You know what that feeling IS, and there were no cameras to capture it but with Guadagnino's masterful direction you can feel this pain. Such Movie BRILLIANCE!
He does so many interesting things with his mouth in this movie - twisting it, puffing it out, pursing his lips. Really great choices for every part of his instrument.
I have never seen that part without crying...he doesn't know what to do...he can't believe he just left...he doesn't have the energy to walk back home.
I remember thinking "Nah, I'm not gonna cry.. no, I won't". And he cracks and I was crying my ass out!. Damn it. What a beautiful story. Totally in love with it.

This accounts for its popularity. I wonder if romance even exists outside books and movies. But then again, it has been over 50 years since I was as young as Elio!
He was heart broken and needed to have his parents help him pick up the pieces. His dad said something to the effect of " by the age of 30 you have nothing left to give". Try 58....we turn into icebergs and we stop loving ourselves and possibly others destined to cross our paths
Cusimi Looking help him pick up the pieces of his broken heart - priceless... he was still a child and already went through that outstanding love and just lost it...
The part the gets me every time is when Elio's mom runs her hand through his hair and he starts to ugly cry and you tell Mom is trying to keep it together herself....I just can't deal.
Usually, I don't explore romance genres because some are cringey, some are forced, some are just mediocre. But this movie hits me right in the bones. I feel like I won't function properly for the next couple of days because of the level of devastation this movie has instilled to me. It made me wish to meet the person to love and at the same time made me apprehensive to open my heart to anyone.
@@ShrayMaheshwary Yep. Had it for 3 years. I think you can only love like that when you're young or perhaps again when you're old. I just know I'm too much of a cynic now to experience quand la coupe de foudre frappe now. Can barely even talk about it in English because it's just too raw and sincere. The funniest part is that 26 years and many relationships, many many lovers later, she's still the love of my life and if I ever move back to the US, I hope we can get back together.
Jonatas Silve I don't think they could ever say Ilove you to each other because they're not in a true relationship. But they're more than just friends and that's the most romantic part in every relationship
Yummy Sounds no, i didn’t. i was talking about the movie. the book was just released in my country (im from brazil, btw, so sorry about my english haha)
No worries your English is good, i'm Mexican but i bought the book in the USA, hope you get to buy it someday, i imagine you already know but there's a few audiobook videos here on youtube read by Armie Hammer :O
Yummy Sounds i think they didn't say "i love u" to each other in the book too. But yeah. That's most prettiest thing in this masterpiece. They felt it. But they were lost in each other. So they were not sure bout what they're feeling. These are my thoughts.
The way Elio put his hand under his chin and pressed it against his throat, attempted to smile and tried to give eye contact and blinked really fast trying not to cry; that just FUCKED ME UP I cried so hard when I watched the movie you can see the hurt it's on his face and pouring from his body. It's hurts to watch.
But also it’s the moment that is prelude to this: when Oliver is watching Elio sleeping and their brief love plays out in a series of memories, the train horn sounds and then summons his attention, prematurely ripping him back into reality, the fact that he must leave. This links so beautifully with when Elio is watching the fire at the end, and his mother begins to call him after we sit and watch him fall apart: he looks over the same shoulder ( after breaking the fourth wall ) and acknowledges his name, again, being summoned into reality. I don’t know if it’s too far to suggest that it’s almost as though he doesn’t know his own name anymore. Urgh, that’s my “two cents”
Matild ish 😂😂😂. Omg. I think i’m driving myself crazy! But good to know we’re not the only ones. There should be free counseling for people who watch the movie😭😭😭
Jimmy Martinez jeez I'm obsessed with this movie the first time I watched it I didn't cry, but the second time all those feelings sank in and I was broke, when are we going to get over this?
I still have a garment from my old lover. I also have his blood on a piece of cotton , from a tshirt.....a small drop or so from a nosebleed caused by tears and crying. I cut a small area from the T shirt he was wearing that day. I also have a box of " memories", an extra ring he gave me, a piece of wood he carved, notes, music and CDs with his voice and pictures. I am not sure what I want to do with all of those things. Expect to leave the US in a few years and I am too afraid to let these things go. Perhaps I should burn them, perhaps I should sink them in a lake. Perhaps I should send them back to him....and then wonder for the rest of my life if his wife will forgive him all over again. It's been a long time now, but not enough to heal. I am working on it and occasionally purge myself in tears: Movies like this one. Movies like many others. Movies of love and deception. Movies that remind me of how lucky I was, that I experienced some sort of " love". The caresses on my lips and the sound of my name, over and over again in his made up phrase in Spanish. I yearn the warmth of his hands close and on my face. Strangely, he was the first man I kissed in public and the first man I also held hands in public. Little did I know that a married man could bring me more out of the closet. As I reflect, that is the kinda life I would like to have....holding hands and displaying affection for my lover. Not all was lost. It redefined my convictions and I now know that I will never again become someone's secret, as secrets destroy lifes...
I like how they didn't use some melancholy/dramatic soundtrack here. I think this perfectly portrays the deafening silence that settles once someone you love leaves. Every little mundane noise seems to be a hundred times louder as if it is reality's way of flooding over you.
Man they are such talented actors. Also I know Timothée wasn’t much older than 17 but he did a PERFECT job at portraying an adolescent boy. He’s body movements, his awkwardness, his confusion, his vulnerability...it was all perfect.
The way that they hug you can literally read the strong emotions the two felt..such a genuine, powerful, rare, and beautiful love that they portray..now that elio just sink in the thought of being actually separated perhaps permanently..really shattered my heart into pieces..great actors great movies great book
They way Olivier holds Elio and then he's leaving and Elio hold him tight to not stop that emotional hug and even then after the hug the Elio's face expression is so unique I can't love this movie, story and book enough it's just so beautiful
@@dianamatthew1747 The book really isn't as good as the movie -- which says a lot of good things about these actors and also the man who directed them.

