That wig looks gorgeous on you. The color, the extended lace-front, it looks completely natural. I would say you gotta win on your hands and for a fabulous price. Well done, you !
Beth at Beth's Best Hair is amazing. I love her. She is amazing with Paula young wigs. They're the only ones I buy because they're the only ones I can afford. Nobody ever knows I'm wearing a wig unless I tell him. I get so many compliments on my hair and they're Paula Young. I hate to say this but you sound a little snooty to me. Don't mean to offend you but that's how this review has come off to me.
Paula Young wigs are so under rated, in my opinion. I own several and have been just as pleased with them as I am my higher end wigs (with the exception of my Editors Pick by RW, my all time favorite). I do wear bangs so a basic cap doesn't bother me at all. Just a note, I was horrified when I first received my Jones by Estetica. Every weft on top showed so I applied some root spray and worked with it a bit. But it just goes to show duds happen no matter the brand. Thanks for this review and for giving a shootout to Beth's best hair, she is incredible and I have purchased many wigs based on her reviews!
Great review! I have several PY wigs in my closet of wigs! I agree it can be hit or miss. But we are at that point with high end brands as well. So when I order from PY my feeling is, it’s 50/50 but in the price ranges offered I’m not out so much if it turns out to be a miss.
Exactly! You expect misses in this price range, but at least you're not out a couple hundred or more when that happens and the manufacturer won't admit to the flaw and take the return. They seem to have put retailers in such a tough spot, defending the substandard products, but both the maker and the retailer seem to forget that without their customers, they have no business and should make more attempts to make it right.
I have a huge wig collection -all major brands. In my collection are two PY pieces and I have one on the way. I love my Heidi in Vanilla Swirl, I have one of the Jaclyn Smith ones in Champagne rooted-don’t care for the color, Rowan in Vanilla Swirl is on the way. I will sometimes do a basic cap when it has bangs. My main problem with PY at this point is the color selection. I like dimensional colors with a medium root. Overall I think PY can be an affordable option.
I have purchased a lot of Paula Young Wigs, and have returned more than half, I really have to have rooted, and there aren’t many choices in Paula Young. The vanilla swirl is one of them, best of Paula Young colors,, which I have purchased in Rowan and Evelyn, which actually are done quite well, Evelyn being a shorter version of Rowan And happen to be cut beautifully. I also have cerise in Moonstruck, which also is done pretty well, but I have to tweak by fixing the stupid sticking out bangs and redo them with a bit of heat. I have a few others, including the Heidi in vanilla swirl, which has lace front. Jacqueline Smith, sunset wig in the rooted silver color. They are OK. You can save quite a bit of money if you get the right wig using their sales extra discount free shipping specials. But it costs to return with shipping fees. I have not yet paid a restocking fee due to getting exchanges and shipping back in under 30 days.
This PY wig looks better on you than the one you were wearing at the start of this video. I think this color suits you better. This is the first video of yours I’ve watched and like that you plainly speak the truth, so I felt as though I could speak truthfully with you. This PY wig blows the other out of the water.
Thank you. Honestly, I think the style is a bit old-fashioned, which is fine if you like that sort of thing. It is different than the only one I saw reviewed, wish it had a more beachy type texture instead of the barrel curls. I do feel that for someone of my age, lighter strands around the face is more flattering than this very blended shade on the PY piece. As far as truth, that's all you'll get here.
You said exactly what I was going to say. This color looks much nicer on her. And the style looks much nicer than the chopped up cut on the first one she was wearing. I'm planning on getting a couple Paula Young wigs for the first time. So, I've been studying videos one their wigs. They seem to look real nice when worked with especially. I'm waiting for some of their hair swatches I ordered, to be sure I get the color I want. .
Hanson is beautiful on you. The style and color looks very natural. I have no qualms about purchasing Paula Young wigs. I came across some cute styles and the prices are very reasonable. I have one Ellen Willa wig that I love, but I can’t continue to purchase at that price point. I do agree with you about their return policy. It is hefty. I joined their Platinum Plus program and get free shipping and other benefits.
I have one wig from Paula Young. Lace front and mono top. Really comfortable, I, like you, don’t usually look at that brand. I’m glad you did this review.❤ this is wonderful! You look terrific!
Thanks for sharing!! I saw a couple that had mono top and lace front, but I think they were longer than I usually wear, would have to research a bit more.
Yes, I became a bit of a wig snob for a hot minute too. I started with PY and was very uncomfortable with all the permatease. She is a more affordable brand but I don’t recommend starting with her. After I got into lace fronts, mono tops and hand tied, I thought I’d never go back to PY. But recently wig prices skyrocketed and, now that I’m confident in my wig life, the permatease is not an issue for me. I love my old Rowan in Vanilla Swirl! I even rock a $20 Amazon wig from time to time. You can see wefts in the wind so I only wear her at home but - my snob days are over. If it looks good and feels good, then it’s good enough for me. No one sees the cap features so, as long as I’m happy, the wig is a winner:) Enjoying your channel. Thanks for the honest reviews!
Thank you so much for your wonderful comment! I hope yours is made as well as this one. It has plenty of hair, which surprised me a little bit. See Beth's Best Hair review of this one-I think besides mine, it's the only one on TH-cam (unless I missed one somehow).
