Video: Officer jumps out window to escape gunman in Butts County

- A police officer in Jackson is still recovering after jumping out of a window to escape a gunman.
Officer Diana Sanchez and her partner were called to a house in Butts County regarding a man screaming, but what they found was much different. Body camera footage from both officers shows Sanchez outside when her partner arrives at the house.
She tells her partner that she definitely heard a man screaming but didn't see anybody. The door to the home is open, and the two officers are seen knocking on the door of a home, announcing that they are with the Jackson Police Department.

IKR? They're lucky that guy in the house was too high or drunk, because from what I see, if he'd had his wits about him he could have easily killed both of them.
It is funny when the 10/20 officers arrest a drunk no armed person , but on those type of events always the back up comes always to late , or don't come at all . I imagine that the back up team was arguing at that time with some street entertainer again , in stead of being where they must be .
Actually the female did well. And the guy did ok but a little speed would have helped. They saved everyone from getting into an unnecessary gun fight.

I've been saying that for years and folks think I'm crazy. Every 3 or 6 months they should have to go through exercise training. Some officers are so fat & sloppy I know they're gonna shoot and not chase the suspect. Now not all because some officers stay in shape.

It might be the bullet proof vest that they have to put on & the weapons that they have to wear around their waist makes them feel heavy. I'm guessing that's why the officer was out of breath, but I could be wrong though, I do understand that officer's have to stay in shape for this type of job

Not only that but he didn't even keep in radio with her or try to direct the suspects attention to him while she was self trapped in the bathroom trying to get out. I didn't even see her go upstairs yet when shots started yet she managed to get apparently upstairs & locked herself in a bathroom then jump out a window. I can't get over Female officer was at front door preparing to move upstairs & male officer was in view at the back of house & both ran away from each other when the shots started incredible...

This was beyond embarrassing, it's a disgrace. I have no idea how did she graduate from the academy! The guy might have done some minor mistakes but at least he was still in the immediate vicinity of the house and did not run all the way back to the department like a coward. This is common amongst female law enforcement officers, professionalism and rational thinking under stress isn't exactly their strong suit.

Remember, they were not there by accident, a neighbor called reporting they heard screaming from the home, not sure if it was inside or outside. Police do their job and arrive to check out the situation. They also initially heard the screaming person, along with the front door wide open and no one responding. One might say they have a duty to check the residence for anyone who may be injured or hiding.
All this homeowner needed to do was respond to the officer, when she was calling out and warning anyone inside that they were going to enter the property.

#1- neither one of them officers have any business being in the field. 1. Both cops are dangerously out of shape, it almost cost them their lives and could in the future.
2. Both cops completely abandoned each other. The male cop ran out the front, leaving the female officer to fend for herself inside. At no point did he try to re-locate her. The female officer at least had the sense to get creative on evacuating the house, but also just ran off without knowing her partner's status or location.
Fitness and training are key and they showed a poor demonstration of both.

His backup after masterfully escaping from the bathroom safe zone, then proceeds to take herself out of the apprehension role by running 🏃♂️ to the trees.

I have been shooting firearms since I was five years old, I am 65 now I will protect and defend my home against Anyone entering my house without my permission. There has been hundreds of cases or home invaders start yelling Police Department when they kick the door in to keep people from defending themselves and then it is too late

This was only one guy but it was psychologically terrifying for these two who just went through the house and saw no one and suddenly a disembodied voice starts screaming and shooting. No. He was near the front door when he took fire and quickly got out while she tried to get out the back door. She radioed him that she got into the bathroom and he still stayed at the scene trying to go back in through the entry point where the homeowner was firing off shots. She escaped from the bathroom window and worked her back out to the street. So, he didn't bail on her and he tried to get the homeowner to drop his weapon. Not a good look for the officers (especially the female), but he didn't bail on her and stayed on the scene trying to get the homeowner to comply.

I’m at a loss for words , without knowing why the cops went into the house I’m assuming they got a call for help or the neighbors called. Going into that house was sure dangerous but not working as a team and not have a plan when shots are fired is crazy and even more dangerous they were acting like burglars that in encounters the homeowner . Some fitness would probably have helped along with tactics. One thing for sure being a cop is a very tough job they get called to every bad thing that happens in society my hats off to them but the days of Barney Fife are over.

Door was open screams from inside, so no warrant needed. Once inside as a police officer/sheriff you better be prepared to handle business hence the reason you went to the residence to begin with. Tactically retreating is one thing, but all out cowardice act of not doing what you’ve been sworn, trained and paid to do is another. We can Monday morning quarterback this to death, but no one truly knows what was going through that officers mind at that moment. When the crap hits the fan, it’s fight or flight, she took the latter. Not knowing where the shooter was actually at, would have me second guessing myself too. When bullets are flying, it’s a whole different ball game than shooting at a paper target that doesn’t shoot back at the academy. Just my 2 cents, but what do I know?
