Thank you for the video. I suggest that you do NOT have a fixed eyesplice in the ends of the anchorsnubber ropes. WHEN you just tie the ends of the snubber on to the cleats, it will always be possible for you to release the snubber - even under load. If the snubber is hanging in the loops over the cleats, it is impossible to untie, when it is under load. On the other hand - IF you another time have an emergency - then you CAN untie the snubbers and let it go, if it is just tied without loops. Then you do not need to use a knfe. I
don’t need loops on the ends. just tie the ends to deck cleats like any other line. that way, in a heavy unexpected blow, you can release from the cleats. eyelets can’t do that. release end of anchor line at same time, with a float attached for later retrieval
You did it the right way. What I do is add a four foot chain as a chafe guard where it passes through on each side of the hawspipe in the line so all the chafing is on the chain and then a another six feet.of line up to the cleat to either tie it off with. I always drop plenty of chain in the loop to hold the snubber down and the hook in place too.
This is the older Mantus Chain Hook. If you use the new Mantus M2 chain hook you don’t have to lean over the bow rail to affix the chain hook. It’s designed to roll over the bow roller.
I only have about 20-feet of chain on my anchor but often need to let out about 50-70 feet of rode. How would you use a snubber on anchor line instead of chain?
If you have nylon rope in the water, you really don’t need a snubber since the nylon absorbs the shock. Just take the pressure off the windlass by wrapping the rope around a cleat after you anchor.
Will that netting keep a 13lb dog from running off the sides of the boat? I’m wanting to buy a boat myself but I know my silly dog is going to end up overboard 😂🙈

Great video! Thank you. We just bought a bridle and this was super helpful

I'm pretty sure a hawsipe is a hole in the haul of the boat usually in the stern that your dock line goes through not the dock line guide on the bow
Excellent. I'm not a sailor recreationally (yet). Former USN and looking to return to the sea with my own rig.
Informative video. Needs more background racket, though. 😉

This isn't a Mantis actually. I designed this one myself. It's a custom build.
I like the old chain hook better
Ahhh the peace and quietness at the anchor spot……. Not so much 🤭
Great video though 👍🏻🤗
I do kind of the same but leave a shock line attached to my bow eye which to me puts the force closer to the waterline which I think is better.
Great video Captain!! Thanks!
👍I love this! I’m gonna do this. Thank you. 💝
Nice explanation
where did you purchase your snubber bridal? i like the type of hook yours has
Thanks! Nice video.
very educative
Hi very interesting how long is your bridle rope? I have a 53’ Bruce Robert metal trawler boat ?
I think it’s 12 ft from eye to clasp.
Great video.
Tommy Watters Thank you.
Thanks.
What is the name of the store you went to for the repair?
Miami cordage. They built it and repaired it.
@@MASTERPLANMIAMI Should have known. A friend just got 200’ of anchor chain there, I have yet to go.
You need to post more videos!
What's the total lenght of the snubber you have? Sounds like I need the exact same thing.
15 ft each side.
I only have about 20-feet of chain on my anchor but often need to let out about 50-70 feet of rode. How would you use a snubber on anchor line instead of chain?
Steve Fazio Check out Anchor Sentinel. I’m not familiar with snubbers in the rode but check that out. Google it.
Look up Mantus pendant. I have 60 ft chain and 300 ft rode, works great and very strong.

Next time Turn off that music before shooting the video. Some people are studying...
