I haven't seen or heard these games since my childhood. I was certain at that time that this was the most advanced science and technology on the planet. Kids must give this old stuff their one second of attention, laugh, then stick their heads back in their mega loaded cell phone
2:55 That voice saying "B-17 BOOOOOOOMBER" just took me back to being 4 years old and sliding the little insert into the paddle and dropping some bombs...
Actually, the Intellivision II had one major difference from the original version: Mattel tried to lock out third party games by checking each cartridge for a particular string. Because of this, some versions of Coleco games won't work on the Intellivision II.
So cool seeing this. Great job showing the games. Takes me back to when my dad and i played baseball. He kicked my ass 😞😡 He still till this day 2023 brings it up. 😂😂😂😂
Dragon Fire, Demon attack, Dungeons and dragons, baseball, football, B17 bomber, bomb squad, all games i played millions of times! I wore those Control pads out. Some buttons started to stick.
We were an Atari family...I have all thier systems and some of their computers....however....as an older collector I finally picked up an Intellivision about 5 years ago....im impressed. It is a very good system. Any kid getting one back in the day would have been happy. Few stinkers on the system. Most popular games made it to it....including a wayyyy superior Pac man. I love buying new homebrew for it though they are pricey AF.
I had that Mattel Football game. I played that thing until it malfunctioned. I eventually got myself an Atari 2600, but it took some talking to convince my parents to allow me to spend the money. I had a lot of fun with it. I had a friend that had an Intellivision. I enjoyed playing with him on it. I remember playing Auto Racing and Astrosmash. That was a lot of fun. I never got one myself, but I did eventually get a Texas Instruments TI-99/4A and later a Commodore 64.
Intellivision is a classic video game console that was first released in 1979. It was developed by Mattel Electronics and was one of the first home gaming systems to use a microprocessor. The console featured a variety of games, including sports, action, and arcade-style titles, and could be played with one or two players. One of the standout features of the Intellivision was its controller, which included a numeric keypad, directional pad, and several action buttons. This allowed for more complex game play and greater control over in-game actions. The console was also notable for its graphics and sound capabilities, which were advanced for the time. It was particularly successful in the early 1980s, but faced increasing competition from other home gaming systems and was eventually discontinued in 1990. Despite this, the Intellivision remains a beloved piece of gaming history and has a dedicated community of fans and collectors.
Too cool, thanks for sharing. My neighbor gave me an Intellivision 1&2. Can I play off modern TV or need an old CRT? With that lil box thing you showed
This was my first gaming console which I got second hand from my older cousin along with her Star Explorer pinball machine, but yeah just when Nintendo was hitting the market I got this wonder of electronic goodness, good times.
Is it possible to play Intellivision, this days?. Very interesting to atleast buy one, just nice to have in the collection, just because it is a part of the history of gaming.
The game Sea Battle was my favorite game, I was World Champion of it and retired undefeated. If I still had my Intellivision and anyone wanted to try their luck, I'd still whoop that ass, lol. My 2nd favorite was Biplanes on Triple Action, awesome game. Between Sea Battle, Biplanes, and Night Stalker, I completely wore out that game console, actually the controllers, since IMO they were the bad part of the system.
The final intellivoice compatible game was The World Series baseball game and that required the ECS keyboard. Good luck finding the ECS keyboard now lol.
Ummm...okay, I want you to know that what I'm about to say isn't to put you down, make fun of you or start trouble. You did a very good job here. However, I would be remiss if I did not address something you said that was...incorrect. You stated that the Intellivision was 16-bit which is 100% true but the bit about its colors isn't quite right. The consoles "bits" really has little to do with the color it can display. As an example the Sega Master System has a Zilog Z-80 8-bit microprocessor beating proudly inside of it. That console can display a resolution of 256x192@32 colors per screen with a total pallet of 64 colors. The reason it has the ability to display double the colors of the Intellivision is its VDP (Video Display Processor). For reference- The Intellivision features an STIC (Standard Television Interface Chip) General Instrument AY-3-8900. It features 16 color pallet@2 colors per tile. There are other modes that allow all 16 colors for both foreground and background layers. If you're still interested I would look it up as it truly is fascinating.
