as a floridian, i can confirm his experience in the video of stealing a luxury car in miami, crashing it, ending up homeless and alone on a random beach, having a one-night stand in a hotel room with a random hot long-haired guy, leaving at dawn, stealing a horse, running from cops on said horse, and ending up climbing on top of a semi to "surf" through traffic somewhere in probably daytona is in fact an accurate description of a weekend in florida
that is quintessential "florida man"
Weekend? Hell, more like a 12 hour span…
😂😂😂

Awesome
in 1993 when i graduated high school i left the bayous of south Louisiana to go to the big city of New Orleans. I met the love of my life at 19 as I was working a club door on Bourbon St. He was your typical 90s guy , he was dying of AIDS. I packed up and moved to NYC to care for him till he died. Im now 50 and im one of those bitches that fought for OUR rights. I take pride in it and this song reminds me of of he and our struggle in the big apple. We were just kids trying to get by the best we knew how. He has been gone for 30 yrs almost and i wish he was still here to know how i never stopped loving him after he left. Im still a young spirited dude from the bayous of new orleans. I eat a LOT of mushrooms and jam out to Orville Peck. And Jesse Vincent if your out there and you can here me I will always love you to the moon and back. And you too Orville Peck!
I think your Jesse was a lucky man to have someone love him so much that you're still talking and thinking about him 30 years later. You're awesome. :)
thank you!
The only TH-cam comment that ever made me tear up. Beautiful story, man. Much love to you. ♥️
Your story made me cry. Mine was from Morgan city, and it's been eight years that he's been gone. I feel your pain.
A sad yet beautiful story. Jesse is lucky to have you. I hope you found your happiness without him. Luckily, we have Orville. 🌹
I love the ever building lore in these music videos, Orville is some sort of ethereal cowboy being who has come to bless us with jams, or cause some mischief......he also can talk to horses. Love it. You're the best ever.
u
@@niconico9922 u.........
He throws the shirt out every time he takes it off, but he always has it in his hand again in the next shot
@@k80_ He's a magic man!! I cannot be convinced otherwise!
He an flash in the . Hesucks and his music does to. Dressing like that. Not real country music anyway.
It’s the way he performs obnoxious unhinged unlikeable cowboy to absolutely peak camp perfection
yes it's that for meeeee
thats cute
Honestly, this video gave me superhero vibes. Like he's a masked vigilante riding in to the the JLA or Avengers or something.
He represents the primal unhinged cosmic gay space cowboy inside us all.
Yessssssss
Essentially the anthem for "be gay, do crime", love it! 💞
HECK YEAH
Finding this comment 7 months later and it has me howling LMAO thank you for this
wurd up from the lower ninth ward. lol.. I swear i hatched my chickens I didn't steal them.. Fareal.
Thank you Willie Nelson for working with one of the best gay country artist in America.
Viewings of the Daytona Sand music video will continue until morale improves.
And Riley Keough...showimg up!
Best part of the video is the zoom in on the mask when he sees the horse and the squint of determination!!!
Steeley...
Orville is the spirit of America. Not the corporate marketing version, but it's cowboy soul.
IMO this guy has single handily saved country. He brings old country symbolism tropes and makes them refreshed, not just with his lyrics and singing style, but his dancing. How many times in this song did he Just repeat “truck, whiskey, church, small town etc” like all modern country singers who are just artistically sterile?
His style feels old yet new. New country just sounds the same and uses the exact same metaphors. Over and over and over again.
I don't listen to country AT ALL but his voice and arrangements have captivated me absolutely! Also in a weird way reminds me of Lana Del Rey.
People who do listen to country would probably hate this. It doesn't represent their limited worldview of white makes right.
Very much so.
It’s not necessarily country, more country inspired. Very much lana deal reyish lol. I love country and i love lana del rey so this sound suits me fine ig
I said the same thing to a friend the other day. I think it’s the minimal musical accompaniment in their styles.
