    Man, this track is like 1 of those that you'd hear at the end of a long 45min deephouse mix. Something to cool the party down. Just perfect for the moments when you're out on a long night drive.

    Thanks for the kind comment, I have been working on making a final aragement of this and finishing it as a track on the Akai ASQ10 I just got a few weeks ago. I'm hoping to put together a 3 or 4 track free digital release, I have the grooves there it's just working out a decent arangement and making the mix sound right that take alot of time, trial and error.

    @davethedoobie I must have missed this comment when you first posted it but you are right, the acapella should go over the top a treat, I have tears on a compilation LP but I will have to hunt down the single now to get that acapella.
    Oh and Larry Heard goes without saying, have you heard the 25 Years From Alpha EP he released a couple of years ago? Back to the oldschool production techniques and sounding deeped than ever.

    Play Frankie Knuckles feat Robert Owens 'Tears' As it's a great acapella to experiment doing deep house with. Listen to some vintage Larry Heard too!
    Good luck with the production course - like the hardware too.

    Dope man, good stuff. Chill. Makes me want to go try this at home! I'm going to put together a 707 and 727 kit for my 2000xl, we'll see how that goes! =)

    Yes you have individual outputs for every sound apart from the Tamb & Clap aswell as the Rim & Cow are grouped on the same fader and output.

    Was wondering where the voice samples came from. "Chicago Hip house Documentary, 1989".
    Bangin track by the way.

  • @snolan1990

    This is always a hot topic and at the same time quite a subjective thing.
    My reel to reel seems to record the low mids a bit louder than everything else resulting in a warm full sound and I think this is a fairly universal thing.
    You also have the option of recording it a bit hot to give a hint of tape saturation that can fuzz up a track nicely.
    If your thinking about getting a reel to reel then I would say they are a nice thing to have but not absolutely essential unless you dont want a PC.

  • @snolan1990
    @snolan1990  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @hiphopdied1213 I don't normally go for mods but that one looks to be superbly thought out and executed, I have to say I am tempted. I haven't really got the cash at the moment but I might give that a go at some point in the future.
    Thanks for the tip :)

    Glad you like it, the MPC is a beast, I had been thinking of trading in the SP-808 & MC-303 for one but then the prices went up a bit :(. I love your jams, you have a nice collection of stuff there.
    I have a full 80 file sample pack that I made of the 707 & 727 if you want them send me your email and I'll send them over.

  • @snolan1990
    @snolan1990  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks.
    Well I'm leaving for Uni tomorrow morning to start a 3 year course in music production. Hopefully that will sharpen up my prodcution skills as well as putting me face to face with people who might be able to play guitar or bass and getting me in contact with the kind of people I might wan't to get an EP pressed with.
    My main goal is to get an vinyl EP out of this kind of stuff but I know my production has a way to go before its release worthy.

  • @snolan1990
    @snolan1990  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Captain2Pig sorry this is such a late reply. The cowbell is just straight RZ-1. The 707 and 727 had a little bit of shuffle going on, the chord sequence is running through the JX-3P's internal sequencer and is simply being triggered by the 707 rim, I haven't been able to get the chords to sound anywhere near as good when sequencing them via MIDI and I honestly have no idea why. I'm planning to release this track along with a few other jams on a 12" next summer so I'll have this finished by then

    @snolan1990  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @feudideu I'm planning on pressing it indipendantly so I suppose in theory it will be my own label.
    I have been looking into the costs of mastering, pressing and sleeves on a small scale and it looks like I should be able to do it and break even.
    Thanks for your interest :)

  • @snolan1990
    @snolan1990  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    The reel to reel was simply recording the track in this instance. But it could then be used to overdub further synth or samples on the second stereo track.

    hope u find a pg200 for ya 3p brother brings em alive good sound :)

  • @snolan1990
    @snolan1990  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not necessarily, it just happened to work out that I preferred to use 3P for chords and Juno on Bass in this track. Both synths have their own sound but both are also quite diverse, it all depends on the context of the track and what sound you are aiming for.

  • @snolan1990
    @snolan1990  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah I can see where your comming from and I was thinking fo selling mine for a while but for me it's just too useful as a general effects unit, loop sampler and all round workhorse. I put most of my salmples through the SP-808 before they go into my S900 just for ease of chopping an general EQ.
    If you can find one I would absolutely advice getting the CF card reader, Mine cost me about £60 but It removes the dreaded zip drive buzz, drive busy error and increases sample time to hours.

  • @snolan1990
    @snolan1990  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    In this instance the reel to reel is just recording the track, I had only just gotten it at the time of making this video so I wanted to test it all out.
    I do use it to record tracks though and when I come to finishing tracks for vinyl release then I will record them on the reel to reel so I can send it off to be mastered from tape. This way all of the analog synth and drums will never have been transferred to digital at any point between recording and listening to the record.

    Hi mate, I wish you the very best with this. Been looking at putting my own vinyl out too but its going to cost around a grand for 500 12"
    Im not convinced 500 people buy vinyl anymore thanks to poxy torrents.
    I wish I was as confident as you about breaking evens.
    Can I ask who your using for distribution?
    Keep me informed how you get one. Wish you the best of luck with it.

    What is the reel to reel tape player/recorder doing? Recording the audio, or playing it, or what? Also, is that how you record some of your songs? If so, what do you do with the Reel-to-Reel tape once it's been recorded? Sorry for all the questions, I'm a gear nerd, and you seem to have it all, man! haha

  • @8-BitHeart79
    @8-BitHeart79 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sorry....Also I noticed you have a Tr-707. Am I correct? If so, are the individual outputs on the back for each sound just trigger outs or do they function as audio, enabbling you to put each sound on its own individual track?

    The Juno-60 & JX-3P can't really be equally compared because of there direefences.
    The general opinion is that the Juno produces a bigger warmer sound but then you have to remember that the 3P has dual oscilators so can produce some sounds the Juno would never be able to.
    If I could only have one I would keep the 60 but you might prefer the sound and interface of the 3P, I'd say listen to as many demo's as you can and then go from there.
    One thing I would say is they work very well together.

    Did you sample Alan Braxe on this song? :)

    • @snolan1990
      @snolan1990  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, the only thing sampled on this track was the vocals. I used to have a policy of not sampling other House for my own House tunes, I don't really make any House tunes any more so it isn't an issue any longer. Thanks for watching.
