Netherlands during the wars acted rather neutral and still dealed with Germany, Belgium could not.

Sorry, dass ich das soschreiben muss, aber:
    1. Das Video ist viel zu kurz.
    2. Viel zu wenig Informationen
    3. Zu viele Werbeunterbrechungen
    4. Insgesamt 2 min Werbung in einem Video von lediglich 12 min sind viel zu viel.
Fazit: Macht es in Zukunft einfach besser!

I do agree the video makers gave only few info on the history of the site.