@@frontporchwigchat6260 I have seen Beth’s review. It was awesome. But you finally tipped me over 😁 I’m literally buying right now 😂 Thank you so much from a new subscriber ❤️
I'm no stranger to Paula Young wigs and have Hanson in the color, Chocolate Eclair, S8264, which is a gorgeous color, and the wig is lovely. Some of Paula Young's wigs are hit and miss, but for the better part, several of them are very stylish and youthful looking, and they are quality made and comparable to some of the high end brands, too.
I think you look beautiful in Hanson, and I love this color on you too! 💛 In my experience, Paula Young's hand-tied wigs run very petite so they may fit you better. It is called their Couture Collection. 💛
Thank you, Beth! And I appreciate you stopping by to visit! I had been looking at the Couture Collection in trying to decide on the piece to try, but I liked your review of Hanson. It's a great length and the lace fronts are pretty impressive for the price range. ~Cynthia
@@frontporchwigchat6260 Sheer Style is on clearance for $69.99. It's a cute shorter A-line bob with a lace front. I have Sheer Elite which is a longer straight bob (similar to Freya), it's pretty. Sheer Drama is the curly/wavy bob but it is not a lace front. They all run very petite so should fit you better. 💛💛😊😊
Very nice! I have ordered several PY pieces. Some are hit or miss. I follow Beth from Beth's Best Hair. She reviews PY pieces and was even flown out to meet Jacquelyn Smith, another brand sold by PY. I'm waiting for Sheer Mystic to arrive. It is a fully hand tied cap. I've had one other hand tied cap from PY and I have to say it is as comfortable as my Jon Renau Julianne.
Yes, I also check out Beth from time to time. I was looking at Sheer Mystic myself, actually. Let me know what you think of it when you get it, will you? I'd be very interested to know. The only thing about Paula Young is the same issue with most brands, very few non rooted blondes. What color is your Sheer Mystic, Lisa?
What was the scraggly one you were wearing while doing the unboxing? Quite amusing to watch you sounding so surprised that the Paula Young Hanson is nice! I don't know if it is the lighting, but the color is much better on you than the other one you were wearing while doing the unboxing. I am pretty impressed - heading over to look at Paula Young. Glad to hear it runs a bit large as that is what I need. Interesting to heat about Tony of Beverly and Bell Tress and Ellen Wille. It looks great on you and no one would know that the crown is too big. Hope you are feeling better:)
You made me laugh. My husband is 71 and doesn't understand the new deconstructed waves and he uses the same word "scraggly", LOL. I generally am not much of a Paula Young fan, not even now. I've seen some true horror stories in the brand. Sure, some are nicer than others, mostly the lace front wigs. I do not wear 100% basic cap wigs so that knocks out almost all Paula Young pieces. Most are a little outdated in style, same as Gabor. The color was different because I was using mostly natural light, I have no studio lights. I generally do reviews on the front porch, but it was just too cold and I'd been sick.
Thank you for your input. Honestly, this particular January was not the way my last one was, inconsistent color, different wave pattern. I won't likely buy more Paula Young. Though the lace front was very nice, the color I had was non-dimensional and the permatease was done a bit uneven in spots, a bit too much for me, personally. And I am not a fan of barrel curls, in general, find them a bit old-fashioned. I do think Hansen has a lot to commend it, but for someone else.
I've had so many misses with PY wigs...I wear gray wigs and the caps almost ALWAYS show through...I just gave up! But this wig does look wonderful on you! I will say because of your experience with Belle Tress wigs I will never buy one!
So glad you reviewed the Hanson. I will purchase it! Thanks for reviewing it and I love that piece on you and you have convinced me. Basic or not…I love the look of the lacefront and basic after that doesn’t concern me. It looks good on you and I love it! I hope I can find a color I like.
I have worn Paula young for years. no one could ever tell I was wearing a wig.. My sister in law would always ask me is that your hair or wig. Had people ask me who does my may hair it always looks so good// like anything. there could be problems, but I have never had to return one.
I've ordered Paula Young wigs off and on for years. I wish they didn't have so many wigs with a lot of permanent tease and old lady short wigs. I don't like ALOT of permanent tease either. I'm not that excited about Jacqueline Smiths wigs, very hard to style and keep in place.
I think it looks really good on you! I have had 3 different PY wigs in cart for a month debating. I wanted to try some different styles without spending a ton of money. My first wig was a Belle Tress and thankfully, no defects. That would have crushed me. I bought through Frannie's and she would have taken it back but still. When your hair is thinning and your confidence is waning, The last thing you want is a manufacturer making you feel like you're stupid on top of it. And being new to wigs I probably would have thought I was stupid. 😢 I love your videos. This particular one has helped me so much. keep up the good work and I hope you feel better. ❤
I have two Belle tress Wigs Caliente in butter beer blonde and Roca margarita blonde, the beachy wave is much nicer in roca Margarita blonde, both look good on me, I have to put some bangs in them, but I try to avoid heat friendly, and I have to try to catch a sale, usually from Name Brand Wigs or someplace. Not likely to buy anymore as some of the hairs are coming out little by little in one of them.
