Real talk: the thing I hated most about this level more than anything wasn't actually the level itself, but the fact that at the end I tried to splashdown out of a super jump to get the goal and the game didn't let me
:( yeah you can't use abilities in the middle of a superjump, BUT dude there's an actual speedrun where you use a splashdown mid-air to skip a section and it looks insane: th-cam.com/video/7rh8k2CDeB0/w-d-xo.html (it's at the 34 sec mark)
You don't even need to repeatedly press B, as long as you have it held down when you get in a wall it starts charging. Wether you swim into a wall, or jump into a wall, and never let go of B, it'll immediately start charging the surge. After that it's just feeling the timing to let go JUST as the eyes spark... Also letting go of the button early does the surge anyways, but it's weaker and doesn't swim up as fast/jump out as high as a full charge...
Some tips on the octoling part. try to save your shield for the last phase, it helps a lot. try to play aggressively on the last phase. if you don't they rush you down with ultimate's. Shoot down the ink jets, They can break your shield in 1 direct hit and seemingly have aimbot. For the wavemaker if there aren't any enemies in range break in, getting tagged sucks. Try to rush them down, and space out if they have a roller. Getting shield broken = death. Especially if wave maker is down or there's an ink jet. If you need to run away throw a curling, not recommended because they can just shoot you. Most importantly, USE LIL BUDDY. He has more range than your hero shot and bombs ( i think) and kills them almost immediately. And if you miss you can throw him back almost immediately, Or acts as a taunt. He also has a decently large hit range. Yours truly -someone who still hasn't beaten Girl power station.
When I was playing through this, it felt like section 1 was purposefully slower. Frustrated the hell out of me when I slipped off those finnicky damn inklines or jumped just a little too short on the moving blocks. Also, the final section gave me minor PTSD remembering the Girl Power Station from Octo Expansion.
Yeah, the first section is all about the fundamentals. It's to make sure that you REALLY understand inking and movement before letting you move on. EDIT: Looking at it deeper, the second section is about accurate aiming and keeping a close eye on your ink levels. The third section gives Lil' Guy one last chance to shine while also teaching you restraint. Overshooting some of those tainted barriers will end up creating obstacles. The last section tells you to put it all together in a real battle, while also letting you go wild with Specials.
Really damn impressive. took me several hours to get through the entire level. Some time can definitely be shaved off here and there, but those strategies haven't been found yet. Can't wait to see a speedrun of this level in a year or two to see how its improved
yeah this is one of the first speedruns of this level so there's alot of timesave possible, this run is a 10:53, but I have gotten a 9:23 around a week ago, and the world record currently is 8:27 with the main timesave being the octoling part
Honestly it's thr first section that's the worst. The rail section wasn't too bad with the hero shot, the third section was really simple comparatively and the last section was a mixed bag.
I'm a pretty awful shot, so I spent a full day on the targets, but level 1, and 3 were easy. I decided to do the battle portion without any supers though, so I was cozy in the left lower corner throwing roombas and ambushing anything that got too close
@@Maxler5795 maybe, i just remember it being hard due to the sheer frustration that if you mess ANYTHING up, you have to start alo over again, and so you try and do the first easier sections faster and faster, but that also means youll mess up more, leading to more frustration. also at the time it was only the first phase and i didnt know what was coming after, i thought they were all gonna be platformers and that kinda added to the feeling 😂
@@scribblecloud i call the the 1 or 100 design. You either do it first try or lose a bijillion times put of frustration. Like judgment's tailing missions.
I honestly think the reason its so hard is due to the fact that in the 3rd wave they all have access to specials. How the hell am I supposed to survive against 4 specials being used against me at once when in Multiplayer I sometimes can barely survive against one
You are much more accurate than me and it doesn't save anytime, but fun fact for others, you can throw the explode on impact bomb at the triangle of targets at the end to help reduce the number of targets you have to hit... just make sure you have full ink.
