- The one thing everyone needs and wants to see when visiting China is the Great Wall, and we are no different! We decided to visit the Badaling sections of the Great Wall as this is the most accessible section of the wall to get to from Beijing, however, because it's so easily accessed this means it is by far the most popular and crowded part of the wall to visit, and in our opinion, it was a mistake coming to this section...

The Badaling Great Wall is the most famous, the highest, the widest, and also the most crowded. The most I recommend is the Jinshanling Great Wall, which is the farthest from downtown Beijing. It has not undergone too much maintenance and keeps its appearance closer to the original, and there are few tourists, so you can enjoy the scenery alone.

The Chinese people are generally friendly towards foreigners, especially the middle-aged and elderly. You're right, they might think you're a celebrity, and taking a photo with you is something they can proudly show off.

Many of these local Chinese comes from many parts of china especially in their home town where western tourists or foreigners don't go to .When they see western or non-chinese they tend to take photo with them for memories and also to show to their fellowmen that they have a chance to meet foreigners

I definitely agree. Whenever I hear people say they want to visit the Great Wall, I always tell them to skip this section. It's worth the extra hassle for the difference between a theme park experience and a historical site experience.

Oooops! Of all the parts of walls you can visit this has to be the most touristic wall. Looks like Badaling Wall to me, should have gone to Mutianyu, less tourists there. But anyway glad you guys had a great trip. Great for 'butts' and legs exercise
Haha it was a workout and a half! We did go to Badaling and even though we had a good day and it was the most accessible on our next visit we hope to go to a more remote section of the wall for a different type of experience
To be honest, as an authentic Chinese, I don't understand why so many people love to take photos with strangers.
When more and more foreigners come to China day by day, they will lose interest.

it's usually just chinese tourists from less cosmopolitan cities who never seen a foreigner in real life, especially a red head 😅. locals from big cities like beijing, shanghai, etc are like whatever towards foreigners 🤣. also a generational thing. younger folks with more exposure to western culture through social media have a sense it's kind of weird so they won't engage, but someone older from a smaller town would have no idea of what westerners think is strange or even rude so it's more an honest cultural gap.
people are just curious. I have seen people wanted to take picture with black tourists. Some authentic Chinese just like to take photo of everything. Some authentic Chinese are not interested getting pictures taken.

I would mostly recommend Jinshanling and Simatai (as a part of Gubei Water Town). these two sections are much less visited and rough original compared to Badaling and Mutianyu.
Cherry blossom originated in the Himalayas in China's territory and found its way to Japan in the Tang Dynasty. Of course you would see cherry blossom in China.

There is a much less crowded section of the great wall which is equally as interesting and beautiful in Dai County, Shanxi province, called Yanmen Pass. But as you pointed out, it's not as easily accessible.

Ohhh depending what you’re looking but I would say Southeast Asia so you can appreciate the beaches and some of the beautiful islands, this way you can fully relax
If you want to see a lot of new things, it is better to go to China. If you want to lie on the beach with seafood, the southeast asian countries are easier for the foreigners.
There are parts of China that's super romantic, but SE Asia is nice too. It depends on preference 😊
China's Sanya is very good, with very beautiful seascapes. You can go to some newly developed beaches in Sanya, such as Wanning. China's five-star hotels are much more cost-effective compared to those in Southeast Asia. The rooms are new and large, with an area of about 45 square meters. But when it comes to eating seafood and snacks, it is still cheaper in Southeast Asia.

I feel that the bloggers who say such things are biased against China before they come here and feel that it is not so good, so the expectations are also low. I think I understand what you’re saying. But to be honest we were apprehensive about our trip to China because of the unknown and because we didn’t know what to expect and that is the truth. We try not to hold prejudice or bias because you truly don’t know a place until you experience it for yourself. We really loved our time in China and hope many more people come to experience it for themselves