I love the price of the PY wigs and some of the styes are definitely ones that I have been curios to try. But when I see reviews of PY wigs on TH-cam, more often than not I can see the wefting show through. Some influencers acknowledge it in their videos, others don't. But I can see it even when I don't play the video in full screen mode. But this style you're wearing in the video looks great, there are no wefts showing, the style is nice out of the box and the lace front is great. I would never guess it was only $70! So I'm confused about why wefts show on some styles than others. I don't know enough about the brand yet and I'd definitely want to see more PY reviews from you if you decide to go deeper into their range. I think my only hesitation would be the cap size. RW, BT, RoP and some JR are all so baggy on me as it is, if you're saying PY is too big...it would definitely need to be cut up and stitched back together to fit. For $70 though...I might be willing to put in the work. I was laughing out loud when you were talking about Ellen Wille. You are so right! Not only are they frustrating us customers with their bizarre approach to color, some of their resellers have been openly voicing their own frustrations with EW colors like the difficulty in advising customers about color and how many returns they are getting after customers loved a color they saw in one style and ordered another style in that color and were disappointed. Some resellers have already switched up their approach to only offer an extremely limited range of their styles + colors. If they keep getting returns they will eventually discontinue offering EW entirely. How can EW not respond to that?
I purchased an Easton and the cap was almost too small for me, so good to know that not all PY caps run small.I think for the price, it was a nice wig.
Paula young is a definite 50/50 for me. Fifty percent were unwearable for me, the other 50 were perfect. That’s why reviews are sooo important and appreciated! Because I wear dark brown, the front is harder to get right without looking like a harsh line. And yes! Indeed, I thought this looked like Isla b4 you even said it!
Yes, I've heard similar things from others, Geraldine, not a surprise. I'm not sure I would buy more, being the wig snob I've become, LOL. This one isn't bad if you like the style, but the next Hanson may be different, of course.
I think this wig, in this color, looks fantastic on you! It’s a shame you don’t know someone who could tighten it up a bit for you. I have seen inexpensive wigs on the American Cancer Society’s TLC website. They carry some styles from a few major brands, including Viveca Fox, Raquel Welch (lovely fibers, but my favorite style of hers does not come in an appropriate color for me), and Eva Gabor wigs (tend to have an “old lady” style or too “done” coif, and I understand they also tend to be permatease heavy and dense.); but, they also have some that, I guess, are “their” brand, cuz I’ve never seen an actual brand name on them. Some of them are quite cute; but, of course, like you I am hesitant to buy a wig from an unknown entity! Thank you for this review. I hope both you and your hubby are feeling better soon. Happy New Year!
I agree about Gabor. Those male designers have a limited view of what women want, apparently. Even us "seasoned" women don't want to look like Grandma Moses.
Based on your review I went ahead a purchased a Hanson in Silvery moon...it hasn't arrived yet and like you, I don't like buying from PY. I've been burned by just plain bad wigs from them before - but I picked this one up for 20% off with free shipping...figured it was worth the risk. It looked great on you and I can tamp down the permatease with some steam if I have to. Fingers crossed!
One thing I like about their hairpieces is the Kankalon fiber which outlasts ANY Modacrylic Fiber. Before I knew about all the other wig companies, I had plenty PY pieces, and back then they weren’t making lace fronts.
I have never paid more than return postage, no restocking fee because I return right away if I’m not happy. I’ve never had a problem with wefting that shows, and I have around 20 wigs. My wigs always come attached to a piece of cardboard, and in a net bag. My personal presence is for a little permatease on top. Have you seen the pictures of some of people who post? I don’t know what they do, but they don’t know how to style them. I have returned several wigs, b it’s always been due to not liking the color or my limited range of what looks good on me, not defects in the wigs. I watch another lady on TH-cam whose favorite wigs are January and Eclat. PY has a cute wavy/curly wig called Sweet Talk that’s adorable.
Yes, I've had Sweet Talk, loaded with more permatease than this PY wig, yikes! I have not tried the Sweet Talk Luxury with the full mono top so that might be an alternative. Eclat is lovely but that price is up there so I'm looking for a bargain in clearance for that.
I'm glad it's a keeper for you, Nancy! Hope you're doing well, good to see you again. Mine must have one of those pesky variations, was just much too roomy for my own head, which I consider petite-avg. Thanks for your comment!
Thanks for showing us this wig! I have been buying Paula Young wigs for years. Probably 60 wigs over more than 10 years. I have only had a few that had any problems. I also have other brands like The Wig Company. The Wig Company has a house brand called Statements, that are mostly lace fronts with mono parts and many great colors. I also have more expensive wigs. I would say that money does NOT buy you the best--- There are many quality wigs out there at all price points. I have never had any trouble with customer service in 20 years of wig wearing. If I paid a high price for a wig and had a problem, I know that I would be much more upset. Experiment!!! Try some other brands! They are all made in the same 5 or 6 factorys anyway!! Remember, these wigs are all sewed on a sewing machine, and then cut and styled by PEOPLE. People make mistakes. Thus quality control. A company can not Keep making wigs if they make bad wigs or have bad customer service and over charge.