Yes, I can't help but agree. I love Gary Oldman as an actor but Timothee's performance was the best work I saw from any actor that year. An astounding performance in every way.

To Film a story about true love is hard enough, but then between two men that both genders can live without cynicism, I doubt it's ever been made until now. One of it's awkward moments, like the first kiss, how does a man kiss another when you've only kissed a women. You subconsciously think it would feel different yet, it so fluid and nonchalant as your first romantic kiss ever. The film rolls out slowly, and beautifully makes you want this love to blossom. You love for them, you want them to love each other, it's as if all the stars allied just for this summer, simple two humans that are meant to be just as natural as nature intended. It's beautifully told, you don't want it to end, from the music , the colors, the lighting, it all sucks you in, I can't get enough. I've not seen all the movies nominated for an Oscar this year, but the one's I have don't compare. What I've seen so, far have great stories, acting but they all seem familiar and have been told before, this one's in a lifetime. I do hope this inspires others that love is love.
P.G. Ferret maybe you should read the book watch the movie and then you can judge with facts to back them up, but if you want my honest answer no it’s a 17 year old with a 24 year old and in Italy’s and in many states the age of consent is 16. And the actors in reality are 22 and 31 when the movie was filmed Tim was 20 and Arnie 30? And if the roles were about a heterosexual relationship you wouldn’t be asking..:
exactly my thoughts! i felt that it was truly just a story about love and its so refreshing to see a film without any cynicism and that it doesn't exploit the fact that it is a gay film but rather just celebrates pure unabashed, unbiased love shared by two people.
i love this scene so much because on one hand we have elio. 17, heart seconds away from being broken, vulnerable and trying so hard to repress his emotions but they spill over just barely enough to notice because he is still so young. then we have oliver, the adult of the relationship. his facial expressions are much more intact because he is trying to be in control of the situation, trying to be strong for the both of them. however you can still see the pain and sadness behind his reassuring smile and it hurts just as much seeing elio’s wandering eyes and clearly disappointed body language. basically what i’m trying to say is the acting in this movie is phenomenal and these two actors are irreplaceable for their roles.
That's exactly what heart break and goodbye feels like, no words spoken because nothing could express the real pain of it all. That hug when Oliver first grabs him he lets his arms hang and then when he grips at his shirt, its so raw and pure. You feel every second of it.
My god... what a powerful scene. When they nodded at each other before they parted because they can't express their emotions publicly. Ugh... so heartbreaking.
CMBYNers, I don't think it's a matter of them not being able to kiss or be more expressive at the depot. Don't forget they talked about that event... so I'm sure they agreed to not make things any more difficult to say good-bye than necessary. I can't imagine how difficult it would be for Oliver to board that train had Elio said even one spoken word after the "Do you have your passport" which Oliver said yes to with a simple nod. When you look into your lovers eyes you see all you need to know. They did that. They held each other's gaze. on the train Oliver had to be just as dead as Elio was standing there watching the distance between he and his love grow wider and wider. Even on that bench, Elio may have expected to see Oliver come walking back to him, and saying, I just couldn't do it. There was no corner in Oliver's life in the States for Elio. Love doesn't conquer all. However, these two loved for the ages, it was a tacit love once Oliver boarded that train. While we can see Elio's hand come to his eyes, I'm sure Oliver was doubled over in pain on that train. He loved Elio with a more calm love; he had from the time he arrived. He was just waiting for Elio to grow to the feelings he had inside with more clarity. I will never understand Marzia's place in this movie. for me she's just a nuisance. An unbearable nuisance at that. She took away from Elio's joy of his first time with Oliver. For me the movie ends here with Annella and her son going home. I simply find the rest of the movie too much it collides too much with my own life and my emotions. I can't wipe Elio's tears and mine at the same time anymore. Kudos to the entire ensemble of "Call Me By Your Name". The Academy made a huge mistake when they didn't reward Chalamet's work. Lllater

@@edgarrett8822 Hi Garrett, you know one of the great things this film does is causes us to revisit our own loves, gained, losses, etc. It now only allows us to look at the person we longed for, we also go back to that job opportunity or that business op we passed up the child we never had. Something unfulfilled in our lives. That thing that causes us the greatest joy and disappointment. - Elio, was at a crossroads. Why were so many men showing him desire? Was it them or did they see something in him he was not willing to see himself. Perhaps he only looked in the mirror from the edge rather than the full image. What was it abut Oliver that made him push his parents toward him? Did he have kind eyes or did Elio have stirrings when viewing the picture.? Something caused Elio to say, I want to see with this man what I am. - Elio was on a journey to find himself, when he did, he rejected what he found, at first. Then he hit smack in the face with this is who I am. Oliver is who I am. He had the fortitude to go after him even in pain. Remember that night left him in literal pain, But he mounted that bike and rode into town to be with Oliver. Oh, if we had such courage. - This film is a lesson to all of us about our lives. And yes, love can life you to heights unimagined, and that same love can take us to depths that literally suck the breath out us, and leave us in a heap on the floor. I wish the film had contained the entire 4+ hours. _ The film is for everyone. I am a straight female who adores this film. It is a timeless piece of cinema that was not given the proper treatment by the Academy. Maybe it was Sony's fault. I understand it hit the voters with only 3 days left. So most of them no doubt got to see more than the trailer for it. I pray that Luca and the team made it through this virus and will produce the sequels he envisioned. Be safe... thank you. _Atalanta
@@maxie2go Your insight is stirring. Your vision of this movie and what it makes you feel is so alarmingly similar to mine. I'm a gay man. 58. And I recognize that CMBYN forces me to deal with my own life. My own ups and downs. My own joy and hearbreak. My own successes and failures. Life is bittersweet. I've let people go that I now regret losing. I've kept some that should have been freed. This story of Ello and Oliver force me to revisit these days in my own life. And that's powerful. It's damning. But, it's freeing. Makes me see the painful price I call regret. Thats a debt that's never ever forgiven. You are tied to its strangling grip for eternity. Makes me see the joy and beauty in the love I hid from in fear of society's wrath. It makes me yearn for the days I've wasted seeking approval from those approval is not necessary. It makes me cry and it makes me hopeful at the same time. This masterpiece of a movie makes me want to do it all again. That's powerful. To me, that's powerful.
The mom staying silent because she knows how he's feeling and nothing she could say would make it better. Just the hand in his hair to let him know she gets it. Beautiful.

