    Hi Nick seen you on D and J projects video .Really enjoyed your videos best of luck in your blogging.
    I used to work at ground work on New builds and patios driveways ect though specialised more on flagging kerbing always thought there was to much handling in brick paving though never turned any paving jobs down.
    Nice quality work you and your team do.

    I want to do my own front garden using gravel grids for the cars and a strip of paving of some sort going in the middle from the front door in a straight line to meet the start of the public pavement. So the two bigger gravel square patches and the paving in between like a sandwich.
    I'm nervous about all my utilities though wjen diggon etc and that's even if i get a device to check the depth of them.

    Great video! Nice to see decent tradesmen who do a quality job. You must be proud of your team. 👍🏻😎 Can I ask you a question though - I have a driveway with large slabs that I’d like to have replaced with block paving and wondered if it’s possible to just lift the large paving slabs, re-whack the hardcore below and sand and block pave it? The current slabs have always been pretty solid with no movement, they’re just old looking, even when pressure washed.

    Great video :) I have an existing herringbone patterned block paved drive & each year, I'm always getting grass and weeds growing back in-between the blocks, no matter how many times I pull the weeds/grass up and re-sand it. I am going to lift all the blocks right up & clean each block and then relay them. What should I put underneath the blocks first to prevent this re-growth? weed killer, white vinegar? a membrane first then lay the blocks, then the chemical weed killer, then sand?? Is there a sand that has a weed killer mixed in?? Any advice would be much appreciated please. Thank you.

    • @BPPavingnottingham
      @BPPavingnottingham  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First I would saturate it in weed killer , then you can buy a sand week killer mix … over hanging trees , plants and bushes will contribute so try and keep that away and the seeds off the drive by brushing

    Hi Nick, great job and loads of useful tips.
    Popped over from D&J. Thanks Stevie for the share.
    A question, if you're unsure, that's fine. Aldi have a wacker plate for £250. It's called Scheppach 6.5HP Petrol Compactor
    Not expecting magic but do you think it's worth it for a 5 DIY guys to chip in together. Or better to hire a wacker plate. Only down side is time limit for a hire item in my opinion.
    Thanks for the great video. Looking forward to more.

    • @BPPavingnottingham
      @BPPavingnottingham  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can’t comment on the exact plate as I haven’t used. I have used ones of this size though and they are good for smaller projects patios etc…
      I’d imagine it does the job and at 58kg it’s going to work.
      However to hire one the same or bigger it’s going to be around £30 for the day so it depend also on the level of use your going to get out of it

    • @ExtremeShez
      @ExtremeShez ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@BPPavingnottingham it'll be £50 each from 5 of us for keeps. So long run it will work out cheaper. If all of us can get our own patios done, massive saving and we can grab the compacter whenever we're ready without the worry of running out if time. Thanks Nick, much appreciated bud 👍

    Great video guys, subscribed already!, just wanted to ask about the paving if that's okay.
    Is it necessary to plan the sub base and the paving so it has a incline so any rain water will flow into a drain rather than sitting under the door step or does it depend on the size of the area?. I only ask as my block paving on the back of my house I am seeing areas where the water sits and its because some of the blocks have sunk so it needs the blocks taking out and re-levelling but would you recommend a drain to at least stop the water sitting against my back door step.

    • @BPPavingnottingham
      @BPPavingnottingham  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ideally you want to fall the water away from the property into drains, gravel traps and planters.
      When we install the driveway we set the screed bars to allow fall to get the rain away from
      The property.
      When this isn’t possible we install pvc drainage or a gravel trap to stop the water getting to the property

    Hi, great video. We're wanting to block pave our front garden and make it a driveway so I'm doing a little research. 2 questions, if you're going directly onto grass, do you just need to dig it up and then lay the stone stuff on top of the mud? And do you put cement on like a grout to seal the bricks in? Also, I noticed some drains at one point, do you need to put drainage in?
    Thanks

    • @BPPavingnottingham

      Yes you have to dig out to a foot deep and install a type 1 mot subbase … no it’s doesn’t need grouting …. Just a fine sand brushed in at the end… drainage depends on a lot of factors if you need it.. I’d suggest you get a professional to do it if you can… there’s a lot to it 👊🏼😊