In the first incarnation of my channel, I did some reviews for The Wig Comany, even gave away a Luxurious once, but I removed my association with them after an ad campaign that I considered pandering, told them to stick to selling wigs and not social justice. There was nothing wrong with their wigs, owned a few, but their way of doing business wasn't in line with my own ideals. I'm aware of how these wigs are made, but I think PY is made in the U.S. unlike most other brands that are made in Asia somewhere. Unfortunately, a company *can* keep making horrible wigs and selling them. A case in point are the Chinese scam wig companies. They're like roaches, everywhere and doing bait and switch every day, stealing intellectual property, changing their names and victimizing more and more women who don't do their research before they buy. Amazon is full of them.
@@frontporchwigchat6260 no Paula Young Wigs are made in Indonesia/Malaysia just like most wigs are, of the better wigs, the ones sold on Amazon by the Chinese companies, mostly are really not great in my opinion.
I have three Heidi in Vanilla Swirl ONE was defective WHAT A HASSLE! Cost me $9.99 and one month to get a replacement. But I did get it eventually and the replacement was good.
You look amazing in that color, Michele. And Heidi is lovely, but it should never be a hassle to replace a defective product. As I saw someone write, you buy a $400 dress, it has a defect or you just can't wear it, they don't say "Hem it, dye it, make it your own' or charge a restocking fee if they do take the return. Shouldn't be that way with wigs, either, right?
I live near a Paula young outlet and have bought my wigs there for years. If anything is wrong I can return them there. I wear Abby and only my friends know, it’s flattering and natural looking in the rooted color.
I just got done typing you a long comment that covered so much ground on wigs, but I got "trigger happy" and hit the wrong button and boom, it was gone!! I was closing open windows on the computer and closed your site by accident! Ugh! Anyway. your bad experience with that wig actually helped me to vent too, so thank you Diane
Great review, and I agree service is everything. I have had less than great experience with the customer service at Paula Young, and I would not shop there again. The only plus I can give with Paula Young is that the prices are very low and the sales good, so if you do get a bad wig you are only going to be out around $50. And I also am not purchasing the City Collection from BT because the products do not justify the price. But I don't have to. I discovered Jon Renau hand tied in July of 2023, and I am not looking back. The caps, colors, styles, and service are all impeccable.
I can't generally be comfortable with being out $50. At least if I buy something that is more likely to suit me (Jon Renau works for me, too) and decide not to keep it, I get some of the $$ back and someone else gets to try it for less than clearance prices.
Greetings Cynthia! I have several PY wigs and have bought them for years. Most of them have the velcro adjusters. Let me know if you decide to sell her! Love and blessings ♥️🙏
Miss Jean, we may need to talk about that! 😉 Yes, they have features that belie their low prices. For this price, the lace front is fabulous. God bless you in the new year, lovely lady. Email me at cspeckledhen@gmail.com if you want to talk about it!
I have a nightmare wig buy last year about this time. I wanted Esthetica Jamison so bad and finally bought. The wig arrived and due to some life curve balls back then and was very busy, pretty much didn't do much with Jamison other than the initial look and quick try on and then put in the box. I basically forgot about the wig and remembering decided to take out of box and wear to meet friend for coffee. OMG the wig turned into this wild thing. No matter what I did the flat box hair on the left side would not free up. I finally resorted to washing, reasoning it would return to its style. Nope nothing. It was too late to return and this wig that so many reviewers raved about was junk. On closer inspection I found uniform short 3/8-1/2" cuts near the crown and figured that's why the left side was so listless and flat. I took it over to the salon thinking someone could do a number on this wig and the stylist basically told me I had a defective wig and started pointing out defects, that I didn't see. It wasn't box hair. The wefts on the left side were less fiber than on the right. and somehow less in number - it was missing a row. It was crap construction and should have been caught at quality control. This wig hadn't been worn by anyone and didn't show any signs of being cut or messed with. This came from Esthetica that way. You won't find me wearing Esthetica wigs anytime soon. This past year I've added 2 Raquel Welsh with a 3rd Play it Straight this Christmas to my two Henry Margu and two weeks ago bought Ellen Wille Narano - thrilled with each and every one of them, basically ready to wear out of the box.
I have had no defective RW wigs, though I cannot stand the fibers and the speed with which they degrade so I have quit buying them, as well as Gabor. I've had Play It Straight, but that style is not made with the Tru2Life fibers, it's regular synthetic so it will last longer. I don't think they're producing any with normal synthetic fibers anymore, though I could be wrong. Remember that every brand can produce a defect now and again. The difference is the attitude when you attempt to return it as defective that makes me angry. Sorry about your Jamison, what a pain!
@@frontporchwigchat6260 Yes Play it Straight is Vibralite. I like the synthetics which I why I'm buying them while I can. Synthetic colors are selling out and most never seem be be available and continue to show "backordered". The HF styles seem to be increased in price.