@@slconcerts3497 to me it sounds like a blend between lana and the killers. it's amazing
He has moments of old school country vibes, moments of Elvis vibes, and moments of undefined. Very versatile.
I can't get over how the drums mimic the hoof beats of a galloping horse. A few different songs have it in bronco and I appreciate the attention to detail. Should have won a Grammy for sure!
Phantom of the opera, meets Johnny cash meets Elvis. ❤️
Thought the same thing Johnny Cash Meets Elvis!!!
And the phantom, don't forget the phantom!
I ran a half marathon yesterday while listening to this song constantly on repeat. By far the most motivating song I've ever heard.
I can imagine this song is very good for running or similar activity:)
As someone who grew up listening mostly rock and punk & goth music and hating country music. The older I get I love alternative country western music. I love that his music is more akin to older classic country western. Keep doing what your doing Mr.Peck, You got me hooked on your music. ☺️
Same. If you haven’t heard Sierra Ferrell yet, you should. But the live stuff, the album doesn’t do her justice.
@@johnbitondo5730 Dear John, thank you for the tip. I will definitely have to check them out. Cheers.
@@johnbitondo5730 I checked her out, I see what you mean. Love her guitar playing a lot. Love her singing style as well. Thank you.
Same! I’d never in a million years have thought I’d like a county artist. 😂🖤
You people....its the rockabilly retirement program we've all dreaded. We're here
Imagine a gay South African based in canandian person is one of the few making good real country. While everyone else is just using the same (often fake) twang and same boring tropes all singing about trucks, whiskey, church.
Orville is old yet new at the same time: it shows in his old yet new lyrics as well as dancing
I love how this song combines the elements of punk rock, the “surfer” sound that came out of the 50’s and classic country. Each note inhabits the muscles in my body until I find myself dancing in the bathroom before work at 630am. this is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard.
EXACTLY!
The segment of seeing the horse, looking at the camera, and cutting to running from police on said horse never fails to absolutely crack me up, such chaotic energy, I'm here for it :D
Before hearing Orville I was convinced country music was dead: every song was the same recycled icons/ “whiskey” “truck”, “tailgating” “church”
With everyone using the same country accent.
Orville changes that up
Even though I love this kind of country music, I never really took the time to listen to Orville Peck until yesterday, and he was EXACTLY what I've been looking for.
That’s when I discovered him too! Two days ago… now I’m obsessed
Listen to his first album PONY, especially the first three songs on it. Pure genius.
Same here! I started listening a week ago, and it hit me like a wave
@@NJcruiser Make it the first four. Buffalo Run is phenomenal and possibly my favorite
Who the hell is his director and cinematographer? Damnit boy!
Already my favourite Orville Peck song , can't wait for the full album
Mine to Mr Body 😆. Fear Rule
It's crap
Most of what I heard is solid. Hexie Mountains and C'mon Baby, Cry are both ballin'
Same! This and Hexie Mountains though all the songs are really good. The videos are really good too. Restoring my faith in the new generation of artists.
@@henrygore6050 you keep commenting that. Me thinks the lady doth protest too much.😏
the outro cracks me up in every way
Orville is a true visionary. This song is something special. Thank you for gracing us with this.
Something about that line "It's not that I don't care, it's just hard to make a plan,"...
I relate to that.
Most days, I'm just a regular woman. This song makes me feel like a man, and that's so cool too. Yippee
Very strangely, me too.
As someone from Mississippi, this song really felt personal. This man is literally changing the game for country music while returning to its roots of storytelling.
@@ryanoneal8480 you here to rain on every parade, Ryan?
@@elonmusk921 well if someone says something idiotic it's not going to be surprising when someone calls them out for it. Ask ol Elon "Hyperloop" himself about that one lol
@@ryanoneal8480 If Peck can make someone from Mississippi feel like the song is personal to them without actually bring from there himself, honestly that just means his songwriting is even more impressive.
@@tungstendeliz4960 it literally doesn't. The song literally doesn't change a bit if you put any other state or hell country there. It's just this guy reading into something that isn't there.