Renle Chu truly heartbreaking, I actually felt like his pain crossed the screen... Painfully real, only wish I could wash away the pain (it's a movie but.. Gosh love is beautiful but hurt sometimes) well performed thimothee
Yup. The Oscar win was made even more poignant by the fact that the screenwriter (James Ivory, who won) finally got his long overdue recognition after an amazing career. Ivory is one half of the famed Merchant-Ivory duo (along with Ismail Merchant), and neither one had ever been recognized for their work until now. Also, at 89, Ivory is the oldest Oscar winner in any category ever as a result of this win.
Thanks for the post. This and the scene right after, when he is in the car and Marizia comes to him...the bleakness in his face that reflects the bleakness in his heart is stunning.

idk if anybody noticed but at 0:47 Timothee puts his hand to his throat and starts to sort of push back the pain or tears. THIS is exactly what happens when we cry. There's like this burning ball of fire in the base of the throat threatening to just come out in full force and i can't- This movie was THE best in terms of acting man. Just. WOW
Cried for both Oliver & Elio in this scene. However, I was left being more worried for Oliver. Elio has his parents & a loving upbringing to carry him through a little better. It's clear that Oliver doesn't have the same. The only way he probably knows how to survive is to hide who he really is/what he really feels. Maybe he thinks he knows better & feels like he doesn't want to ruin Elio's life by being w/ him. Either way, in the book, the only thing they do is to cope being without each other for the rest of their lives, which is tragic.
I agree that in many ways it's much worse for Oliver. Elio has many people who know and are supportive and love him, while nobody in Oliver's life back home knows, nor can they know, so he lacks all the support, acceptance and compassion that Elio has.
I do believe they will end up together. How many gay men married a women and had children, only to divorce her and end up with a man after homosexialy became much more acceptable in society?
I totally agree and I get mad when I see comments of people saying that Oliver was selfish, and that he just played with Elio. These people didn't understand a single thing about the story. Besides, Oliver was more mature, he experienced this love in other terms, he was scared of how intense the feelings were. "Do you know how happy I am that we slept together? - I don't know - Of course you don't" we are watching the story from Elio's perspective, but you could feel, if you pay attention, Oliver adored him. Completely.
So true. The majority of comments focus on Elio's character, his grief and misfortune. After watching the movie several times, the Oliver character is just a rich, maybe more, for analysis.