Hi Cynthia, hope you are feeling better. I really enjoyed this video. I guessed right away what brand you were talking about. This hanson looks fabulous and right up your alley. I took a look at the stock photo and it seems pretty close to what you got. That lace front is really, really nice. Too bad it is too large for you. I took a look at their website just now. I clicked on hand tied wigs and up comes Hunter by Estetica. Well, we all know that isn't true. At least in the description that is not mentioned but for people not paying attention that is not good. Sooo, makes me cautious. It's almost impossible for me to pick out a maybe winner because of so many old styles on a young face, lol. I also like that January you have on, real pretty. Happy New Year and thanks again for such a wonderful review.
I love Paula young wigs❤I have so many i actually do have Hansen and mine is more Beachy wave..... I also have Malibu waves and Rosalie and 1 other one and I can't remember. My colors are the 3 different reds the 27,30 and the Oh I can't remember the other maybe shaded auburn... And I have all the styles in all 3 colors... All the other styles do resemble the ones in the catalogue your hanson looks quite different than mine though....
There is also a Paula Young Fan wig support group on Facebook which was a great help to me. It took me a few years to order from Paula Young. It can be hit or miss. I haven't order another since my two reviews. I just haven't seen anything that I just wanted to try and I don't like gambling. But honestly? Lately, it seems to be more of a gamble with some of these manufacturers. That one is pretty but it's a shame it's on the larger size. It does remind me of the general shape of Isla by TOB.I agree, TOB isn't that much better. IDK what Belle Tress is up to. This new line they put out is ridiculously priced. My wig reviewing is probably coming to a halt after I finish up Alexandria and Gabrielle.
That makes me so sad for you. Some of these prices are really ridiculous especially when you’re talking about a simple basic wig from one of the Big Brands. It’s kind of scary to me because what the heck are poor people supposed to do then. I guess just wear a hat as long as they can keep affording those with the way prices are rising 😔
I don't blame you, Rachel. I don't even buy wigs to review, only with an eye toward wearing them and it's been very hard finding anything I can afford. At least my January was about half price or I wouldn't have it.
Gina, that's what I wonder. I can buy what I want, but I am still very thrifty. My hand tied January was a half price clearance wig or I couldn't have purchased it.
@@frontporchwigchat6260I don’t buy them to review either. I only buy to wear. I’ve sold a very few so I have several to choose from. I just haven’t found that wig I truly feel like me wearing and it’s been over 5 years!
Hi Cynthia, nobody does reviews like you do, without fear of honest critique. I really appreciate that. My very first wig was purchased at a local shop and it was Raquel Welch Portrait Mode. That wig started falling apart within a week! The wefting came loose in 2 places and I had to sew it back. And then the metal stays in both ear tabs broke. I contacted the shop and they told me I'd have to contact the manufacturer, which I didn't do. Just made it work. Do you think manufacturers sell "seconds." As is pieces that didn't pass inspection but are good enough to pass off on someone? I can't help but think that this shop was buying from a source like that and charging full price. I've never had any Raquel Welch wig after that one that fell apart. They've all been fine, so I've always wondered.
Thank you and I'm so sorry for that awful experience. I've often wondered if some retailers buy batches of seconds and re-sell them as completely perfect. I think after they began losing some business during Covid if they let things go that should never have passed inspection as well. I've never had a RW wig that was anything other than perfection, either. That is suspicious for sure, though we're always given the line that defects can happen in any brand. That is true, but lately, I see more reports of shoddy workmanship than I ever have and have experienced it twice in the last couple of months. I do not appreciate being treated like a hysterical woman like some doctors can do when presented with real evidence of a health issue. That dismissive attitude angers me more than anything. They deserve to lose customers, brands with that attitude as well as retailers who have no interest in customer satisfaction.
That is what I've found from others' experiences. I did not feel completely right in this one, to be honest. It just wasn't me and did not really look like the stock photos (which happens often with many brands).
This Paula Young wig looks amazing on you. Can it be parted on the right side? My bio hair,(what's left) grows that way. I have a natural cow lick on the right side that allows me to comb my hair in that direction only. I would appreciate your answer ASAP!
Yes, you could part it on the right side since there are no mono features, just the lace front, which is where most people's eyes land when they see you. You'd have to train it a bit to lay down at whichever place you part it. I used to do a part, press it down and run some flesh colored eyeshadow down that part on basic cap wigs. But, every Hanson could be a bit different, of course. Some may respond to the manipulation better than others.
For me, I need a lace front AND mono part AND heat-friendly (because I just can't handle the shine of regular synthetics). This one looks very nice on screen, though.
That means you have a lot of choices as long as you can afford them! Belle Tress's prices as well as Tressallure's are out of control. Most synthetics have a shine like a young girl's healthy hair, not really that unnatural say like doll's hair, though some brands' fibers may have a bit more than others. I mean, there are even hair glossers for regular hair care, right? This one is not bad on the shine, have seen worse from Noriko, and that shine is gone pretty fast. I am personally sick of heat friendly being so prevalent. Those, to me, are me, not user-friendly. I don't want to put heat to my wig. I want it to stay like it always is and not get crunchy. It's part of the joy of wig wearing, not having to do stuff to it. I hated doing things to my own hair when I had more of it. Heat defiant wigs never last as long as regular synthetics, but I think Gabor, Raquel Welch and Tressallure went to HF because they wear out faster and get them more business. I'm with you on the lace front and mono features!
