The larger new raised beds for the strawberries sounds like a great idea. I am learning as well but put in a few of the honeoye ones three years ago. I have found them to be very vigorous and have put out many runners the last two years. I'm working with just a small bed 4x8 and planted in just one half of the bed. I have been removing the runners until now but plan to let them spread to the other side of the bed next year for fresh plants. The squirrels took any of the berries the first year but I kept them covered and managed to get a few for eating this summer. I look forward to seeing how the Kent variety turn out.
Nice to hear how your brain works in problem solving and trying to plan what might work best. I am totally in this brain space currently. You have a lovely yard! I can only imagine what it looks like in mid summer!
