Lovely looking car. I've heard of the Toyota Mark II, it was sold here in the U.S.A. as the Cressida, but I've never heard of the Chaser. I believe they used basically the same body styling, and the same drivetrain, but used different trim, different grille. I've always liked inline engines rather than V configured engine. I would think an inline six would be easier to service than a V6 engine, since all the cylinders are in one line.
Reminds me very much of a late 80s or early 90s Cressida which was a great car. All that internal dashboard switch gear and stuff (audio, aircon etc) is straight from the Cressida including the pop-out section.
That is indeed a very lovely Chaser! I never knew these also came with the 1G-FE, so I'm learning something new every day. You are pretty consistent with the iphone/ipod joke: even with the tape button you mentioned "ipod". :D And it is nice to see my Trueno parked in the lot. ;)
Beautiful car, love the 2 tone as well. Manual trans. always neat. Always thought the rear wiper/washer on JDM Sedans/Saloons and Coupes was an interesting touch- very cool.
Enjoy all your videos. Went back and started from the beginning. Keep it up! I love seeing Japanese cars, especially the Honda type r's And the auction walk around.
These are really lovely timeless classics but finding one in good condition must be really hard in Japan Last time I remember seeing one in Bangladesh had E100 Corolla headlights in the front (common headlight swap choice for people with no money but rare cars in my country) because it was in an accident and the AC controls that pop out with a button was fixed so that it doesn't get closed again And worse enough, the original 1G was swapped out for a 7K an engine most commonly found on KR42 Townaces *facepalm*
These old toyotas are just awesome. Love all the little bits and buttons in this one, and I cant believe this car is as old as I am! And that two-tone paint looks great. I just have to get one of these or a z20 soarer from Japan.. Needs to be pearl white and silver, I love that combination.. Anyone know what these sell for at a auction? I know there are lots of these in Japan, but how rare are the nicer ones like this? I hope the new owner takes good care of it:)
i have a 1jzgte mark ii, bought it for 6500. they usually go for around that price from independent sellers, but manual swapped ones with 1jzgte usually cost 10k+
Soarers of this era were 1G-GTE, 7M-GE, and 1JZ-GTE. The Chaser was 1G-FE, 1G-GZE (yes Supercharged), and 1JZ-GTE later on. Let's hope I got that right. The real info is on the internet but I rocking it old school with brain power.
What's the typical cost for getting a vehicle like this from the Canadian port to its destination for a USA customer? After all fees and Japan-NA shipping has been covered.
you and me have the same tast in cars Derrick, i'd never sell this beauty if it was mine but i'd replace the steering wheel though. other then that its 100% nice
yeah, i know most turbo ones over here in the states are going for 11 to 13k depending on mileage and condition. i have the 1jzge auto with 65,000 miles. it was pretty cheap, only 5k. it has a bunch of cool options for being just a grande.
Is it possible to get one of these cae in that beautiful condition same wheels manual transmission same 1g or 1jz engine please to let me know an with the price
They are direct competitors in the market. It is almost like Nissan and Toyota were spying on each other when designing them. The Laurel has no B-pillar though so it is both completely unsafe, and terrible awesome because of it.
I would love either one of those, this generation or the next. I wouldnt want one this clean though, I would want muck about with it, 2jz swap and such. That car is just too clean to do that.
You should keep it for yourself for a little while. Nothing wrong with driving it for a few months then selling it afterwards. You work hard might as well.
it's the same car that my Cressida GX81, only diferences are in the front grille between lights, rear door windows and thee rear windows, two ventilation sides of the glass... Inside, the booton for the retractil mirrors, the radio and the controllers of AC. And the cup holders, that i don't have it :(
Hy Mr Pacific auto. Your videos of these old Toyotas. Its so teasing. I feel like coming. I love love love love love these old Toyotas. Definitely would had imported one from you. But our fukin ass hole government doesn't allow to import more than 5 years old model. And the import duty are insanely highly like more than 300% of cars value. Its to support local assembly lines I guess. Who are also fuckers of next level they give us a new car which is like 10 years old shape internationaly some times. Its sad. We can't have those old jdm's
I just fell in love! These old toyotas are indeed very special cars.
How is this from 1990? This thing is incredible, Japanese cars have always been beautiful.
channels like these are still some of the best gems on youtube for us car dorks.
have to get myself an old chaser like this one day.
It's blood proof mat in the trunk. Yakuza's car.