@@frontporchwigchat6260 I wear mostly Gabor's Trend Alert and RW Flirt Alert, and whatever "steal" I can find in the clearance sections. Good deals ARE out there. I always buy on sale - 30% off, and this time of year the clearance sections even have 40% off or more. Thanks for your reviews!!
You're probably talking about Vanilla Swirl, right? It's definitely close to Palm Springs Blonde. Honestly, I don't want the rooting at all. Even my January, which supposedly has a #18 root, is too darkly rooted for me. You can never guarantee the shade of a darker root on any one piece-I've had Palm Springs Blonde on other pieces that had a more subtle rooting than my January so I'm not entirely happy with the color of my current one. I am on the quest for 100% non-rooted ashy blondes, a nigh to impossible mission. As for the form of Hanson, though it's soft and pretty, I do prefer a more beachy modern texture than the barrel curls. Hanson is a good place to start, though, for someone who has never experienced the brand, especially for it's upgraded lace front, a great buy in that price range. Thank you for the comment!
I have a million dollar question for you. About 7 years ago I ordered a Tony of Beverly wig from an on line retailer and it was my absolute favorite wig ever. I wore it almost every day for about a year and finally had to get rid of it. I tried to order it again twice and each time I was told it was no longer available. After pressing the issue with an email and another call, the retailer finally said that I could actually order it again but it would have to be ordered in "multiples". What? Eileen, have you ever heard of such a thing? Looking back, I would have cloned the darn thing if I knew they would suddenly stop making it. Thank you Diane
Eileen is The Crazy Wig Lady. I'm Cynthia. All I can say is that sometimes, wig retailers order/buy up discontinued styles from the manufacturers to sell in wig shows and such. Other than that, I'm not sure why they'd tell you that you as a private customer would have to buy multiples. I do hate when they discontinue great styles.
I actually think the PY wig looks way better on you than the January wig. The style just suits you. even the color looked great against your skin even tho the lighting was prob not the best in that room. You’ve done a super job of controlling your anger over that bad wig debacle by Bell Tres. These companies need to lose business in a very public way. Consistency is the name of the game. Their quality control people must be asleep💤 on the job. 😴 maybe when you feel better you can show us PY outside in daylight? Thanks! Diane
I did plan to go outside, but yesterday was awful, bone-chilling and I thought I'd better be cautious. Maybe today I can do that, weather is supposed to be better. I agree about quality control, but maybe their directive has been to ignore certain things and pass them along? I don't know how they do quality control, but frankly, lately, it sucks IMO.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I looked at that YT channel and the same wig by PY looked a bit different to me. I think the way she films it from above her head distorted the view somewhat. We're seeing it from higher up and I couldn't get a clear idea of what it looks like at eye level. Did you notice the same thing? I've never seen a wig filmed that way before. I have slowly been moving away from wigs for more than a year because of the high prices, inaccurate information (including stock photos) poor quality control and other questionable/mysterious issues regarding wigs. I feel like its becoming a crap shoot. I admit that I an becoming more comfortable with my own bio hair since it has really grown out nicely since I was sick, but would still like to supplement with wigs if only I could afford them and trust that I wouldn't have to send them back because of defects. Also, why can't these companies be honest and say that a stylist spent an hour "zhuzhing" it up? and just tell us that when we get it, it won't even remotely resemble the actual wig we ordered? Thanks for listening. Happy New year 2024 to you!🎉 Diane @@frontporchwigchat6260
it does look different, I agree. The only review on TH-cam that I ever found was that one and it seems to be more of the true beachy wave than the rounded, more old fashioned style of this wig I had. It's still not bad, but not all that close to the wig on the other review. @@chincaglieria I have the same issue with some of the reviews, especially the ones that say spritz with water to separate the fibers; um, that doesn't work for more time than it takes to dry and fall flat again. One wig I hated, would not get any height, even me turning it upside down and spritzing with hair spray. The reviewer supposedly used just water to get that separated layer going, but no way that really would have worked. I don't mind being shown how the wig can look, but if it's tampered with too much, they need to show the original form so women are not so disappointed and expect to work with it.
I have both the January as well as about 50+ Paula Young wigs, clip-ons, toppers, head-band wigs, etc. 24/14 is my favorite color, besides 17/101 & 18/22. (& dont let the "warm" in the name of 18/22 fool u. I don't think they shud hav the "warm" in the color tirle of "Warm Toffee" bcz it is more of a cool tone than 24/14 is, which u r rite, 24/14 is a neutral to cool tone) 24/14 is almost the exact color my hair wz in h.s. Hanson looks gr8 on u ! Annnnnd, this wig dznt hav that weird defect on your front left side like your defective Jon Renau definitely had. I hav a few Jon Renau's, but so grateful 2 u so I can b informed. I don't want 2 take the chance with JR anymore. Once u start receiving the Paula Young catalogs, u can get this wig for 20-30% off w code on back of catalog. & if u allow them 2 send u cell txts, I got a wig similar 2 this 1 for 40% off ! Just b sure 2 read their txts wen u get 1, bcz most last only a day. 😊 & both sale types usually incl free shpng. & yes, Beth's Best Hair is gr8 for styling tips for Paula Young & Jaclyn Smith wigs. She sure hz found her calling w PY wigs. So happy I found her too.
