The rules are pretty simple. You only score points when you serve. The ball has to pass the service box and has to hit the front wall first. Return shots must hit the front wall before hitting the floor. If after a shot is made the ball bounces on the floor twice, the point is over.
Like others have said, the racquets have evolved big time. My guess is that these guys were using at least 225 gram vs. what I'm currently using at 150 gram with more power, precision and overall strength than what was available during the early 90s. Swain and Sweeney are legends to say the least. Croakies and short shorts anyone? lol
i was too until i realized that it only hurts a bit after but never immediately following...especially after you actually make your shot :) if you dive and hit your hip or hand but make it...you are back on your feet and too caught up to worry about the pain....unfortunately though, right now i have a 5" bruise on my right hip from landing wrong...and didnt get my shot either...bummer.
@Fernandez218 im not a huge tennis fan but ill watch it once in a while, ping pongs a blast and they very rarely show it, i have never seen racquetball on espn, its a real shame because its about the most exciting racquet sport there is
@Fernandez218 just gotta watch during the opens or wimbledon, its usually on one channel or the other. Dont forget all the coverage of tiger woods they have on there. As far as diversity in sports go, theyre missing out big time, and since when is poker a sport, is keeping your face muscles straight a real calorie burner?
Terrific opening rally - think I counted 5 great gets by Sweeny!! Also, love the old school eye-wear, will have to find me a pair. Thx 4 posting but why did u cut it off at 9-10 score?! LOL
@vgmaster9 Racquetball more coverage than tennis. Now that is really a good laugh, considering than there are 10 times more tennis players than racquetball players.

Fair point..racquetball generally is not a game of finesse like squash is. However, there are different game styles, such as power (like these two players) and control. I guess the counter-point that some folks might make is: squash is slow and boring. But I enjoy personally appreciate and enjoy both sports.
@SportSquash Let's be honest. Tennis kicks squash and racquetball's ass. There are 10 times more tennis players than squash and racquetball combined. The world knows who Agassi, Nadal, Sampras and Federer are. Does anyone know who Power, Shabana, Nicol and the Khans are (Squash), nor does anyone know who Hogan, Swain, Walenchuk and Monchik are (racquetball). Get over it, tennis players make millions while squash and racquetball players are luck to buy a deli (props Suds).
Thanks for cutting the video off at 9-10 in a game to 11. I don't think I will be able to sleep for weeks with all the suspense.
This video reeks of the '90s.
And Cliff's drive serve is nuts.
I'm just beginning to learn racquetball, and watching the pro's is amazing.
Racquetball should have as much TV coverage as Tennis. This should be seen on ESPN.
dude cliff does the best drive serves i have ever seen! go snake!!!
THANKS! ill be hitting the court tomorrow and will try the machine gun drill.
@grayguru lots of accuracy involved forsure!

Would love to see the draws from this event

Damn...I need to step it up!
Cliff is the best player that ever played the game
Those guys are good. Is that court 20 ft. wide? It looks wider - probably the camera angle.
racquetball isnt just a power sport. almost every shot these guys take have strategy behind them
Cliff Swain is a beast!
Probably for the same reason they have tennis and ping pong.
I keep expecting death from an accidental hit.

Videos can be any size.
nice diving

Cliff Swain is my hero. I'm sure every1 thinks this...but I wonder if they had the newer racquets. Could have used some more stylish goggles too..geez
WAHT.
Guys, I want to be as awesome as them.
Cliff is GREAT!
These guys are FUCKING tough! I mean my mom is good but these guys!!!!!!!!!!

Kane is just giggling
I am afraid of diving :(
@Fernandez218
Then you haven't watched must EPSN, cause I see it on there alot.
it's a completely different game..
Terrific opening rally - think I counted 5 great gets by Sweeny!! Also, love the old school eye-wear, will have to find me a pair. Thx 4 posting but why did u cut it off at 9-10 score?! LOL
@mrbobevans
I'm just saying this be be more popular than it already is.

They don't. It's like volleyball that way.
Hey Cliff - can you pull your shorts up a little higher?
Swain should wear tighter shorts.
Ha sorry buddy but the file size can only be so large. Here's a hint though...it goes to 5 games (they play best 3 out of 5) and one of them wins...
watch?v=dMprOXNAvKM
a good drill for working on your diving without actually doing it.
The commentators obviously don't play very much they don't even know what's going on
Taber Quigley Mike Ray was a Top pro. The other guy Leaf Elsmo was just some lacrosse announcer they picked up. He sucked.
wtf...so who wins?
I prefer squash.
SOCCER IS THE BEST
@DOWNundah123 It is lame, if you have horrible hand-eye coordination. Maybe you should stick to games like football-watching and elbow-raising.

just not as entertaining as squash
Is there any finesse in this sport or is it all just hard-hitting? Compared to squash, racquetball looks so crude..