Tip for those who are stuck on the octolings, make sure to keep your distance to avoid taking damage from the annoying ultimates but close enough to deal the damage, if you’re closed in try using curling bombs to swim away
you have somehow beat the secret kettle in over 11 minutes, while i’m over here taking 2 hours solely on the target popping i wish to applaud you, and also hope your sanity remains with you
I'm totally stuck at the last part of the aiming section and its driving me CRAZY. I always end up missing a single balloon! You did it so cleanly lmao
God I haven't reached that part yet but that's already giving me flashbacks to rail block level. I'm not gonna scrape years off my life doing that kettle then
The way that you do this is so streamlined, and as such, it looks equally impressive and difficult… One question, how many attemps did you need? like jeez, good job
thank you, for this run it took around 10-20 tries after having already beat it, and yeah the level was difficult even with thousands of hours in splatoon 2
Love the run! A time save could be at Puzzle when using small fry, call him back early when ready to throw so you dont have to wait that extra second to throw him again
For the octoling phase when they start jumping in onto the lower platform but the whole arena hasn't gotten bigger yet. It might help to get into one of the back corners and stay on one side to kill one as they spawn in with the hero shot and toss a bomb out to the other side so you can kill two at the same time. I also noticed that the AI for the early portion at least likes to try and get behind you so they tend to go around walls and such. It might help to memorize where the octolings spawn in for the final phase but I don't know if they're consistent everytime. There's also the fact that if you're too close to an octoling jumping in you'll get pushed back really far and might go off the edge and die. Either way this was super impressive to watch and I'm looking forward to see what else you might speedrun!
This can be optimized further, but I respect being able to do it all in one take! This is a really fun level due to the difficulty being on par with the average Octo Expansion level, just longer. The story mode levels feel easy and even boring by comparison...
The first few sections weren't all that fast but the platforming and aiming were on point, what was really impressive was the speed of the octoling fight. Insanely quick tracking, masterful ink management, and a thorough understanding of enemy spawn locations and special spawn can timing. That was a masterful display
I died so many times in this freaking level that it actually baffles me how similar my victory run and your speedrun are, this level truly is hard and challenging

I kept failing and failing for something that felt like it shouldn’t be this hard and I actually started crying and snapping at my mom because it was stressful. I did apologize to her after snapping but seriously, that part was awful TTvTT
The rails were my worst enemy. I can't stand them, I think I spent 10 minutes on that section alone, and those 10 minutes were spread across 5 hours of me pausing the game and coming back to it later. Overall my time was about 25 minutes, the rest of the sections were fun trial-and-error that I'd probably be able to do in one go now, especially the Octoling sector. We needed more Octoling stages in Alterna, there were far too few of them.
I remember doing this one litteraly two days ago in the short timeframe I’ve been playing Splatoon in general, out of everything I just had the most trouble with the the targets and the final stretch, it did take still like 15-30 tries though, my level time did tell me if I had a flawless run it would’ve taken me 25 minutes to do, now seeing this - this is rather satifying to see(and impressive).
Great run, I did notice two or three things that could be improved: 1) Don't forget to ledge cancel 2) In the first section, I feel like using your splashdown on one of the descents (maybe the second one more?) would've made it faster 3) I also feel like more precise jumps on the very first ink trails section would be slightly faster, adjusting the camera with your right stick while swimming on the first one would help a lot. If you need to move at the same time, find a point where you don't need to move to position your index finger on the left stick, and use your thumb to This Way. If you need to swim, use your middle finger to press ZL. Recalling him early would especially save time at a certain point, I'll edit the comment to provide the time stamp 7) Using LB for some snake blocks? I'm not sure so I'll rewatch to wrap my head around it and provide time stamps 8) Section 4 is mostly about better accuracy, and planning, maybe even movement thanks to squid roll and Sub Strafing, and POTENTIALLY really precise planning for computer manipulation but that would require quite the amount of testing, way too much for one person anyway Other than that, maybe using your stamp sooner, this isn't multiplayer, the bots probably won't successfully shoot you through the stamp. Nice Reef Slider though, obviously the wall was unfortunate but E Reef Slider and Stamp are nice, however I'm not sure Zooka does much, especially if you can only get one kill. If you can't get more than that, what you did for the third shot was a good idea, a bit unfortunate that you ended up hitting the wall since even if it didn't kill anyone, it would've at least provided some paint For a run probably improvised and done on the fly, that's really impressive and great, I hope you're proud of how it turned out because I really appreciated watching it, CONGRATS!
just a trick (not that you need it) but near the end of the target run you can effectively deal with them by just throwing a single burst bomb, this blasts all balloons or leaves one or two left with a single shot health at most. found those sections far easier once doing that.