Hi, Diane, actually the horrid defect was on Belle Tress, not Jon Renau. Thankfully, at least so far, none of my JR wigs have had any issues that I recall. I noticed that the Warm Toffee was not really warm at all, too! Thanks for the tips on buying Paula Young. I have had so many emails from them, I got the pattern of their sales. This one was 20% off, I think, but I'm not sure I'll be buying more of this brand. I'll have to think on it more because it is just far too roomy on me, can't get a truly secure fit. If someone has an avg-large head, this is a good brand to try, after some research into styles.
I live near a Paula young outlet and have bought my wigs there for years. If anything is wrong I can return them there. I wear Abby and only my friends know, it’s flattering and natural looking in the rooted color.
That wig looks gorgeous on you. The color, the extended lace-front, it looks completely natural. I would say you gotta win on your hands and for a fabulous price. Well done, you !
The lace front is actually quite nice! I have to have my lace fronts.
I didn’t know how many people agreed with me on how good you look in that Hanson by PY wig. It’s a keeper! Color, style just perfect on you.
Thank you! @@chincaglieria
I have to say that wig, style and color looks fantastic on you. In my opinion it looks better than January. This color is beautiful on you.
I had just typed a comment suggesting you check out "Beth's Best Hair," and then you mentioned her. She's amazing with Paula Young wigs.
She really is a star in that department!
@@katharinepayne8747. She is. I’m subscribed to so many wig reviewers. I tend to pass by this channel because of her attitude. Sorry. Not sorry.
Absolutely, defects can happen in any brand. Yes, Beth is the go-to Paula Young reviewer!
I own several Paula Young wigs and have had great luck with them.
Paula Young are the best. I wear bangs, too, so stick with basic caps.
Yes, Vanilla Swirl is lovely if you are a rooted wig gal. It's sort of like Palm Springs Blonde from Jon Renau.
Thank you for the compliment and I'm glad you're happy with the Paula Young brand! These days, we really need affordable options.
No one sees the cap features so, as long as I’m happy, the wig is a winner:)
Enjoying your channel. Thanks for the honest reviews!
Thank you! Vanilla Swirl is a nice shade, rather like the Palm Springs Blonde in Jon Renau.
Thanks for the info. I have come to believe that the most important factor, for me, is fit. I am not up to doing surgery. Color is good.
same here. lovely wig, just up my alley, but i'm a petite head. 😪
Me too. very petite. Lace won't lay right, ears get smushed,.

I have many, many PY wigs. Some are hits, some are duds. But after your review, I’m finally convinced, I’m getting this one !!! You look gorgeous ❤
I LOVE this on you. Very good looking. I looked at the site and saw two that I like a lot but they don't have a petite medium for my little head.
You'd need a petite in this brand or it would swim on you, Louanne. Thanks for the comment!
Wow I think that looks fabulous on you and great color choice ❤
Thank you, Gina!
Sorry to tell you that Hanson looks a lot better than January make you younger and natural I would start look at Paula Young from now on
Thank you for your input.
It was 2015 when I ordered my last PY wig. I had had a lot of hit and miss buys.
This one however looks beautiful on you! Thanks for this review.
You are so welcome!
I've had so many misses with PY wigs...I wear gray wigs and the caps almost ALWAYS show through...I just gave up! But this wig does look wonderful on you! I will say because of your experience with Belle Tress wigs I will never buy one!
Appreciate the comment. Paula Young is definitely hit or miss for most, it seems. @@k.popper2620
This is adorable on you!
Thank you!
So glad you reviewed the Hanson. I will purchase it! Thanks for reviewing it and I love that piece on you and you have convinced me. Basic or not…I love the look of the lacefront and basic after that doesn’t concern me. It looks good on you and I love it! I hope I can find a color I like.
I'm glad it was helpful, Patricia!
I have worn Paula young for years. no one could ever tell I was wearing a wig.. My sister in law would always ask me is that your hair or wig. Had people ask me who does my may hair it always looks so good// like anything. there could be problems, but I have never had to return one.
That's wonderful! I'm glad you are happy with the brand.
Ive bought Paula Young wigs for many years.Ive never had any problems. They are made in Brockton Mass.Where i am from.
That’s where the company is, they are not made there, usually it’s Malaysia or Thailand something like that where most wigs are seeming to be made.
I love that wig on you! Looks good right out of the box. It is a keeper 😊
Thank you, Sue! She is a good one to try if you've never tried Paula Young, I think.
I'm glad it was helpful! I'm sure I'll be better soon, not one to just lay around and do nothing.
Also - a little dry shampoo takes out the shine really well. Of course, that’s to use if you are keeping the wig.
Yes, I generally use dry shampoo for shine and also to add body. It's an old trick and it does work nicely.
Coco at Coco’s Hair Solutions is another Paula Young wig YT reviewer, not solely, but she has reviewed many.
I've seen her videos, but her lighting is usually not great, unfortunately.
Very natural! Looks great on you!
Thank you!!
Let me know how that turns out when you get it! Thank you.
I'd LOVE to know how your Hanson turned out--- did you like it? Thx
This Paula Young looks fantastic on you!
