Those are machines from the 50's and 60's and they keep working. I have a tin box from 1965. Zero rust. A peeler from "west germany", its lost now but lasted 45 years or so..a german peeler jajaj. I've got a 2016 Epiphone LPC 1955 reissue, which comes with Gibson USA P90 pickups. It's an incredible guitar for under $1K, but I want it to have an AlNiCo-5 "staple" pickup and Bigsby, so I ordered them and will be installing soon. The neck on this model feels wonderful, and the aged gloss finish feels much better than typical gloss poly. I bought another one to put mini-humbuckers in, because I love it so much, and 1955 is my birthy!

I had a '55 Custom. The slotted pickups were nicknamed "the Velvet Hammer'. I also had a '57 gold top with humbuckers & rosewood fret board. To me I felt the Custom ebony fret board had more treble and the pick ups had more definition. No foot pedals ever needed. Customs forever.

Great comparison John. I'm sure a '57 or '58 burst is worth a lot more money but that goldtop with the P-90's and wraparound bridge is where it's at for me. I love the clean sounds and with a little gain that is the sound of rock n' roll. What a tone. I am assuming that a bone stock '54 is several thousand but maybe a player grade could be had for less than $5,000......thoughts Mr. Bohlinger or other viewers?

I always just drop in for the playing, cause it is consistently super good. Just for making it a better player, if I had the Goldtop, I'd put that wraparound bridge in a safe place for later and change to one of the aftermarket wraparounds that have adjustable saddles and mounting post screws. I have one on my Junior and you can dial in the intonation perfectly. They are also beefier in terms of mass, which probably doesn't hurt either.

Hey John! Great playing and great sounds! What pedal were you using for your dirt in this? Sounds crazy good!!

I've made a lot of videos lately but if I remember right, this is a Fender Blues Jr. Pedals were a Green MXR Drive, an @EHX Oceans 11, and a Boss DD7 delay. Thanks for watching.