@@Peachelliver yes, i am aware that the movie is set in Italy in the 80s. I’m just saying that he quality (low res) of the clip is making it looks like a movie shot in the 90s, which gives off a certain aesthetic.
this scene is so damn beautiful. so many nuanced movements from both timothee and armie. i love how no words are exchanged but so much emotion has passed between the two. the way elio holds onto oliver's shirt and taps on his back. the way elio nods as if to say ok, you can go now because i'll let you go now. the way oliver holds him so tightly. damn this was so good. it also makes me think about how their journey as actors was also coming to an end and i wonder how much of this scene was the two of them expressing the friendship they developed as people over the course of the few months. it's a no wonder that they're still close to this day. they were truly wonderful dance partners. you have the wild and free elio and the more restrained yet deep oliver. i love it.
I kind of wish that the reality would be that they can't see it because there's a chance we can enlighten them about it. But the reality is that the people do see the love that we feel. It's just that they'd rather turn their heads away out of ignorance and bias. :--(
timothée's acting is just perfect and i mean it. his body gesture represents perfectly how he feels, how his character is feeling right now, and that's something rare tbh for an actor to show everything like this. it goes until the hands, his face, his eyes, the way he talks, it seems so real and so relatable, that's so freaking natural. seriously i'm speechless
This scene happened to me in real life. When we said goodbye I felt like a sting in my heart and then I walked away, looked back and he wasn’t there anymore. I started crying uncontrollably in the streets of Amsterdam. Sometimes some people awaken the strongest feelings inside of you ❤
Action speaks louder than voice. This scene is absolutely stunning and perfectly calibrated! Amazing. No words. Just emotions all perfectly shown through silence/actions. I love this film soo much!
Anyone who has experienced true love and heartbreak understands that just because your heart wants and yearns for love to last it doesn't always work out. Sometimes you have to sit and accept that you might not ever get the closure or the answers to help make sense of the loss of a relationship. One of the hardest things in life is to have love in your heart for someone and I mean that deep can't get you off my mind type of love for someone and come to terms with the fact that you may never hear from them again or that you may never experience a love like that again. It hurts bad, really unexplainably bad. To have a heart full of love and nowhere to put it is tragic and I wouldn't wish that on anybody. Life isn't always rainbows, unicorns and butterflies. I think that's why I can really relate to both Oliver and Elio in this movie. It was so easy for me to feel their pain because I'm living through pain just like this. Even with all the pain I wouldn't change things and I don't think Elio and Oliver would either. For it is better to have loved and lost then to have never loved at all...
I’m not sure... I mean it was so hard to handle the lost of my love, first years I didn’t want to breath and live, 15 years passed and I didn’t love anyone else.. I still remember everything and that movie brought me back into those feelings of outstanding pain, several weeks ago I watched this movie and I still can’t get over of the feeling that something important is missing and I could never feel the same again, it’s breaking my heart
One of the most beautifully acted and set scenes of the movie. Absolutely stunning. This movie should have won a lot more awards than it did. It’s a master class on acting
No...don't cry don't cry.. But I am still crying. Even the Titanic tragedy didn't made me cry like this.. It's so raw, pure, natural,.. I wish for the viewers relief, they should make a second part to this where Oliver comes and wipe out all the tears and agony of his Elio. 😢😢
Yes, and after they made love for the first time Elio asked Oliver to give that shirt to him before he would leave. Elio later received it with the "for Oliver from Elio" note. Can't get any more perfect than that.