wow, great to see a car that is well cared for and something a bit different too!
Reminds me very much of a late 80s or early 90s Cressida which was a great car. All that internal dashboard switch gear and stuff (audio, aircon etc) is straight from the Cressida including the pop-out section.
Yes, that is the same series vehicle as the MarkII, Cresta, and Chaser.
That is indeed a very lovely Chaser! I never knew these also came with the 1G-FE, so I'm learning something new every day.
You are pretty consistent with the iphone/ipod joke: even with the tape button you mentioned "ipod". :D

it came with 4s-fe, 1g-fe, 1g-ge, 1g-gze, 1g-gte, 7m-ge, 2l, 2l-t, 1jz-ge, 1jz-gte
Beautiful car, love the 2 tone as well. Manual trans. always neat. Always thought the rear wiper/washer on JDM Sedans/Saloons and Coupes was an interesting touch- very cool.
I would have expected this to go for more than it did, seems like a very cool car in greet shape.
I would be interested in purchasing a car like this with this quality. Great work with the TH-cam channel!
Mai gawd it's beautiful! Such class. The new owner is a lucky guy/gal
Enjoy all your videos. Went back and started from the beginning. Keep it up! I love seeing Japanese cars, especially the Honda type r's And the auction walk around.
Don't look at the old videos... lol. They are pretty terrible.
lol, seems like the Nissan Skylines are like Hondas in the states. You see them every where.
They'll probably drift this. I hope they sell the good condition stuff instead of trashing it
Knowing the buyer, I would say it is in very good hands.
PacificCoastAuto That's wonderful. It's a shame they don't do this kinds of cars anymore.
PacificCoastAuto Mike is the best! I see this car in Miami all the time
Found the channel recently. Been watching the old video's back for hours now. Realy great video's! Keep up the good work.
Unfortunately they had to delete a lot of great videos

Oh man... Wish I had one of those. Lovely!
oh my god i'm in love.
These things are a beauty
lovely never really seen much of this model though
Just as beautiful as the jzx100 chasers.
What a beautiful car that's on the Cressida chassis
I swear that sooner or later, someone young will actually fall for the "iPod dock" meme that you have going on :D
I love this chasers specially this gen
The reason why the have winter tires is because they are used for drifting if that's what the people did with it before the acuction
5:20 Looks more like the 1990-1991 Lexus ES 250 aka Toyota Vista which of course is based on the v20 Camry of the same vintage.
Absolutley georgius car , thank you for sharing.

If this had the same engine as my Soarer did then this would be something else, lovely vehicle👍🏻
Soarers of this era were 1G-GTE, 7M-GE, and 1JZ-GTE.

PacificCoastAuto mine was a 1992, same colour as this with a 2.5, straight 6 twin turbo, 282bhp i believe, lovely machine and so is this car.
What's the typical cost for getting a vehicle like this from the Canadian port to its destination for a USA customer? After all fees and Japan-NA shipping has been covered.
beautiful car, nice wheels too
you and me have the same tast in cars Derrick,
i'd never sell this beauty if it was mine but i'd replace the steering wheel though.
other then that its 100% nice
+1 for the steering wheel replacement. It is even weirder in your hands than in the video.
i bet it is, but the rest is perfect though
HP - horse power, PS - pony strength?

Wow! Really cool car, would be perfect to put a 1jz in
They came with the 1JZ-GTE in this generation but not until later.
YES! ive been waiting for an x80! i have a jzx81 myself
I would love to try driving one of these with the 1JZ in it. Prices are crazy for those ones though.

Can you ship do local ship to Okinawa, Japan?
How similar are the chaser and the laurel?
They are direct competitors in the market. It is almost like Nissan and Toyota were spying on each other when designing them. The Laurel has no B-pillar though so it is both completely unsafe, and terrible awesome because of it.
I would love either one of those, this generation or the next. I wouldnt want one this clean though, I would want muck about with it, 2jz swap and such. That car is just too clean to do that.
GX81 chaser is nice car!!
Perfect Meat/Stance Ratio👌🏻😘
How much would something like this cost?
ipods existed in 1990?
$4000 USD for that here in NZ so i hope the its not too pricey
If you saw this in the corner of your eye on a US road, youd think its a 1990 Lexus ES250.

You should keep it for yourself for a little while. Nothing wrong with driving it for a few months then selling it afterwards. You work hard might as well.

BeastPieDie 6000 dude, no it's not! it's actually affordable.
More affordable than most people think
+Murat Chakhalov still, it would costs 3k for shipping O.o
Yeah car itself is bargain, but car taxes and customs are so high here.