BTW: I’d love to know about the issue you had with Belle Tress.
But you look wonderful in this wig!
Thank you. The video is "When Wig Manufacturers Gaslight Customers". Just search on the channel and you'll find it..
One thing I like about their hairpieces is the Kankalon fiber which outlasts ANY
Modacrylic Fiber. Before I knew about all the other wig companies, I had plenty PY pieces, and back then they weren’t making lace fronts.
Good to know! The fibers seem nice.
Sweet talk? That's not a PY wig....Gabor I think
@@lexseec6124 oops you are correct! Thanks!
Yes, I've had Sweet Talk, loaded with more permatease than this PY wig, yikes! I have not tried the Sweet Talk Luxury with the full mono top so that might be an alternative. Eclat is lovely but that price is up there so I'm looking for a bargain in clearance for that.
I bought this one too. For a budget brand, it's really a lovely wig. Fits my small head very well.
I'm glad it's a keeper for you, Nancy! Hope you're doing well, good to see you again. Mine must have one of those pesky variations, was just much too roomy for my own head, which I consider petite-avg. Thanks for your comment!

This wig looks wonderful on you, and i would think she was expensive. January is also wonderful.

WOWZER!! I love this wig on you!!
Thank you! Hanson is a nice style.
I hate when that happens! I found that, at least with Windows, I can do Control-Z and it replaces what I wrote.
@@frontporchwigchat6260 I read your tip 3 hours too late!😀
I think you w/h been in agreement with my comments.

OMG REALLY? WOW Paula Young? WOW, that looks great for Paula Young
I agree! This one has a lot of hair, no exposed wefts and nice fibers. I just wish it fit better.
I love Paula young. Been wearing for long time. Some are bad I agree. But I have learned how to pick good ones.
I'm glad you've found a brand you love!
When I first saw the wig, I thought it was Henry Margu's Jules...which I absolutely love!
It is quite similar, actually, including the lace front-I seem to recall Jules having a deeper one, but I could be wrong.
Appreciate you watching, Donna!
🎉🥳🎊And a very Happy New Year to you too!!
Same to you!
I hope you can feel better soon ❤
Thank you! Me, too. I'm not used to being sick and this thing is hanging on for dear life.
I agree that mine is different from what I expected. I wanted the more beachy wave type I saw online, not the barrel curls.
It looks really good on you!!
Oh thank you!
Love it ( you look like First Lady Laura Bush)!
Thank you, Linda! I always thought she was a very attractive woman.
I really like that wig on you!
Thank you, that's very sweet. I think it's a good affordable option for those with average to avg-large head size.
Looks great on you!
Thank you, Juanita. It's wearable if I glue it down at the lace area. Wish the color had more distinct highlights, but it's a pretty one anyway.
Great video! Thank you! What wig are you wearing while you unbox this wig?
That is the Jon Renau January in Palm Springs Blonde. Thank you!
Nice wig. I have ordered from py quite a few times and ended up sending most of them back. You take your chances...you may get a good one or not.
@@frontporchwigchat6260 Thank you so much for your honest answer and for ANSWERING so quickly.
I have most of my wigs are Paula Young
I'm glad they work well for you!
I agree! To me 30% off is the regular price. I prefer 40-60% off because we are on a fixed income.
Paula young has the same color as your January, I think you would be happier with that, but otherwise, Hanson looks great on you
You're probably talking about Vanilla Swirl, right?
Beautiful
Thank you, Cindy! Hope you're doing well!
@@frontporchwigchat6260 oops sorry I goofed.
It’s a hit.❤
Love it!
Very pretty😊
Thank you.
Nice wig. What is her name please and color? Thank you
It was on screen a few times, but the style is called Hanson and the color is Mocha Frosted...color code 24/14. Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much. Looks so great on you !
Thank you, Connie! Happy New Year!
Happy New year 2024 to you!🎉 Diane
@@frontporchwigchat6260
it does look different, I agree. I don't mind being shown how the wig can look, but if it's tampered with too much, they need to show the original form so women are not so disappointed and expect to work with it.
yes looks like Isla.
Glad you see that, too. Thanks, Michele!
I love this wig. Are you wanting to sell this?
I am, though I have two women lined up for it, waiting to hear the final word from the first one. Thank you for your interest, though!
Thank you. I’m interested if the other two fall through 😀

@@frontporchwigchat6260 yeah, I laughed at my own comment, but it def is true!😂
I sent mine back. It looked nothing like that.
Ah, I figured someone would chime in on that, thank you! I'm not surprised at all. Inconsistency is the name of the game even at the high end prices.
Paula Young are huge on me. 20.5 head
Oh, yeah, this one would swim on you. It does me.

You gotta get SHOWGIRL by Mane Attraction.
Hi there, Michele! I think Showgirl is gorgeous, though I don't wear long wigs anymore. Mane Attraction is underrated. Glad to see you!
I live near a Paula young outlet and have bought my wigs there for years. If anything is wrong I can return them there. I wear Abby and only my friends know, it’s flattering and natural looking in the rooted color.
I'm glad you found something that works well for you! How fortunate to live near an outlet.