this is one of the scenes i love to watch over and over again. the acting is superb (as always) and gives off so much emotion. the way elio holds him so tightly and doesn't want to let go, and his actions after finally doing it; rubbing his throat to hold back his tears and the lack of dialogue, just nodding as if they're both accepting what they had and what is happening now. the simple sounds of the announcement behind them, giving more emphasis to the fact that oliver is actually leaving. it's just pure emotion. the longing stare that elio gives while the train is leaving, and oliver's "billowy" shirt on his back is just the cherry on top.
I simply can't believe that this is just a movie. The story, the acting, emotions seem to be so real that it make you unable to remain immotive to the story and especially to the devastating ending 😥😥
As the train pulls out of the station, for a moment Elio wants to chase after it. He stops and the audience wonders what thought must appear on his face, but Luca does not show us. We are left to our own thoughts and feelings. (A Hollywood director would have done a close-up!) This is not a film you can see once and think that you know it. You have to have it in your film library. Additonal thoughts (02/18/18): I would like to know Luca's instructions to Armie Hammer in this scene with no dialogue. Elio seems to be saying "it's OK." Some comments at other video uploads are arguing that Oliver is a "jerk." When he is seated in the train car, he does not put the window down so that there is a barrier between him and Elio. There is even a curtain to partially conceal his face. It reminds me of someone leaving their pet dog at a shelter.
Linnaeus shecut "When he is seated in the train car, he does not put the window down so that there is a barrier between him and Elio. There is even a curtain to partially conceal his face" I asked myself about this! I think it actually made the scene even more poignant .To me it looks like Oliver is trying hard not to lose it and make it worse for the both of them! He's older, he has to keep it together. It's like when you're saying good-bye/farewell to someone at the airport and you leave without turning around because it's too painful! The acting is so subtle and yet so revealing of the awkwardness and pain of the moment! Superb scene!
Agree. In the film, Oliver hides his feelings far better than Elio. Even when he's not saying anything nor looking at Elio's face when the train goes away, we can see that he is resisting not to show his sad feelings towards Elio.
the way Elios voice brakes while calling his mother is heart breaking. The same as after the peach scene when he falls in Olivers arms crying and saying " I don´t want You to go" Masterfull acting!
I just went back and watched this film for the 4th time and this scene knocked me off my feet. They had an entire conversation without speaking one word and we understood every part of it. Timothee’s acting is out of this world and Armie as well. I think Armie doesn’t get enough credit for his acting in the film. That scene just before the train as he reflects on saying goodbye and the look of grief on his face as he sat down next to a sleeping Elio on the bed. 💔 This movie is just too good.
When Oliver tried to move away Elio just grabbed him tighter from Oliver’s back. He did not want to let him go, and you can see Oliver smiles knowing Elio doesn’t want him to leave.
I can actually relate to this movie. In 2017, I fell in love with a boy on a cruise and he fell in love with me too. We were together for only five days, but in those five days I have never felt that much love from someone. It broke our hearts saying goodbye to each other after the vacation we both cried in fact. We kept in contact for a year, but we recently stopped talking. It goes to show that love is a very powerful thing.
Stunning portrayal of an awkward teen. Oh wow, who hasn't been there? I love the way Timothy Chalamet puts his hand under his chin and nods. That is so amazingly true. I just can't tell you how cathartic this movie was for me (and almost everyone I'm sure). Oh wow. This character was so brave and funny. He does so many things with his body that are so true of teens
This acting is so amazing. I love the choices Timothee makes. Like nodding his head at the unasked question from Armie, "Are you okay?" He's amaxing. I can feel everything!
Watching this again makes me cry cause I had the same goodbye with my boyfriend, the train and everything... it was the last time we saw eachother before I left to another country. I was Oliver and I cried the whole way on the train for a few hours… I never cry like that before and I probably never will again.
I've had a moment like this. and I live how real this is. because there's nothing you can say that means anything. it's so heartbreaking to count down all the seconds.

