Once my class received our quiz papers, majority failed but our physics teacher played this part of the song 0:42 and said "your grades dont define you as a person". Few weeks later the grade level had a teacher survey where we had to rate the teachers and type in what they need to improve. For some reason, majority of our level didn't like him and gave him a 1 or 0 but my class gave him around 4-6. Days later we saw him come to school looking really sad. I felt so bad cuz he's actually trying his best and being a teacher and handling with different students is definitely a challenge, my moms a teacher so i know the feeling. My physics teacher is always so fun and lively, he had the biggest smile on his face and me and my friends definitely felt crushed when we saw him sad like that. Everytime i hear this song, i think of that moment where he tried to motivate us. He deserves better :((( Welp i just ranted...^^
Adams music is so timeless, no matter when or how long he takes on making another song, not only is his voice beautiful but the music is so enjoyable to listen. Praise this man. Love his work
It’s funny cause Adam said that this album is his favorite so far and I can see why Adam would think that in his pov! I feel like he’s able to create what he actually wants to hear and love. And that’s a beautiful thing, love the song, love the album! owl city 2023 ❤️
2:58 just coming in here to say that big shiny bell/glockenspiel sound that walks downward in the background of "learn to swim with the sharks" is like an iconic signature owl city sound and like REALLY makes this song for me. It's so pretty and has been a teeny tiny part in so many owl city songs over the last decade+ or however long it's been and it's turned into a really nostalgic owl city sound cuz it's one of my favorite bits from like early albums and it's really cool to hear it's still a part of the new music.
Whenever I need boost of positivity and optimism I listen to Owl city. Love you man. Been your fan since myspace times and haven’t stopped listening since than!🖤
This is by far one of my favorite songs on the album! I can't help but bop and dance to this song. Can't wait to blare it on the beach 😎and educate all the innocent bystanders on Owl City!
Right?! Like I could totally see this, although with a slightly less polished sound, coming right off of Maybe I’m Dreaming or Ocean Eyes and it sounding perfectly at home
I kinda think it’s better to leave the visualizations to the imagination for that one. The imagery conveyed lyrically is just so powerful for that song.
You made us dance weird with this song Adam, I miss the way you make song like this genre, but I also love most of your orchestral songs. It's been my thing now since I really love orchestra music. For those saying Adam changed, listen to his old albums that has orchestral styles and you won't believe it. ❤
This video came out right at the start of my last day of my current job; about to shift to a new job next week. The meaning of the song couldn't be more perfect. ❤️
This comment section is great, no trauma dumping no sharing negative information just pure joy and happiness as it should be. Thanks for not being selfish guys 😁
This album makes me hopeful to ride the monsoons of life with the boldness of tigers On The Wing through the darkest night of the most violent twister into the break of dawn. Those times are coming in the twinkling of an eye when we will fly, take heart for we will run and not grow faint. I can't express in words the brotherly bond I feel to Adam. As a native of Owl City, I don't believe I am the only one among the population of dreamers and Hoot Owls who feels this way. And now we have access back to our City from being controlled by the mainstream producers who control Carly Rae Jepsen, it wasn't always a good time. But now Adam has full reign back at Sky Harbour Studios, Praise the LORD. Much love
I have depression but somehow hearing the lines "And when you wipe out it's gonna hurt" as well as "And by the way it's okay, it could always be worse" while shopping for groceries somehow struck a chord with me. So here I am. This is one of my favorite songs now. It's oddly reassuring.
The exact same thing happened to me only I'm not depressed anymore. For anybody wondering if you don't take showers, don't brush your teeth, and leave the house YOU ARE DEPRESSED. Fot me it was complex post-traumatic stress disorder for other people their depression may come from other things. I can't say for certain I don't know your situation but if you want to overcome depression find out what triggers you. That's a great clue that lets you know what really is upsetting you that you haven't confronted. When you finally find it when you even think the words you feel a weakness in your heart and a sadness come. Feel that sadness experience that emotion and if it's connected to a fear challenge the fear and do that thing that scares you.
@@sirtarquin6306 Thank you for the advice, my depression is a bit different though, what used to trigger it to be worse was something I'd rather not talk about, but what I deal with is mostly the lingering feeling numbness and lack of interest in anything (simply put, because details are too long), so I feel like that needs a different solution and of course I'm working on it, but I hope your advice will help anyone else who sees it because that does sound like useful advice. The main reason why the song is comforting for me is because when my depression was particularly bad, one of the triggers was overworking myself because I felt like I just wasn't enough, so the words "It's okay it could always be worse" feel reassuring in a nostalgic way because I've been steadily learning to not be so incredibly hard on myself. I'm glad you're feeling better though and I wish you all the best.
@@alexxmichaelis5669 If you have problems with negative self talk just know that it's your psyche's backwards way of showing yourself love. Hope you get better buddy.
I love this song! Absolutely a gem! Reminds me of some of the good ol songs by Owl City! Makes me feel like a kid again, yet also pumps me up to take on whatever life throws now as an adult. Beautiful harmony in every possible way! 🤌🏻❤️
Haysss this song is just so uplifting from the lyrics to the song itself this song just tells that"how worse the things in life,It'll be fine so dont worry just follow the flow"
We have OWL CITY still alive Thank you Dear Artist and Production Teams for lifting everything up , through out the time From times before Fireflies and , then and now You're the most important artist of our generation bro
Sending you love back from the UK. We are all hoping things will get better for you. You are all so brave & are thought about so much all over the world. Take good care. ☮🕊
One of my favorite songs on the album! The chorus of this one is so catchy and, honestly, pretty quotable. "You can't stop the waves, But you can learn how to surf." "If it don't float your boat, learn to swim with the sharks." "Your tan proves you lived through the burn."
Great song. Prob my favorite from the album, along with Vitamin Sea. Glad that Owl City is releasing music again. Have listened to every album, some great tunes over the years
What a coincidence! A while back, I was thinking about Christian songs that used surfing as a metaphor for living your Christian life. I know, I know this may not be a Christian song, but I see it as one because some Christian Music uses water metaphors to show how we have rely on God regardless of how high or low the waves(difficulties, tribulations, ect) but, still an awesome song, secular or not.
So many Owl City's songs can be boiled down to "bad things will happen, but then it'll get better". It's really uplifting.
Excellent observation. I concur.
Yeah! Totally. :3
Kinda fits to what happened a couple years ago

