    Thinking about picking one of these up in that lovely teal/blue colour to supplement my road bike for commuting and weekend pub trips via the woods/towpaths, thanks for the video!

    Had my Scott aspect 940 stolen a few weeks ago.
    So bought a trek marlin 7 a few days ago.
    Really impressed with the bike. And especially the 1x10 drive train.
    Went for the greyish colour. The orange/red was put of stock.
    Can't wait to get this bike loaded up for a wild camp and bikepacking trip

    I just picked up a 2022 in the same style. My current bike is the Singletrack 930. I haven't been riding for years, but getting back into it. The 930 is going to my son.

    Nice edit , looking at this bike for similar reasons to yourself. I,m rural riding woodland trails. It can mount a rear rack and support stand which is handy for bike packing if you don,t use frame bags
    and agree on the front chain ring. Converted a 3 x 9 for at 30 t on the front.

    Trek had to be ass hats and not allow internal drop post routing....so do what we all did: drill a hole at the back of the seat post. Add a grommet and you're good to go! Excellent choice changing from a 28t to a 32t. Keeps from spinning wheels.

      That’s unfortunate. My QR is solid mate.
      And I suppose you cant agree with everyone but I push this thing pretty hard and have had nothing let me down. And I have a couple of top3 finishes on strava downhill sections. The front shock is pretty basic, but that’s about it.

    Nice video. It’s been awhile. Did you do the upgrades?
    I’ve been riding my 2019 Marlin 7 during all four seasons in the northeast US. I did the tubeless conversion and added a dropper post early last spring. Highly recommended and a game changer on any ride.
    Thank you for pointing out your BB/crank upgrade. I ditched the riveted 3x crankset to do a 1x conversion (Fifty fifty 32t narrow-wide using my 2000 era hardtail’s crank) but now I need a new BB (and likely new pedals) because of the ice and mud contamination. Trek now claims you can go up to a 34t cog on a 1x.
    Happy riding!

      They are not tubeless ready. Sadly.

    • @kwaktak
      @kwaktak 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Technically they are not, but that just means you have to have to put tape in the channel and buy tubeless valves. There are several videos here on TH-cam that document the process. The specialized tape found at LBSs can be pricey but Gorilla tape will work. I’ve done it with a 2019 Marlin 7. Getting the bead to set was the hardest part because I don’t have access to an air compressor.
