    The BEST and simplest TRUE explanation of the mechanics of going over the top. Thank you so much!

    I have been hitting fade and slice for years, I'm not kidding when I say it's been holding me back for a long time, I'm sat at the range right now and I was in a mood so I googled how to fix an over the top swing and I have just done what uou said and I'm hitting my driver and irons with a draw. This is magic and just what I needed. Now just to dial it in. Thanks so much

      Which one did you do? The one with the head cover or the first one?

    One thing that really helped me when I was struggling with slices at first, was that light bulb moment when I realized at the end of my swing, if I feel like my chest is still closed and facing the ball while making contact, I usually hit it from the inside out. Where if I went over the top like a baseball swing, I felt like my chest was already facing the target by the time I made contact. Basically I just realized that I needed to feel like I stay closed, towards the ball longer. What you feel is not always what's real, especially with golf. Usually to make a change in golf, you have to do the extreme and then narrow it back down. So if you have a bad slice, you need to feel like you're hooking the ball for a while, and then narrow it back down. Basically just do the opposite to the extreme, and you will realize many times it's not as extreme as it feels like.

    I have this problem. I’m a 7-10 handicap but struggle with shallowing, always have so I play my fade all day. I started to shift my plane behind me and I now have the ability to hit a draw when I need it. I’m just not capable of finding the slot normally as my hips and upper body force my club face to be wide open. Over the years, I just learned how to control
    It. This video was a huge help.

    Took this to the range today and it worked! Thank you. The under shoulder plane takeaway did the trick

    ❤❤❤ Hey man - I was struggling so much lately… took a video and yes, hit way over the top. Then looked at a bunch of videos where they say hip first and it just didn’t work for me as I need to think too much and then I just hit the most terrible shots…. So I put my cover down and just think about chest closed at impact… I hit 30 min of baby draws in a simulator straight with an iron 7. Average distance around 140 which tells you am not a great golfer but the fact that they all went straight and flew was amazing. Wow, just wow. 🤩

    What a tip! I’m a 10 handicap and have taken more than a handful of lessons over the years. This is hands down the best swing thought for grooving an in to out swing

    this video helped me so much. I was able to go out with no practice and hit off the tee with only 2 bad drives. the idea of keeping my back to the target as long as possible and separating my torso and hips was so good.

    AMAZING..I used tondo this until a pro told me not too..he also didnt like how i let my left foot turn left on the down swing to help my back..now all the pros will let their foot turn so they can hit the ball a long way..bubnba, scheffler, patrick read etc..that pga pro lives 5 house away and i go out of my way to avoid him..thanks for reminding me to swing this way...could you do follow up videos on driving, fairway woods and even chipping (your instruction is so much better than my neighbours)

    Thanks so much Dave..will try tomorrow..hopimg bending over more will also mean that i might lift up a bit in the downswing to keep the heel away from my iron shots...cheers

    Great tip, i always start my swing with the upper body and do the same on the downswing, disassociating will probably cure this flaw.

    Great advice, logical and practical, however I am struggling to keep it consistent and have a tendency to duff. I am struggling with over the top swing for +20 years now and it became a norm for me which is bad, lose distance and fade ball. 😢 Thank you Titleist and Dave for the advice 👍👍👍 will work on the drill

  • @jcr6651
    @jcr6651 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I know Im over the top..been so for years...when it's bad, straight pulls. All anyone ever says is, and what I have tried is to keep the back to the target longer. Hit it straight doing this, but lose distance. Never would have imagined that shallower plane back would help. Would have though the opposite..CAN'T WAIT TO TRY THESE.

    Just went and tried this with a bucket of balls and a 9 iron. The shots felt so much better/different/pure .
    Would this work for driver as well ??

    Do not fix this!!! This is a very common misconception in golf. Some of the best players in the world swing over the top. Actually most players prefer a fade/cut rather than a draw. Play the over the top, get good at it and you will learn how to shape over time. I went over the top all day today and had my best round ever not second guessing my swing. Finally shot a 79, and it was at the toughest local course.

    • @n41698m
      @n41698m ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Playing a fade is not the same as swinging over the top and steep. Even the best players in the world who play a fade still shallow the club

      agreed. dis-association is nonsense. his fix to swing arms over the head cover is clearly separating his arms from his body.

    • @MattiasA72
      @MattiasA72 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@brentmar2635I believe that's a feel drill. You have to exaggerate the feel to get it right. Feeling like you're taking it back on the outside and loop in from the inside (Matt Wolfe) will maybe cure it and then you can take it away as you should. IMO of course. I'm struggling with OTT where my right shoulder goes out so I will try both these. I'm 6'4 so maybe the bend over more thing will be better for me.