@@ryanoneal8480 nah you’re just being dramatic bro
No voice, no song, no artistry, no video has ever crashed into my soul the way this has…
absolutely off the rails and falling apart at the seams, my favorite cowboy cryptid
YOU CAN’T TRUST A MANNNNN !!!
..but I trust Orville 😌🐎💘
He ain't a man he a cowboy 🤠
I don't but I'm not walking away, no sir.
his music is actually cryptic. it’s not the regular fishing, hunting and love country songs. It’s much more than that
FINALLY! my skills at saying M-I-S-S-I-S-S-I-P-P-I really fast has paid off lol
Orville delivers, as always. Another fantastic addition to the Orville Peck cinematic universe.
He's like if Elvis and the Lone Ranger had a baby, and I love it.
Take me home to Mississippi. Its not that I dont care, its just hard to make a plan.
LYRICS 🐎⛱️
Buddy, we got major blues
Another suitcase in your hand
I hope you brought your walking shoes
'Cause it's quite a ways, from what I understand
So rack 'em up, big blonde
I think I could've been your man
We watch the surfers as they whip on the strand
Ah, Daytona sand
Long hair, slow eyes, I like your style
We both ain't got a job
I haven't seen my band in a while
At least nothing seems to last that long
So hit the road, big blonde
Take me home to Mississippi
It's not that I don't care, it's just hard to make a plan
But ah, Daytona sand
I'm not mad, for what it's worth
You always take the dare, that's what I learned
I'm getting tired of this earth
But they say some stones are better left unturned
So what you say, big blonde?
Is that another whispered plan?
I've been around long enough to know you can't trust a man
But ah, Daytona sand

Disagree
2:44 "I've been around long enough to know you can't trust a man." Ugh this line gets me everytime the way he says trust and the hurt behind it ... i love this man so much 😩😩😩😩
For a man to reinvent himself to what is his true love of music and do it with utter perfection? There has to be a separate category for this masterpiece.
Yep…. It’s called don’t put a label on it or expectations of any kind!…. It’s music & it’s own sound, and It suits this artist perfect! 🙌
THIS is country music.
I feel like there is so much going on with this video in terms of visual metaphors for not feeling included or accepted, for outright rejection, for loneliness, and for not giving a damn somehow because you have to be yourself.
I never liked country till I found this man 💯
The only bad thing is that this isn’t 10 minutes long
We don't deserve Orville Peck but thank fuck he's here ❤❤❤
I love the old sound with a new twist. Just being true to yourself. And doesn't care what anybody thinks. A true visionary
Hello there Bridgette it's nice meeting you here
Very glad CNN led me to Mr. Peck today. If I were younger...he's such a dreamboat...& that vocal range!...sigh...oh well... It's so good to hear a man sing about stories from a gay perspective with artistry
This dude has that old school original country voice. No one else sounds like this! I would love to party with this guy.
With the heartache and pain going on in the world right now leave it to Orville Peck to put out some escapism music. It's right on time.
I already loved the song, and seeing it set to, "Orville Peck Has a Florida Adventure?" Perfection!
I believe the song is written about Diplo

THE ORVILLE CINEMATIC UNIVERSE IS GROWING AAAAA YESSSS ♡♡♡♡♡♡!!!!!!!!
Orville Peck just sang country back up from the dead cold grave,
just to remind it of what it once was.
Reminds me of growing up in a small town on a horse ranch. Ready to straddle this stallion of an album.
Video was filmed in the small town of Miami, FL though 😂
@@digunderrock539 A'course it was. The song IS called "Daytona Sand".
"Let's get out of here buddy" from the horse... this video is a masterpiece!
Wish I had the wherewithal, and everything else, to dress like this. Dude is becoming a fashion icon, at least in my own mind.
it’s a crime that this song isn’t longer
Your right
The last time I had a voice impact me like Orville's, it was Johnny Cash. There's just something about its depth and timbre that's ineffable. This is easily the best song of the year, and all of Bronco is terrific.
