yo dude, just subbed but aint been here much before. Im looking for info specifically on blue jeans poison dart frogs, cos they are the smallest and am trying to figure out what is the smallest you can get away with without being cruel to the creature. @@TroyGoldberg so pumilio isnt just their name.. arrr.. gotya. is there a reason there's little info to be found on them as pets. or rather visual stuff u know.. ty for replying
Oh wow, the females carry the tads in this species? That's cool, I thought it was always the males that did that! Question.. I always heard you need a calcium/clay background with them, and should the springs be dusted for the babies? The mention of calcium is when you said you start feeding ff's.. so theres no risk of seizures until they're big enough for dusted flies? Im a little over half way finished with your video so forgive me if Im asking too soon :)
Troy, i build a tank special for a trio of Bastimentos. Nighttemp can range from 18.5-19.5C. Daytemp around 26C in the top and 23C in the bottom. Could you say something about the temperature tolerances of Pumilio and the 'perfect' husbandry? Love your vids man!
@@TroyGoldberg good to know, thanks. I've read an article about some researchers taking measurements in certain areas where pumilio is native and they wrote 76-77F was the average temp for them, i was a little bit worried i would keep them too cold.
Great video! For me breeding the springtail efficiently has turned out to be a bigger problem than breeding and raising the frogs :-) do you do anything specific against slugs? I have problems with them eating the eggs, and I can't seem to get them under control picking them off of cucumbers
MrYangBilly hmmmm occasionally I’ll see a slug in a tank, but I wouldn’t say I have a problem with them. I’ve gotten rid of excess snails and slugs with bananas
Interesting regarding spikey proms. I have a few bromeliads for a Leuc tank (that have not been introduced yet) with spikey edges on them. Do you think Leucs will be ok with these?
YummiestOrphan should not be a problem with leucs, they don’t use the bromeliads as frequently like the histo and Sylvatica do, so it should not be a problem with leucomelas
hey Troy, I was wondering after the pumilio babies get larger(get legs) do you still keep them with the breeder pair or parents? Or do you separate them? Thanks alot
With having such a wet floor, do you just choose plants that are semi aquatic? I'm building a drip wall, and expect the floor to get fairly wet though there is ample drainage with the substrate separated from the water so it won't be waterlogged.

Abg, and most recommended vivarium substrates drain so well that a ton of varieties of plants can be used.
Which frog do I hear calling in the background? Thanks for the tank size information. Is that the size for a pair? I’m looking to acquire a pair.
I have 3 D. Azureus in a 40 breeder.
Can you feed them baby isopods
Not as a staple... but if the tanks have isopods breeding on them, the frogs will definitely snack on baby sips isos
