    Greases and bad pipes equals backups! Great to see that you gave the customer instructions on how to manage the issue. Another great one, guys!

      The only managing of this issue unfortunately is to get someone out to properly put the pipes in place... which means digging up the street and probably the house as well.

    You use the term “trap” and say it is used to prevent back flow.
    When I use the term trap, it is a plumbing device (curved section of drain pipe) that has a certain level of water present at all times, in order to prevent sewer gases from flowing back through and into the air in the bathroom or kitchen. But a trap like that does nothing to block water from back flow.
    For back flow prevention, a plumbing device called a “check valve” is normally used. A check valve allows water flow in one direction and blocks water flow in the other direction. Exactly what the customer in this video should consider even after the pipe slope is corrected.

      Seems to me like it might be a language thing. Not everything will translate directly exactly the same

      @@KnowledgePerformance7 - maybe, but the proper terminology needs to be put forth at some point.

      "Rückstossklappe" would be the german word for it.... literally translated something along the line of "Backflowflap", a flap that closes when water runs backwards
      The anti-gas/smell thing is called a "Siphon" in german. I think it's the same word in english too. Basically a U-shaped piece of pipe that holds little bit of water back to close off the gas/smell from entering the Bathroom...

    • @stevebabiak6997
      @stevebabiak6997 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@samuelbhend2521 - the U shaped pipe is called a trap in the USA.
      Some (many) houses in the USA still use the S-trap rather than the P-trap, and the S-trap is not anti-siphon. Newer construction will use the P-trap which is considered anti-siphon.

    It's interesting to see how other countries manage their plumbing. 🤔
    Why aren't there traps on all the sinks? If the vent gets clogged sewer gas can come right up into the house / building.🤢🤒☠