Honestly all I can say with confidence, is that it is brutal and it puts what you have learned to the extreme, it is like, expert to master, thankfully I had alot of power eggs after so many failed attempts I did, so it is a challenge much harder then Mario Odyssey's true run, but in the end it was worth it
I was lucky and got through the octoling section fairly quickly. Helped to stay back and deal with them one at a time as best as I could, got it on 2nd try. HOWEVER. What really really annoyed me about this level were a bunch of small, stupid “technical” sections that lead to my death over and over again, like exiting squid form on the wrong rail or not jumping far enough. The amount of times I had avoidable deaths out of small mistakes that this level really really punishes you for is insane. Fun times tho
Really nice run! There are hardly any points o saw where time could be saved. The only advice I could give (if you really wanted to run this any more, that is) would be to not underestimate sub weapons. There was some nice Burst Bomb usage, but Curling Bombs can help a lot in the early platforming segments, and Splat Bombs are great for camping Super Jumps in the Octoling fight arena. I may have to get into speedrunning myself. If there was ever a game to finally get me started, it might be Splatoon 3.
Watching someone beat a level that took me 4 days to beat in ten minutes is so impressive but also makes me feel like the trashiest Splatoon player alive.
they really made it so a fully upgraded Hero Suit, or at least both Sensor upgrades, are essnetial for you to more easily do the final section because imagine trying to find 5 octolings scattered around the map.
i accidentally pressed start over instead of continue during the octoling fight and i was so mad that i speedran the three stages getting back to it lol. fuck this level fr
I've played this level for the first time without any upgrade, like I did for every other level. It was a bad Idea that took me 8 hours... I went back into this level the day after, fully upgraded my gears, and finished it in 3 or 4 death. And I regretted so much the time lost from first playthrough

just a trick (not that you need it) but near the end of the target run you can effectively deal with them by just throwing a single burst bomb, this blasts all balloons or leaves one or two left with a single shot health at most. found those sections far easier once doing that.
mr grizz watching you after he sends his most elite octolings just for you to massacre them all in under 3 minutes: ._.
I died like nine times before I reached the FIRST CHECKPOINT
You are amazing this deserves more views
and u deserve more subs good job!
Ah yes, my octo expansion trauma resurfaces, at least there aren't any 8 balls
You make the octoling section look like cake. Meanwhile when I did it the broke my shield in less than 0.2 second after the battle starts
The balloons you have to pop at the aiming section give me PTSD
8:55 S+ Anarchy battle be like:
1:11, if you time it correctly, you can actually jump onto the side of the rotating wall (I prefer right side), instead of having to wait.
Honestly all I can say with confidence, is that it is brutal and it puts what you have learned to the extreme, it is like, expert to master, thankfully I had alot of power eggs after so many failed attempts I did, so it is a challenge much harder then Mario Odyssey's true run, but in the end it was worth it
Oh this is 100% worth a subscribe. You are a living legend.
What's crazy is this is super impressive and there are still ways you could optimize on the platforming and rocket sections.
The final octolining battle makes you feel like inner agent 3
1:33 is it only who just holds my squid surge on the pillars here?
I do that, it works really well if u remember to press up once in a while
The fact it says 10:53 seconds not with a “NEW RECORD!” attached to it only means that this isn’t the fastest he’s beaten it. Fuckin legend
2:43 damn, nice save
When the octopods appear before the inkrails if you throw a curling bomb and jump correctly you can skip them to save time
I was two fucking hours to defeat the octolings and you do it in less than 5 mins. Just incredible
2:42 damn that save tho
You did so well! I can't look away
This is what the one successful attempt looks like after hours of failure.
2:42 Nice save
This is the first splatoon 3 speedun I’ve seen, amazing job, super impressive !!!!
Splatoon’s perfect run with a timer
Honestly after watching this, knowing there are actually checkpoints, I think I might be able to beat this