Seeing this from behind Ellio without showing his face is what I can only say is, 'What Real Pain IS'...Timothee's BRILLIANT acting delivers this moment like no other actor before.

Hmmm. True. In the book, different ending. Mum isn't much in the picture xx
Understated not underrated
The way Elio put his hand under his chin and pressed it against his throat, attempted to smile and tried to give eye contact and blinked really fast trying not to cry; that just FUCKED ME UP I cried so hard when I watched the movie you can see the hurt it's on his face and pouring from his body. It's hurts to watch.
Yes. That little gesture was heartbreaking.
YES YES YES. Every time I watch this scene I wonder what ( Timothee) must have been thinking about. So simple. So beautiful.
I don’t know if it’s too far to suggest that it’s almost as though he doesn’t know his own name anymore.

it's Oliver's t-shirt. "from Elio to Oliver"....i'm crying :(
I still have a garment from my old lover.

Danny boi2 can’t agree more
I gave you my answer you don’t like it get over it
exactly my thoughts! i felt that it was truly just a story about love and its so refreshing to see a film without any cynicism and that it doesn't exploit the fact that it is a gay film but rather just celebrates pure unabashed, unbiased love shared by two people.
Danny boi2 I wish I could meet you, or at least just save your comment.
i love this scene so much because on one hand we have elio.
I agree oliver is armie and timothee is elio
exactly!!
I didn't sense that Oliver was as affected as Elio, but he did a have forlorn demeanor towards the end of their romance
That's exactly what heart break and goodbye feels like, no words spoken because nothing could express the real pain of it all. That hug when Oliver first grabs him he lets his arms hang and then when he grips at his shirt, its so raw and pure. You feel every second of it.
Powerful scene. Intense and moving, No dialogue but you will feel it.
Yes. It's perfect because they can't speak. There are no words for that moment anyway.
Tuulia Moors yeah... words often fail in the most intense moments of the human experience
My god... what a powerful scene.
Lllater
Don't use that as an expression because it is not allowed in the Bible OK peace

Yup. The Oscar win was made even more poignant by the fact that the screenwriter (James Ivory, who won) finally got his long overdue recognition after an amazing career. This movie was THE best in terms of acting man. Just.
The author said that the book has an open ending, that they may very well have ended up together.
This scene is very sad...I actually could feel the pain that Elio felt :'(

I felt it.. acting was soooo great.. my eyes won’t stop crying.. 😢
you still cutting onion till now prolly?

