Oh wow, amazing job. Kind of funny to see this in my recommended list. At my student house, we also had a problem flushing the toilet. And finally, it has been fixed. Apparently, there is an old septic tank connected to the house, and the landlord did not know that there was a septic tank after he bought the house 30 years ago. And this septic tank (~10k L) was completely full and had to be drained. That was so cool to see how that was done.
