I NEVER SAW THE JUG BAND BUT I SAW CANNED HEAT SO MANY TIMES IN LA AND ON THE SUNSET STRIP EVERYBODY ANTICIPATED A SOLO BY LARRY THE MOLE I WOULD GET UP AT THEIR JAM @ BIDO LITO'S CLUB ON COSMO ST IN HOLLYWOOD I WAS UNDERAGE BUT THEY LET ME IN CUZ I COULD PLAY WHAT A GREAT TIME IN LOS ANGELES FOR LOCAL MUSIC THANK YOU LARRY CARLOS GUITARLOS 90042
Do your ears a favour. Grab your headphones and listen to Taylor's contribution to Heat's Monterey Pop Live version of Dust My Broom. I challenge you to listen to this just once. Maybe the best bass line this poster has ever heard and, along with Fleetwood Mac's cover, arguably the best overall cover of Robert Johnson's classic.
Unbeknownst to most of his fans back then, Larry was battling with a serious illness.. It finally got the better of him. Larry was a phenomenal musician and a very nice guy. It was an honor to be his friend
Larry Taylor was "The Mole". The intro here is a sort-of-paraphrase of his introduction on "Fried Hockey Boogie". As stated, Alan Wilson was the harp player and rhythm guitarist Henry Vestine ("The Sunflower") played lead guitar.* *Note that with Canned Heat the terms rhythm guitar and lead guitar are somewhat interchangeable. Both players were adept at melody, Vestine was better known as the "lead" in the band as he had a distinctive, heavily distorted buzzsaw sound where Wilson's playing was more jangling, almost akin to The Byrds of the same period.
I've been a fan of the Mole's since 1968. One of my favorite bass players! I miss the old Canned Heat with The Blind Owl.
Me too but I still listen on Spotify and watch on TH-cam.
RIP LARRY TAYLOR " THE MOLE"

Rip Larry
Hard to believe it's him, he looks so different......
In his early days he was great....but you can tell here he is either bored or just tired of playing it over and over again...
Unbeknownst to most of his fans back then, Larry was battling with a serious illness..
It finally got the better of him. Larry was a phenomenal musician and a very nice guy.

Larry Taylor beaula land
After seeing clips of the Mole in the past, this doesn't resemble or sound like him.
the mole was the blind harp player in canned hear. Larry is the best!
Alan Wilson their harp player wasn't blind but had very poor vision, his nickname was "Blind Owl" Larry Taylor was "The Mole"

This is NOT Canned Heat,,,, No Blind Owl Or Bob...Just a fake "cover band" with ONE original member so they can call themselves Canned Heat
