    Finally an authentic way instead of forever these exaggerated 80s style tutorials. Three times thanks

    Thank you @AdobeMasters. This is exactly what I needed for a showcase I was working on with a 1982 Ford Mustang GT. I thought it was pretty good in 4K first time around, then I used this tutorial and applied the filter through out and.... NIGHT AND DAY DIFFERENCE! Really gave it that 80's feel without really having to think about it. You see VHS filters and your brain just notices it right away. This is a great way to avoid that "in-your-face" effect.

    it's like it's actually 80s footage and not an rgb fever dream like literally every other tutorial

    • @AdobeMastersOfficial
      @AdobeMastersOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha thanks. Yah, I was tired of the same thing. There is a time for some really over the top 80's, but other times, we just need to nudge the footage a bit to bring it to the authentic 80's.

    How can I use this effect and have it transition to not having an effect at all, all on the same clip?

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This may be a little late, but you can put all the effects on an adjustment layer on top of your footage and then keyframe the opacity of the effect so it fades in or out!

    Am I able to do this with photos to capture this look?

    • @AdobeMastersOfficial
      @AdobeMastersOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yah, you could create a single frame and apply these effects to it and then render out a JPEG sequence, which would only render a single image out because that's all there is!

  • @SplittingProductions
    @SplittingProductions 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The one thing that it is missing is it should be put into a 4:3 ratio :p

    • @tommyhartley5751
      @tommyhartley5751 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is that what the 1980's films had?

    • @SplittingProductions
      @SplittingProductions 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tommyhartley5751 Good point. Guess it depends what you're making it for. TV shows would still be in 4:3. Movies started going into 16:9 in the 80s though.
      Edit: I wanna edit this because after I said that I realized honestly I don't know the history of aspect ratios perfectly so I may be flawed in that. Plus I was thinking of displayed on TVs only as obviously if you went in a movie theater there were other formats long before the 80s.
      In short the best answer is "it depends what you're making it for." Though I do believe most TV was in 4:3, just like I said I may be wrong.

    If you look at the fil that ET, Star Wars, Indiana Jones has a feeling and look that is Ciminatic! The video these days looks unreal, too much definition and lighting looks unreal these days.
    E.T by far was the best by far. Whatever was done to create that, would really take off in 2020.

    You should have showed video instead of a still image and showed it at the beginning of the video.
