I'm in Philippines and stopped with tanks but I plan my new house and was thinking about a cupe 60x60cm. The way you built it looks solit and also the show sump looks awesome. I might fallow this build for my future tank.
Thanks Dan for your watching, happy to know that you liked my build :)
Go and do it, it's worth!
Thanks for watching.
Hello, Where did you buy the glass from and also did you predrill the glass your self?
From any glass shops that make windows, you can order the required dimensions and thickness, also they can make the holes as you want
Great video
Thank u
Nice nano tank bro
Thank u
The joy of putting yourself together your tank is priceless.
I did the same a year ago.
Several things I've done different:
- internal overflow box with comb on three sides made out of acrylic;
- three drainpipes go through holes in the back wall, forming a BeanAnimal system;
- I've used grey pipes with black bulkheads and return nozzles;
- I've done my own DIY led lights pump.
The videos of the tank are on my channel.
I feel that two overflow boxes limited by a bulkhead inbetween is not the best solution - a large snail can cause a lot of problems if he gets into the box.
Sure, if the tank is bigger it needs better overflow system with emergency drain.
but for this size, this works perfectly too.
which light you are using for your tank?
@@ReefAmorous My tank is around 20G peninsula, not a large tank. The only difference is the pipe size you would use for a larger or smaller tank, the three pipes system is the same.
I'm using a 95W diy led light, more towards full spectrum than pure reef light, but it's controllable on two channels so I can achieve the 18000K look well:

Nice!
@@ReefAmorous This was my first attempt at making an led light and my first sumped tank, previously went for AIO. Drilling glass yourself, making acrylic overflow box from cut parts and plumbing the tank yourself - priceless.
no emergency drain makes me nervous too
This is definitely a 10, good work guys👍👍👍
Thank you
really beautiful aquarium little question you put no support to support the weight of the water? you glued its just with silicone ?? thank you.
If you use the right thickness of glass you don't need any support, in this tank I used 10mm glass, so it's strong enough
@@ReefAmorous thank you very much for your information I am very grateful for my unfortunately I have 5 mm I will give myself a support thank you again.
WOOW I WANT ONE LOL THAT IS STUNNING
You can do one bro, it's easy you have to try it :
Love watching you work! Great job!
Thank you so much
Thanks ! Very inspiring. ! Do you always put the the sides & back on top of the bottom panel ? Is it better ? I think some put the front glass over the sides & side of bottom .
Thank you for your comment!
For me yes, but It depends on the build, in larger build it may put all side panels beside of bottom, for me I keep it above but I add a braces on the button to hold it better from inside
@@ReefAmorous Thank you ! Would love to see a future build !
400 gallons system is in progress right now

This is awesome. Keep up the great work
Thank you, keep coming 😊
You’ve certainly come a long way! Building your own tank is a bold move but bravo, it looks great! Any reason you only have one drain? The hobby standard is a minimum of two drains for a herbie setup. One “full siphon” drain dialed in to be dead silent with a gate valve and a secondary backup drain to account for any flow variances or clogged drain. Three drains for a “bean animal” style overflow is even better and considered a must by most hobbyists.
I considered making my own overflow but once i added up the cost of materials, bulkheads and my time, it was much cheaper to buy an eshopps eclipse ghost overflow. The fit and finish is way nicer than anything i could have built and the internal box is only 3.3cm wide.
Do you have any leaks with your overflow like that? I cant wrap my head around how it is sealed. You have the bulkhead and gasket going through the internal box. The external is more or less being supported by the two dabs of silicon. I didnt see a gasket between the outer tank glass and the external overflow box. How is this sealed? A gasket inside the external overflow, between the glass and bulkhead nut would still allow water to lead out of the threads and drain out between the tank and external overflow. You could wrap the external threads of the bulkhead but that has bad idea written all over it. A poor and improper way to make a seal and could very likely cause the bulkhead nut to crack causing a leak later on.
Thank u so much for all of your comments, the tank is still running at my home till this comment, no leaks at all.
Regarding to have only one drain may because the size of the tank is small and one inch is good enough for it, but to be honest any next build I will build 3 as the community standard, this was a trial to make the overflow by myself and I think I succeeded. currently, I am planning to have my 180g tank and all will be my build in my 90 meter square room which is I will start with it soon, check this link