It had the edge in graphics and sound, but many of the games felt somewhat sluggish to play. Don't get me wrong, the Intellivision had some great games, but many action games on the Atari 2600 just felt faster and more responsive.
Great video! I have 2 of these systems, one original and one Sears version (yes, Sears....lol). And lots of games. Who here can tell me how to hook them up to my Sony Bravia 4K? I have all the old connection crap stored away someplace (switches, cables etc), but please tell me someone has come up with a simple HDMI adapter option! Thanks!
Odd how most games on Intellivision looked better than the Atari 2600 but Demon Attack is such an exception. It was so much better on Atari and was one of my favorite titles.
That’s not actually the only one and at the time, some experts/maagzines began to question if the intv was superior - and just how superior. The activation, imaging, and newer Atari games raised the Atari bar quite a bit. The 2600’s biggest advantage was the color palette. Of course it all was moot once colecovision and the 5200 were released.
Even thought the Intellivision was far more advanced that the Atari 2600 and they both launched at the same time , Atari sold 30 million 2600 units while Intellivision only sold 3 million. The reason ??? Atari was a pick up and play system while the Intellivision was more complex to learn , people back then (myself included) had no understanding about video games and there was only pinball machines around in front of store lobby's and arcades in the mid 70's More than likely Atari could have easily sold 70 million units (maybe even up to 90 million) of the 2600 if they hadn't come out with the 5200/7200 as consumers were thrown off by Atari's new launch of another system and even quicker launch of the 7200 dooming thier console line, most of their best games for the 5200/7200 were just reskinned 2600 games with just a bit better graphics and playstyle but people had to pay a lot for a single cartridge back then 20 to 50 dollars when min wage was around 4 bucks.
Absolutely none of this is true. First they weren’t released at the same time giving the 2600 a huge advantage. Second, some intv games being “complex” was Not an issue - maybe for you, you’re obviously a simpleton, but people craved more complex games and in fact intv’s most successful system sellers were the more complex games like football. People were also playing increasingly complex arcade and computer games by the early 80s. The real failure of intellivision was due to the atrocious controllers, and the lack of the arcade hits Atari had. The rise of activation/imaging and newer Atari games with improved graphics also rendered intv’s superior graphic marketing less effective. Of course the release of Cv and 5200 ended any hope at all intv which was doomed to never sell another unit the day colecovision was released - for obvious reason. The release of colecovision- as well as the improvement in arcades. And lower cost of computers was the reason Atari could never have just sat on the 2600 as you claim lol! In fact bushnell had planned to upgrade by 1980/81 - needed in such a fast paced industry. The Atari 8 bits were originally envisioned as 2600 successors. Finally the 5200 and 7800 games were far more than “reskinned”. Yes it’s true that they rehashed many arcade hits, but the music/sound, AND gameplay were all heavily improved as well as graphics. 5200 defender for example is like 2600 defender in name only. Many other things you said were wrong - but I’ll stop here.
Wow. I’m 56… flash back to an amazing time on the US.
I got one in 1982, best Xmas EVER!
It was a better, simpler time.
Utopia and Sea Battle were my favorite games.
I haven't seen or heard these games since my childhood. I was certain at that time that this was the most advanced science and technology on the planet. Kids must give this old stuff their one second of attention, laugh, then stick their heads back in their mega loaded cell phone
I was 10 when a school friend invited me to play his intellivision. So cool, so hyped at that time.
Great video and review of my very first gaming system! Shark Shark Frog Bog, NFL, MLB, Space Armada, BodySlam! Burger Time I can go on.
2:55 That voice saying "B-17 BOOOOOOOMBER" just took me back to being 4 years old and sliding the little insert into the paddle and dropping some bombs...

