Would be best to try and call a locksmith to open the door for you first and then pull off the panel. Otherwise it will be hard to pull off the panel without damaging it.
If you think the inside door latch handle has come off or is broken preventing your door from opening. You can still take off the latch cover "like in the video" and have some access to the door and locking lever mechanism.
