- The life of the Islamic prophet Muhammad (sws)(570-632 AD) was marked by revelations from Allah, the conquest of Mecca, and the spread of Islam.
Early life
Born in Mecca into the Quraysh tribe
Orphaned before age six and raised by his uncle Abu Talib
Worked as a shepherd and merchant
Nicknamed "The Truthful One"
Marriage
Married Khadija, his first wife, around 595
Khadija was impressed by Muhammad's skills managing her caravans
Muhammad ( sws )and Khadija had children, including Al Qasim, Zaynab, Ruqayyah, Umm Kulthum, and Fatimah
Revelations
At age 40, Muhammad( sws)began receiving revelations from Allah
These revelations became the basis for the Qur'an
Conquest of Mecca
In 629, Muhammad (sws)led an army of Muslim converts to Mecca
The conquest was largely uncontested, and Muhammad(sws) seized the city
Muhammad (sws)destroyed the statues of pagan gods in the Ka'aba
Death
In 632, Muhammad (sws)fell ill and died in Madinah a few months after returning from the Farewell Pilgrimage