What an incredible romantic love story! The screenplay is timeless and carry everything essentials with memorable delivery. 2 hours 10 minutes are not enough really. The film is brilliant. Every little scenes complement each other. Armie and Timothée were both born to play the character 💌
The quality makes it look like a 90s movie and i love it
@@Peachelliver yes, i am aware that the movie is set in Italy in the 80s. I’m just saying that he quality (low res) of the clip is making it looks like a movie shot in the 90s, which gives off a certain aesthetic.
Yes! Before I ever saw this movie, I originally thought it was from the 80s or 90s, but nope. It's from 2017. Surprised the heck out of me
this scene is so damn beautiful. so many nuanced movements from both timothee and armie. i love how no words are exchanged but so much emotion has passed between the two. the way elio holds onto oliver's shirt and taps on his back. the way elio nods as if to say ok, you can go now because i'll let you go now. the way oliver holds him so tightly. damn this was so good. it also makes me think about how their journey as actors was also coming to an end and i wonder how much of this scene was the two of them expressing the friendship they developed as people over the course of the few months. it's a no wonder that they're still close to this day. they were truly wonderful dance partners. you have the wild and free elio and the more restrained yet deep oliver. i love it.
Wisely put, congrats 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
This!!!
whoever that dares to call a gay person sick or evil or perverted seriously cant see the kinda love we can feel. Im proud and out :) ,gorgeous movie.
I kind of wish that the reality would be that they can't see it because there's a chance we can enlighten them about it. But the reality is that the people do see the love that we feel. It's just that they'd rather turn their heads away out of ignorance and bias. :--(
Movies rarely portray Gay romance accurately. This one has done the Justice in every possible way
Ok, so i'm a straight woman, but this movie will haunt me forever. That good it was. And btw, everybody deserves to love and be loved.
timothée's acting is just perfect and i mean it. his body gesture represents perfectly how he feels, how his character is feeling right now, and that's something rare tbh for an actor to show everything like this. it goes until the hands, his face, his eyes, the way he talks, it seems so real and so relatable, that's so freaking natural. seriously i'm speechless
SUCH fine actors!! Man! - No words used... ALL the emotion portrayed through body language, expression and silence. Exquisite.
WELL SAID!!!!
Brilliant comment. Absolute gold.
I love how supportive his parents were :')
One of the most beautifully acted and set scenes of the movie. Absolutely stunning. This movie should have won a lot more awards than it did. It’s a master class on acting
From this scene right through to the fireplace scene breaks my heart . Will never get over it 💔
I just can't watch this without tears what an AMAZING movie i'm emotionally broken after this movie.
Its so beautiful 😭😭😭 im so sad about the ending! Good thing theyre planning on making a sequel!
On the train you can see Oliver through the windows tearing up 😭😭
Actually if you look at this scene at exactly 0:34 you can actually see Oliver's eyes are already filling with tears.
No...don't cry don't cry.. But I am still crying. Even the Titanic tragedy didn't made me cry like this.. It's so raw, pure, natural,.. I wish for the viewers relief, they should make a second part to this where Oliver comes and wipe out all the tears and agony of his Elio.
😢😢
I can’t get over the film. So beautiful that i bought the DVD, elio’s talkingheads shirt, book and movie poster. The truth is, i’m still heartbroken.
