There is something unique in this video that you won't be able to see in any other: pedagogy !!! Clearly explained with absolutely no ego. THANKS for this !!! 🙏🙏🙏
When you learn his approach of counting and working through this pattern slowly the beauty is you're teaching yourself the fundamentals to learn other others equally successfully. Learning to learn how to learn lol. So its serving a dual purpose. Its great to have these videos available hopefully you folks appreciate this resource. Great explanation of this process sir. Kudos.
@@timothyslaughter476 that’s a really dope perspective! It’s the main reason I share this info. If we learn and slow down there’s nothing we cannot do! Life hack!
I’m glad I came across your video. I’m about old- grew up in 70’s&80’s with disco funk metal all that. I just bought 7pc Tama Superstar Classic at my early old age lol. So for about 4-5 months I’ve been learning and learning some more. Your video is clean to the point and definitely something I can practice as I start my drumming adventure. Thanks man, good stuff👍 Rock on !
Man, i use the RLL rudiment forever and most use all the time and never think of it this way .But now that i saw how you applied it, i can’t wait to practice it. Thank you very much bro ❤
@@cbfieldsmusicI’ve been a working drummer since 1977 but started playing back in 1966 when I was 13. Of course back in the 70’s and early 80’s I was working 6 nights a week. I’m still working but unfortunately not as much as back then. I did get back from a gig tonight though, playing all Motown, Disco, Funk, and R&B dance music. I’ll always be a student of the e drums. Thanks again for your great video.
I was noodling with an electronic kit for a bit, but started in earnest about a year and a half ago when I finally got a place with some extra space and my friend gave me a few pieces of gear. So I’m new to drums, but I’ve been playing different instruments all my life. I love this lick, I learned it already! This is the sort of thing I imagine in my mind’s ear but didn’t understand how to play, thank you for helping me! Subbed, looking forward to learning more from you, I really like the way you break things down.
@@cbfieldsmusic yes something I’ve done lately is write out basic drum notation maybe a 4/4 measure while alternating the bass drum on the 1 the e the and the A. They don’t always sound interesting but it allows me to improvise a little easier. L R bass R or bass L R L maybe put two measures together start with the bass drum and end with the bass drum. Then do the same but with triplets. Later ad 32 notes with singles and double stroke rolls. What I find very interesting is playing breaks with triplets among straight 16ths. Sounds a lot like Steve Gadd although I’m no Steve Gadd. Keep kicking ass bro.
It would sound different depending on what a left handed drummer chooses to hit. It still works though. That’s part of the fun in the creativity with drums. Lefties could swap the pattern for LRRLRRK

This is similar to Gavin Harrison’s RLRRL pattern. I love it because you can add single or double kicks. And change the accents every time

Nice is that the original Allisis strike?
Did you make any repairs on it?
No this is the second model! It’s been working out well! What ekit do you play?
Playing the rudiments like this loosens up my mind so I’m not as rigid.

How can I get that hat?
are you talking about the metronome?
Where you get that 1234 metronome?
It’s called pro metronome in the App Store
Ooo...I bet resting on the four and then hitting the crash and snare together on the and of four.
I may have to sit down and try that
Is there sheet music for the whole beat? Groove with fill? Thought I heard some variations on the hi-hat.
No, I didn’t include any sheet music for this. I will include it in future videos.
@@cbfieldsmusicthanks. I actually transcribed it, well, tried as best I could. I tried including a link to it, but TH-cam wouldn’t let me.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Are you using a metronome, or a program with this? I'd love to know so I could use it for my students.
I use an app from the apple App Store called pro metronome is 4.99 one time purchase. I use voice counting within the app
My mate, that is so cool. I just clicked on it, and is double single ye .?? And mate we're you get that app that shouts at ye 1234 ??xcc