Thanks again
Nice tank!
Thank you
Hey Nice channel and contents. SUBSCRIBED!
Thank you, you are welcome :)
Good work done. Looks amazing. What u sticked at the back of the tank?
Black sticker for glass window
Do you build custom aquariums
For my personal use, yes
You should build for other aquarist it could be a very profitable business and hey even makes great for stories for your viewers it made me subscribe
I wish to have time to do that
Maybe in the future 😉
Thanks for your advice
cool!
Thank you
Love it, great work. Why didn’t you paint the pvc pipes black to make it match with the tanks? Overall I love it, even the exposed sump and all the plumbing, looks rustic. 😍👍🏼✌🏻👏🏼
Thank you for your supportive comment, this was an old build, find my recent build for 180 gallons too
Do you know we're could I find bulkheads in Amman? I would be very grateful if you do 😁
No I never found it in Amman, but you have to ask Jafar
@@ReefAmorous thanks my man 👍
great one, what is the silicon you are using ?
Black silicone for windows and doors, I forget it's name I will check it and let you Know, it's made in Germany
thanks cuz i want to order it from amazon
from your experience, does this silicon work very well for aquarium build?
Yes it is.
You are mega 🌟
Thank you Jan
good job! it looks nice! how did you paint the inside overflow box black and how did you paint the light difuser that you put as a barier for the fish to get in black? is there any aquarium safe paint?
I didn't paint anything, all used is cover the out side box the same way used to cover the background of the tank itself.
Regarding to the pump partitions you can use ether black glass or acrylic sheets, but don't use any paint
@@ReefAmorous ohh ok thank you very much! Acrylic cant be used for the outside too? Or its too easy to leak?
@@ReefAmorous also Is the outside safe enough to not leak? The 2 silicon drops are there on the sides to make it stay there and not move? Is it safe to make more holes?
Yes, but what I meant is to use the acrylic sheets beside the glass as light shield not as partitions.
Otherwise you can use the black glass if available
I am sorry if it was not clear enough in the video.
See, the 2 silicone drops to stay on it's place but the bulkhead itself gather it with the tank from bother side, so if no silicone in between it's safe too
The only glass I can find is only 3mm. Where should I look for 5,6,8,10mm glass? Thanks and great tank!
Any glass work shop
You are welcome, thanks for watching
Well done 👍🏻
Thank you!
That was actually a good video. Good job. Sell any of those tanks in California? I can help you push them.
Thank you, I love I could do such thing, but actually I am far away from US
@@ReefAmorous good for you. Keep it up.
Thank u so much, see u again.
👍
ME GUSTA
Muchas gracias por mirar
Good job buddy 😁 Allah ye3tek sa7a
Thank you dude :)
clear silicon has a stronger bond than compared to black silicon...
I don't think it makes difference
How do I get in touch with you do you have a website
Sorry I don't have a website, feel free to contact me on my Facebook page and will send you private contact information if u want
Sorry if I didn't see it correct, but did you put the side panels on top of the bottom glas panel? I thought that you always put them beside the bottom panel because you don't want to put pressure on the base. Or is that only with the larger tanks? Been trying to decide if I want to make my own aquarium.
We never put the side panels beside the bottom ether the tank was small or big
very nice 👍
Thanks Ahmad
Sweet
Thank you
Beautiful set up - are you able to let me have the plans?
Let me know what you want to know and will do. No problem.
Thanks for watching
If you have a cutting list for the glass and a list of the other components that would be fab!
I will update the description soon and I will leave a comment for you to be notified.
You are welcome!
Which model light is it ?
Combination of kessil A8x2 + zetlight za1201
@@ReefAmorous what glass did u use?
Normal glass (not tempered) thickness 10mm
@@ReefAmorous thank you, great video.
Thank you, you are welcome.
Like a pro is a stretch - I appreciate the DIY aspect but the silicone work doesn't look good at all.
Yah some how, look to the end result, don't look to the miss during the video recording
ReefAmorous did you use a blade or something to cut or remove excess silicone? If you did I probably missed that.
Yes, that's why I said look to the end result, I didn't record this part
I have seen way more worse builds and that was a tank builder. He seems be a hobbyist and that for it looks great.
Amature at best, those joins and seams need a lot more practice.
Keep working on it bud, you'll get there.
Nicely edited though :)
I am doing my best dude, definitely will reach there and maybe even beyond :)
If a pro gave me those silicone seams, id be asking for a refund. Just saying. Tape it off.
I agree, the seams look really messy on some parts. The build layout looks cool though.
After removing the tape, will appear some parts need to be fixed
But the finish is different, thanks for watching
Great job man forget these trash talkers
Thank you for your support :)
The thickness of the silicone between glass must be bigger to provide breathing of the aquarium..glass on glass no way! I think it is realy amateur build...
goran juventus i disagree with this. Professional tank manufacturers of aquariums big and small leave a microscopic gap between the glass seams. You cant fit a 1/4mm wide razor blade between the panes. You must use the thinnest piano wire to cut the tank apart. Anything outside of the direct glass on glass silicon sammich provides no structural integrity, just aesthetics.
