This is gotta be the best tutorial for VHS effects for premiere pro. The tutorials from other youtubers shows VHS effects that are very artificial looking and are trying too hard to imitate the look of a VHS. This is simply the best!
Yeah, that other one just has the line going down and the date. But the footage it's self looks really new, while this one looks really retro. I love this tutorial and love the way my video is coming out.
Of all the retro “looks” I’ve seen on TH-cam, this one is very pleasing to the eye because it doesn’t look over done. It looks very authentic, you’ve earned a like!
This tutorial is probably the closest to achieving that vintage 70s-80s (woodstock) type of texture. What Ive been doing for my videos is adding some overlay scratches and it really does the job. Thanks!
This is literally the best tutorial for vhs effect I could find, I don't understand how some much worse ones have like 700 k views and yours does not even have 100 k.
This one actually saves a lot of work and computing power by using a different effect. Hell, I just applied most of it in an entirely different program and it still works!
Best VHS Premiere tutorial hands down. All I wanted to know was how to emulate the texture. Not necessarily all the tracking glitches and artifacts. Bravo!
What I like to do is make the film in Premiere Pro, no VHS effects or anything. Then I plug my computer into the VCR with an HDMI to AV converter and record the video onto a VHS tape. Once it's done recording, I'll play the tape back, this time recording it onto my computer using a VHS to HSMI converter. I find it's the only way to get the 100% authentic VHS look!
it really is the best demonstration of how to do it right. The majority of the tutos out there end up making a very artificial effect, yours is spot on! Also you explain all the effect in detail it makes everything super clear. Thank you for that man.
this tutorial is simply the best, it really does look like a VHS lol, idk how there are so many other tutorials about "VHS" and the footage looks like it was recorded with a badly glitched and damaged camera, thanks for this
Sorry, maybe I'm not here on the current topic. I wanted to show you old VHS videos from Russia in the 90s (there are a lot of them on my channel). Sorry. th-cam.com/video/mRGb-Jzpl_o/w-d-xo.html
Hello there. So I'm following along with this tutorial. In 2021, lol. At 4:42 you mentioned about a Channel effect which I do not see or is no longer there. Help? Lol. (UPDATE: So I just went ahead and used another option; Chromatic Aberrations. I'm guessing that was the updated version of Channel Effects? It turned out pretty good after some very long trials and errors... BUT...a new problem has arisen. I'm not sure how to import the VHS Assets to PP. Can it still be used in the Adobe PP in 2021?
I tried it in my most recent video and I'm really happy with the way it looks. I didn't even use the overlay in the pack you gave but I'm sure that would've taken it to the next level. Great tutorial
this is the kind of VHS look I was looking for, too many other tutorials try to make it look crisp with some colour bleed but then it doesnt look right, the fuzzy look of VHS is why people like looking at it
Great Video, thanks for the help btw! Quick question, in your instruction you mention "(The VHS Shake preset is designed to work on HD 1920×1080 footage. If your footage is a different size, nest it in a 1920×1080 sequence first," How do I do that "Nest"??

ong this is amazing
Your VHS looks more authentic compared to others tutorials
its amazing how technology has advanced to the point where we have to emulate imperfections
Yeah...
for anyone looking for the channel blur filter in pp 2021, they moved it to the obsolete folder under video effects :))
tysm
thanks!!
Thanks a lot
thank you!!
thank you
so if i do everything in reverse, i can make VHS look like bluray right?
Yes! 😁
I think the problem with many of the emulating the vhs-look-vids is that, they’re sort of exaggerated in their look, this one looks good -very good.
@@mattm3729 yes but how is this relevant to the comment you're replying to
now that's 200 IQ reverse engineering
Your genius is frightening

My computer is having a stroke for playback but we're getting somewhere with this! Thank you!
Reduce the preview rendering to half or a quarter
stop
just turn off turbulent displace
didn't think I'd see you here
Pressing "Enter" keyboard to render the preview first
This tutorial is probably the closest to achieving that vintage 70s-80s (woodstock) type of texture. What Ive been doing for my videos is adding some overlay scratches and it really does the job. Thanks!
How do you do that? I tried adding some free vhs glitch videos from youtube but it didn't work as i thought it would...
This is literally the best tutorial for vhs effect I could find, I don't understand how some much worse ones have like 700 k views and yours does not even have 100 k.
more proof that actual talent usually is drowning in fakes, ugly truth of media in general
Couldn't agree more. 👍

God bless this man for providing the best dam vhs look without third part effects.
This has to be one of the easiest to understand tutorials I've ever watched for Premiere Pro! Thanks!
Thank you. This is one of the best video tutorials I've seen in more than 20 years.
best tutorial for a VHS look. thank you for not gatekeeping and truly helping make us better at our craft

impossible
@@shayaanrk Possible
holy shit can you make a video about this PLEASE?
@@twodizzy2979 Possibly. My VCR is at school, so it might be a little difficult, but I can give it a shot
It's overkill, but I admire the dedication. :D

This is easily the most authentic VHS edit I’ve seen.
Thank you for this video! This is personally the best and most simplest way I've seen to producing a VHS look in Premiere Pro
and that's how a tutorial is done. title that is TRUE and a very simple yet easy to understand explanation for people who are new to the program
This is hands down the BEST tut I've ever found, I needed it twice and nearly had a heart attack when I couldn't find it. This really is boss.
That unsharp mask just ties it all together! Thanks for this tutorial!

Bless your heart. Bless your family. You are my new God. THIS IS PERFECT!!! THANK YOU!!!!!

Create a 1080p sequence, put your footage in it and stretch it to fit the sequence size.
What a video bro! Can't thank you enough! Thank you so much you made life so much easier!
This is amazing and seamlessly works for After Effects
This tutorial helped me a ton. Thank you!

Any chance you could create a tutorial on how to do this exact same thing, but in After Effects?
