    Thanks for being so thorough, nothing is more frustrating than watching a video only to still struggle because a part was skipped. I’ve watched videos and struggled for the reasons you mentioned at the end of this video. Don’t have that problem with your videos, so, thank you very much. 💪

    Tip for pulling cover off simple no prying. Connect a crank pully puller to the water pump location. *not the claw type*. Use bolts from the timing cover to connect the puller because the water pump cover bolts are to short.

    I’ve found many sealed covers come of easily (w/o prying) by using a heavy hammer and block of wood. Hit firmly on the side. Used this on my LB7 valve covers. Watching more, and don’t think it would work for that TC.
    Also, engine and motor are not interchangeable words. You’re working on an engine.

  • @scottfirman
    @scottfirman 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    There is no reason to remove those acess covers at all. You need only be concerned with the main timing cover. There are worse things to fear farther into this job. For one, the bolt washers on the solenoid case covers. If you drop even one down into the engine, not good. Also, after removing the tensioners, there are little plastic cages and rubbers with screens that fall out . Make sure you have a cover over those areas in the valve train you don't want things to fall into.

    Awesome video, I was wondering why mine was not coming off until you showed the bolts on the bottom coming through the oil pan. The way I got my crankbolt off was wedging a wrench through the crank pulley spokes to the front timing cover (took some doing to find the right spot and angle, and lots of cheater bar leverage and heat from a torch). Hope you are still having fun with your VQ!

    Het mate, I am changing my 350z HR cams for tomei poncams and I had a question. There is a cam position sprocket that is on the back end of each cam, secured with an 8mm allen bolt. The poncams do not come with this so it needs to be switched over from the old cams to the new cams. I can't seem to get it off as the cams wont go into a vice without damage. Do you have any tips for removal or if not, I can't find out what this part is called for purchase. Any idea what it's called?
