    This is just a fantastic video! Makes me miss my spare tire cover. When I first got my jeep it was for my daughter. She thought it was part of a crappy seat cover and chucked it out. The trash man cometh before I realized it was missing. I keep my eyes peeled at the junk yard now. Much like you mentioned not messing up factory stuff I don’t want to either. I’m probably a little over the top about it. I walked out of the junkyard with about four screws the other day. The dude was like you couldn’t get those at auto zone? Actually no sir I couldn’t… or was it more I wouldn’t! 😂 those poor innocent “jeep jeeps” sitting there silent have not gone there in vain. They are there for others to roll on! May they Rest In Peace knowing their sacrifice means more than some jerks profit.

    Great video, thanks for sharing your hatch mod. I'll do the hatch mod to my 98 ZJ as well. My 96 ZJ's rear hatch release gave me trouble occasionally, but I don't think all the offroading rough driving helped that much and most likely the reason mine had issues occasionally. I need to get replacement rubber bumpers for my rear hatch as well.

    Great tips! Had an old set of CJ doors on a Wrangler with a similar problem of the threaded rod in the spring saddle. After fighting it forever, I drilled a hole in the actuating rod and mechanic's wired it to where I wanted it to stay. Never had another problem.

  • @Deadbuck73
    @Deadbuck73 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’ve just had my first lift gate issue on my 99xj. I got lucky. I was able to just get in there with some spray PB lube. It must’ve been just caked up a bit with dust n dirt. Other videos had you taking the lil actuator arm apart and rigging it with zip ties. Mine didn’t seem to need that at this point. After I generously sprayed it I’d activate the mechanism with a screwdriver to get it to get moving freely. Looks like it’s on the list for the occasional spritz of love just like the hood latches!

    Check out the edited section. Dan H, You have made another great video, posted up on TH-cam. Thank you for your hard work. You are the Best In My Book For Any Jeep XJ & ZJ..
    Although that type of mod probably can't be made to work on my 93 XJ, it;s still a quality update for any XJ, or ZJ Owner from 1996 & up....
    On my 1993 XJ. My Hatch & Rear Passenger Door have those ''Lazy'' Locking Mechanism's which also means, ''They Won't Open'' thing. I imagine I can remove the top-half of the inside panel in order to get the Hatch Unlocked, plus I like the ''Unlocking Mod'' that you installed. Now I'll go try & hopefully you catch my comment & give me some pointers, because I need them. Hopefully I'll BRB Soon with an opened Hatchback (I Hope).... Thanks for posting this video Dan, you are the best XJ Channel.... Dan
    Edit: Before I get into the problem & what I ended up doing. On the 1993 XJ, the Latching mechanism is different than the 1996 and Up, so I doubt it can be modded like you were able to do on your XJ Dan....
    The Problem: I removed the panel on the inside of the Hatchback. Once I was able to get the hatch to open, I found the problem. That Locking Actuator was stuck in the ''Lock'' position. I disconnected it from the latch, and since I need an actuator for the right rear Door, I'll order at least the two of them. Somehow I doubt any vehicle made today could have parts that would last 30 years, like on my XJ.. Anyone wanna bet against me on that.... Note: In March of 2023, my Cherokee Country Hits 30 Years Old..... Will I get anything from Chrysler for having a Rust-Free Cherokee That's Still Running Strong, or just continue to have to purchase parts whenever they're needed....... Probably The Latter of the two....

    • @ProjectDanH
      @ProjectDanH  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, Glad you got down to the root of the problem. Hope it can be repaired good as new with my mod... thanks for watching.. God speed,

    Fun note the little black connector next to the handle mechanism controls the flipper glass. I had it break and I couldn't get it to lock i had to superglue it back into place where the small metal rivet like parts connected and got it to work properly after that. It has no manual lock and is completely electronic in that aspect.

    • @ProjectDanH
      @ProjectDanH  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      sounds like the newer Jeeps now I believe starting in WJ's You cannot open the flip glass manually It's only an electronic latch.

    Hey Dan, been following the channel for a bit now and gotta hand it to ya man. nice work, clean channel, good tips!!
    I have a niner myself and slowly been building it up, and interested in some indepth mods.
    the liftgate glass button is a physical button that activates an electrical switch (if im not mistaken). with an aftermarket remote starter/alarm(compustar, viper) that has the lift gate release button on the remote, would have the liftgate release signal coming from the remote start receiver. what do you think, could that signal hypothetically release the lift glass?
    of course it wouldn't open the glass but it would open the latch so it would be free to pull open.
