@@pjsanab I never tried the shift. From what I heard they are comparable. I've heard that the Shifts also make a lot of noise, and squeak and clack.... I like the SL's because the are bolted together, and I don't have to worry about the sliders/soul plate falling out. The Shifts should stay together fine though, if you aren't jumping off buildings or down 20 set stairs.
Great advice dude! Thanks for sharing. I’ve noticed that my buddy keeps getting wheel bite in his stock Lomax’ and Crofts’, but I don’t in my Basic IIs. Gotta be the difference in the wheel profile as you mentioned.
I bought a second hand aeon 72 and the previous owner broke the receptor but replaced it with a new one. As soon as i put it on, i had a terrible pressure point on the inside right ankle where the receptor was. Took my Dremel tool and shaved a bit of the corner where it's jutting out. After watching this, i only found out that the receptors are numbered. Lo and behold, it was the wrong piece. It's fine now, but in future, I'll make sure to replace with the correct one when the time comes. Thanks a lot!
Can you help with our toes. I’m dealing with numbness. Good point also re the wheels. I have 2020 version with the 72’s stock. But it’s tough to do shalom tricks
Great video and great skating, Thanks! Too many problems with the Aeons. Most of them have been reported for years. I wonder if USD test their products and care for user feedbacks? It doesn't seem like. This is so poor from USD
Unfortunately I was in the wrong bagel hype group when I passed through. Didn’t realize there were two. Will definitely reach out next time I’m through.
Been trying to put a pair of Aeons together for a while now, but it seems like no one is selling the older style cuff bolt receptors anymore :^( Any idea what to do about that? Thanks
I found the 11-12 boot plenty big. I exchanged from the 10-10.5 but Turns out the problem was the bad liner design. The opening to the toe area is super small and the toe area is very narrow. I am attempting g to stretch them out. I don’t want to already buy aftermarket liners for my first set of skates.
Top to bottom or side to side? I definitely found them to be tight top to bottom. Not sure why they haven’t addressed it. Seems to be an issue for a lot of people.
Stretched mine with tennis balls whenever I had this issue. Poked a couple air holes & placed two side by side, was too tight top to bottom & width of toe box. Did the same to relieve a little pressure on the shell as well
First of all this is a great video. As usually! Fun part is, I like everything about the aeons.but the soulplate is killing me. Waxing ledges always leads to flying decks and angry skateboarders. Is there a recommendation, I can look for? The sway? I would be happy to be advices here, as I would like to stay on a flat setup. Merci and again, thumbs up!
Thank you! The sway slides well. Better than the aeon for sure. I’ve seen people mod Razors SL sliders to fit the aeons. Otherwise, I believe the company Sliqx (spelling?) is offering a bolt on slider for the aeon.
@@christianhager1972 no problem at all. The sways are a couple mm longer and have a larger toe box for sure. They’re close, but the sway is slightly larger.
As a lifelong skateboard, the only reason a skateboarder would be mad at a ledge waxing is their lack of control and bad form. The excess friction is what they rely on so they can lack commitment and lean back in anticipation for a bail.
Any tips to get the Aeon to have as much lateral ankle support as the Sway 57? I love my new Aeons but I can’t seem to tighten the boot enough and it feels like I’m going to roll my ankle even with the 45 strap... do intuition liners help?
@@coreyenglish8706 the aeon 60 basic xxi -doesn’t have the 45 strap but has the eyelits so u can lace thru them, which is similar. It looks comparable to the sway57 cuff but for some reason the Sway seems much stiffer for side to side ankle movements...
Gotcha. That’s the old cuff I think, and most people found that to be stiff. A thinner liner may help you a bit, but it’s hard to say how much. Intuition or even a my fit second skin would likely be the best bet. Good luck with it.
Oh snap I didn't see that you responded! Pretty much only park and mostly rail when I'm there but I hit the odd soul trick on the angle iron ledges. Wouldn't rule out street totally but it's fairly unlikely as I just got into this so I've been keeping learning to a more controlled environment. Don't really cess slide because it's been so hard to find skates in my size as available if that helps
Bought the aeon 60 team xxi but I'm still interested in knowing if I should be picking up a back up pair just so I don't have the sold out size 11-12 blues
@@trenchcoatkendo if you basically just skate park you don't have to worry about longevity in my opinion. For your average skater parts and skates nowadays last a long time, and before the souls wear out you'll probably be looking for a new skate. I've had frames I've used for years now for park skating and they're all good. If you wanted to increase the life of your aeons you could add sliqz sliders or kizer soul wings. Also if you did somehow wear through the frame and still want to use the boots you could mod them for UFS - becci solleto did a good video on it. Good luck.
@@chilli-iceolive-abode2447 thank you for the input, they're still going strong as my transition skate and I have a set of Tim Franken pros coming in for a nice UFS boot
Allen heads on the axles are fine, just don't over tighten them when putting them in and be careful with your tool, that the key is fully in the slot before you start to crank. Never had a problem with them. Never stripped a thread in my life either when working on cars, bikes or anything with a screw or bolt and guys do it all the time. Some people just shouldn't touch tools unless they know what they are doing. The whole reason the allen bolt heads strip is the monkeys at the factory put thread lock on the threads. Just tried mine after listening to your video. These are my new green lomax skates and I can see how guys would strip the heads. Never use thread lock. Just a bit of heavy grease and the threads won't come loose and never strip a head again. Anyone who works on cars and is good at it hates thread lock...causes so much more work to get a job done and this good mechanic will use lube on the threads. Just get a canister of automotive grease. Believe it or not when you got to remove a bolt that has been greased...it will snap open or crack when you unbolt.
Fair point. If you are careful and your Allen key is sharp, it won’t be an issue. Not all of us are so careful though, that’s why I included it. I’ve also seen these axels bend. I’m just not a fan of them. Definitely not an immediate or mandatory upgrade.

hey there.. i actually think they fixed most of these issues on the newer model - wt no strap. i actualy bought 2 pairs this summer, bc size was i dont even want to loose words.. but apparently if you go a size up - whic is actually almost 2 sizes, it does relieve most of the pressure points on my rekkd ankle. The cuff seemed bigger and the spacers were actualy grinded or chaffed a bit, unlike with the team reds. i do however recomend anyone that has the chance to try them on to just try them on. otherwise you might end up spending twice as much XD ooh i switched the liner also so i cannot comment on the new one. but it seems almost the same as before so i will not use it. hope this help anyone cheerz