Orville is the love child of the most awesome throuple ever: Johnny Cash, Chris Isaak, and kd lang. Orville is magnificent.
@@bukowskibabe I think it has a real Elvis vibe.
Go, Orville, go. Don't let them catch you!!!!!
i dont likes country but i loves me some Orville....
This music video was so fun with the story (loved the random horse and its subtitles) and so visually appealing with the duplicate effects near the end. Awesome job everyone!
This guy is simple one of the best and greatest talents of this century, he doesn't have one bad song!!! 👌What a voice, what a style!!! And this is his best song so far, can notttttt get enough of it - been listing almost daily since it came out!!
Only pity is that 'Bronco' isn't released on CD, damnit!!!
The visuals of Orville Peck videos are absolutely unmatched.
LOVE that he is wrangling a truck! ❤❤❤❤
So cool! As if Elvis and Roy Orbison had a child!
I firmly believe that Orville can actually understand horses via subtitle
That ending shot with him on the truck between the stoplights is just *chefs kiss*
running away from pursuit vehicles on horseback is the most badass shit on earth
Whelp, that was feckin glorious
So proud of my friend Brandi for being part of this project. This song is awesome 🔥🔥🔥.
For this music video ?? If so ..amazing video ..the best music videos happening now ..the uniqueness, creativity, the colors..the unexpected ...the 'everything about Peck's videos drives me crazy' 🤠🤩

Yep
This is the most amazing man I've ever seen.
Honestly some of the best country music I've ever heard...
2:29 “lets get out of here buddy” LMFAO
I don’t care what anyone else says this is his best song
Orville Peck said “be gay do crime”
My thoughts are this is written for Diplo. Diplo was born in Mississippi. Long blonde hair and a surfer in off time.
This song really gave me an Elvis Presley vibe, like from "Viva Las Vegas". Really liked it, and the video was amazing.
Orville is so nice for teaching everyone to spell Mississippi.
Something's always drawn me to check out what Orville's been releasing, yet I used to never have his music on repeat until now. Bronco is an absolutely amazing body of work! I listen to it everyday
He does Morrissey even better than Morrissey. Can I just say that I can totally get behind the gay country genre
“I’m a man for what it’s worth”
this music video gave me everything i didn't even know i needed
Severely underrated artist, in my opinion. SO many good songs!
His voice never ceases to amaze me.
Country boys don't get that I would listen to Country 24/7 if it sounded like this.
I live for the up-and-down look Orville gives his new long haired friend as he's walking up 🔥
He spells out Mississippi like we learned it in grade school. If that ain’t country I don’t know what is.
Orville Peck makes going on a bender look like the coolest thing ever
WOO HOOOO !!!! The fringe blowing in the wind makes you look like Yosemite Sam!
Obsessed. That look he gives when he sees the horse? Perfection.
Good lord this is the most beautiful music video I've ever seen. The Platonic Ideal of a music video. Great combination of disorienting, surreal, hyper-real, sexy, funny, and to top it off there's a horse.
I love his showmanship. His voice is so emotional in the story I love every second.
I'm a fan cause just the pure power just f off I'm doing me and it's honestly inspirational. I'm a gay country boy and this is just........I'm happy today
Bless your heart Roy! Love who you are!
Gay cowboy entertainment is my actual favourite. Bless this guy for existing!
God, I would love to see him live 💕
Orville has easily become one of my favorite artists. Extremely talented and unique. 🤠🤠🤠 The way he has manage to out do himself every time 👏 👏 👏
This video was filmed in Miami most of which was in the North Miami Beach area. You can see the Broadmore hotel in the background. And in some scenes you can see them driving the semi by the wynwood area. I’m happy they chose this area honestly it’s perfect!
Wish he would come to south Florida for his tour :(
Not to mention the world famous Deuce Bar on South Beach
❤🧡💛👊💚💙💜
The Duece!!!!!
As if Elvis and Freddy had a baby.
Omg thats the best description!