I will never recover from this scene
Hi, how are you doing?
Indeed one of the best movies..Can't get over.I had to watch this movie over and over again!
So did I. Never seen a movie as beautiful as this.
Wait, I just notice this...is Ellio wearing the shirt Oliver wore when they first met???
yep! that's why it's so big on him :)
Yes, and after they made love for the first time Elio asked Oliver to give that shirt to him before he would leave. Elio later received it with the "for Oliver from Elio" note. Can't get any more perfect than that.
Why did you let me know that 😭😭
It's Billowy, Oliver gave it to him.
Ohhh tnx i didn't notice it before
this is one of the scenes i love to watch over and over again. the acting is superb (as always) and gives off so much emotion. the way elio holds him so tightly and doesn't want to let go, and his actions after finally doing it; rubbing his throat to hold back his tears and the lack of dialogue, just nodding as if they're both accepting what they had and what is happening now. the simple sounds of the announcement behind them, giving more emphasis to the fact that oliver is actually leaving. it's just pure emotion.
the longing stare that elio gives while the train is leaving, and oliver's "billowy" shirt on his back is just the cherry on top.
I simply can't believe that this is just a movie. The story, the acting, emotions seem to be so real that it make you unable to remain immotive to the story and especially to the devastating ending 😥😥
yeah, and the cinematography makes you really think you are in there.
Can we just appreciate how simple the love story is? Love is love. Let’s not complicate things.
Linnaeus Shecut totally agree with you. Oh Elio..
Your comment was so interesting thank you! I agree!
the way Elios voice brakes while calling his mother is heart breaking. The same as after the peach scene when he falls in Olivers arms crying and saying " I don´t want You to go" Masterfull acting!
I think, in all honesty, this is one of the most painful moments in any film I've ever seen.
Agreed. Amazing acting from both of them. Although different from the book, stands strong as a film. One of my favourite ones
The way he says "Tu peux venir me chercher maman" gets me every time
When Oliver tried to move away Elio just grabbed him tighter from Oliver’s back.
Its like a perfume!.. Its goes away eventually but Its great as long as its there.
Lesson: Don’t fall in love to the foreign tourist
why just can he come back?

That someone can see so much good in you , and love you-completely, irregardless of how short a time you have together. They see it. And it's love.
TH-cam recommend: “are you ready for your daily dose of depression.” This movie hit me harder than an arctic truck.
Lol true
Hahaha love your comment
I just watched Luca and this scene and *that* train scene in Luca are an exact parallel and it makes me wanna sob.
Hi Nicole, how are you doing?
the way you can just feel the want/longing and the hurt at the same time 💔
Watching this again makes me cry cause I had the same goodbye with my boyfriend, the train and everything... it was the last time we saw eachother before I left to another country. I was Oliver and I cried the whole way on the train for a few hours… I never cry like that before and I probably never will again.
Alright it’s been two years and my tears still falling.
I've had a moment like this. and I live how real this is. because there's nothing you can say that means anything. it's so heartbreaking to count down all the seconds.
it’s been four years since I first watched this movie and I still won’t get over the ending 😔
When Elio clenched his shirt as if indicating "a little more" and Oliver immediately wrapped him in his arm breaking into a fond smile 😩
That scene is really hurts me ... you can only feel that ,its hard to describe