I loved "bump and jump" on the intellivision!
So cool seeing this. Great job showing the games. Takes me back to when my dad and i played baseball. He kicked my ass 😞😡 He still till this day 2023 brings it up. 😂😂😂😂
Thank you for providing this excellent footage.

Old crt. Not oled eyesore

Ngl, a lot of these games looked super fun.
Awesome walk down memory lane!❤
I had an intellivision when I was 12.
I was 5 when we got ours… my first console.
Is it possible to play Intellivision, this days?. Very interesting to atleast buy one, just nice to have in the collection, just because it is a part of the history of gaming.
🙂Yes, there are many different ways to play the games. You can easily find converters and hook-ups for the newer TV's.
My first video game I simply loved this as a kid
It was the video game console of my childhood in Mexico. Love it.
The game Sea Battle was my favorite game, I was World Champion of it and retired undefeated. If I still had my Intellivision and anyone wanted to try their luck, I'd still whoop that ass, lol. I just remember Black Jack and Baseball.
The Intellivision televoice had 5 compatible cartridges, you forgot MLB Baseball⚾️.
The final intellivoice compatible game was The World Series baseball game and that required the ECS keyboard.
Good luck finding the ECS keyboard now lol.
There are also many Homebrew games now utilizing the intellivoice some of which are previously unreleased games.

rumor has it Stephen Hawking uses an Intellivoice synth
I still have this with a bunch of games.
omg I totally forgot about that: Turn to channel 3! Slide the box to Game! good memories
Nightstalker, Burger Time, Astro Smash, Lock and Chase. So many great games. I had this as a kid and it was way more fun than the 2600.
My childhood was so awesome 👌
Lol! Loved the video ending song. Snafu got the best songs of the era...
0:58 I wonder if that's a real TV on the box. It looks very beautiful.
Bump N Jump and Burger Time. My first games
Great content I subbed.
Had one as a kid. Loved it!
The "Xbox" of its generation.
Man I remember my thumb hurting from that dang controller.
Parents got nervous breakdown over the sound effects
lol
Parabéns pelo vídeo! Muito bom...
Great times 👍
Nice video! I never had an Intellivision…ours was an Atari house, lol. It looks like it had Atari beat as far as power goes.
It had the edge in graphics and sound, but many of the games felt somewhat sluggish to play. Don't get me wrong, the Intellivision had some great games, but many action games on the Atari 2600 just felt faster and more responsive.
I was an Atari kid. As much as I liked playing Intellivision with friends (baseball, space battle), the controllers were dog$#!t.
Thanks!
Thanks for watching! Yes, there are RF modulation Adapters available.
I enjoyed the video, thanks
Great video!
gee I am impressed by these games
Your Samsung television is very old-fashioned for when it was made.
How to plug it now in 2024 on 1080p tv? Scart? (with French console)

I got such flashbacks hearing the Snafu theme. I begged my parents not to get rid of this system 😂
Cool video. Subbed
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the sub!
How can i connect it with smart tv LED /LCD
1:16 What is that television?
This was the first video game console I ever had. Believe me it was not the best.
We had Ataris but I was so jealous of my friend who had one of these...because of Advanced D&D.
there was also real sports baseball tat also talked so a total of 5games not 4 but still great vid
Go check out Steve on channel Gamers Nexus if you want the story of how Amico truly ended, what a complete mess.
Great vid dude. Nice work

The Amico. Lol 🤣 The Vaporware scam NFT console led by scamboy Tommy
I don’t care about the intelevision 1 model but i do care about my intelevision 2 model😁
The Amico is still vaporware right?
😊😊😊
Why hasn't a clone console been produced?
How we suffered..
We had this and the Intellivision 2. Horrible controllers.
Adleast it ain’t the Atari Jaguar controller
I like it for some games and some games not so much lol
Esp thumbs and fingers cramps
The Intellivision's control is absolute ASS! Imagine if they just turned it on it's side and gave it face buttons. Would have been a game changer.