One of the best songs on the album!
When times are tough, at least I have Owl City.
yes brother, i absolutely agree with you

This is my life story
I wish Adam could experience listening to these songs for the first time like us .. they’re magical
Adam has this amazing ability where he can make you feel nostalgia of a memory that you're 100% sure never happened
I'm actually glad that Adam is back making music.

No rude words, No sex, No self killing ,No drug This is best artist for everyone and you can become to legendary, Adam
My friend phrased it perfectly one time by saying that Owl City makes music for Radio Disney, but it’s still actually some of the best music around
This Isn’t The End… 🙁
But didn't he already become legendary
@@Sleepii.. it's a positive sad song, the meaning is beautiful
Good thing she talked in Rhymes or else this song would sound weird
Edit: jokes aside, love the song!
real

I always thought the same thing about “A Million Lives” by Jake miller.
"What do your tattoos mean?" "I don't know, I was young and I thought they looked cool"
This song is such a banger!!!
Owl City’s voice is so incredible
Owl City has been my go-to “happy music” for over a decade now, and songs like this are exactly why.
I am just glad that owl city is back. I can finnaly enjoy the present like nostalgia

I really hope The Tornado gets a real music video. That would be insane!
Also The Meadow Lark would make a great music video! Listening to the song you can imagine everything that would happen!
Or dinosaur park tbh

That solo at 2:35 is the best this world has ever heard.
Straight facts brother
That solo is INSANE! Wowwwww

I heard a solo and thought it's ok, but not that great. Then this one kicked in later, and I looked at the time and thought you were right.
