So, having over 40 years of DIY experience, let me just suggest that now is an awesome time to make a house notebook. In it record what you did, before and after pictures are good and can help you document pipes, electrical etc., and any notes or quirks along the way. Because trust me, over time you will not remember. Then if you years later go to redo an area, you can refer. Or, if you need to find an electrical line, like in your floor, you'll know. We now do this for inside and out. Also in our last home, we left that book for the new owner and he was so grateful. Just my opinion.
Oh definitely, although I have the benefit of having every single nook, cranny, and work on the house being documented on video, so that's even better!!
Brilliant idea! I was actually thinking, "put a mark on the attic floor where those electrical wires rise from the basement" -- a whole notebook is even better.
It's a fine line between a salvageable project and trash, oft determined by a person's time and skill level. It's a wise person who knows where to draw the line.
"Send me your linens" had my wife perking up, until I reminded her that "small PO box in the USA" probably isn't the most realistic or economic destination for 7+ kilos of terrycloth towels from Germany. They mysteriously stopped working at my MIL's home, and inexplicably recovered after appearing in our no-laundry-softener household during our last few moves and brief episodes in-between washers. Magical towels, these. Personally, I'm terrified to get rid of them in case more appear before we source some decent ones in 1-2 consistent sizes and colors.
Awesome episode! 🎉 The art deco lamp that you have, the piece of glass that the lady holds, was usually a 'fan shaped' piece of stained glass and the lamp globe back lit the glass fan shape. You could have a piece of stained glass made in the colors of your decor to match your aesthetic of your house, or room where you will be displaying the lamp. It's truly gorgeous! Have a fabulous weekend 😁
Lampshades! I barely sew, so when I bought an antique lamp with a tattered orange silk shade, I had to invent a way to recover it (pre-internet). I found Tacky brand glue and used it to tightly wind bias tape around all of the wires in my shade. Let that dry a few weeks. Then I took a paper grocery bag and made a pattern for each of the different shaped panels in my lampshade. I went to the fabric store and bought a bridal fabric in an off white with a subtle pattern that I liked and made panels for each section. Starting at one rib, I Tacky glued a panel to the ribs on all four sides and moved around the lamp, gluing each main panel until I got to the last one. I let it dry a few days before I glued the last panel to the starting side of the first panel. For the round top, I first glued a stiffer fabric to the top and bottom ribs and let it dry. My error was in choosing a less fine weave fabric for this step. Once I glued the bridal fabric over it, and turned on the light, I could see the rougher weave coming through underneath the bridal fabric. Lastly, I glued a row of rickrack over each rib, and a fringe on the bottom. I got many compliments on it over the years. Considering the sewing skills I did not possess to do a fine fabric shade, I found this method to be a fast and easy alternative. It is still intact, 32 years later. I saved at least $100 over buying a new shade.
Enjoy yourself, Shannon! I am an old lady now, with PLENTY of stuff, but I do remember being young and poor and stalking thrift stores and used places for stuff I needed. LOTS more fun than shopping in a "normal" store. Enjoyed vicarious exploring and planning with you.
My husband remembers several houses in New England that vented the basement to the attic, like yours. The quilting project looks great! It's fun to see what else you and Phil are up to besides the reno. I certainly don't mind seeing the crafty side of your life as well as the house. It all fits together. Both take ingenuity, creativity, and vision.
Throwing in a YAY for finally getting footage from above of Phil spinning the fluff in that trash can! That scratched a mental itch for me - loved how the dust swirled... 😅❤
I found the lamp! Yours is either a recast from the 1970s and vintage in its own right, or an original casting from the Frankart-Nuart molds made in the 1930’s. It’s titled Winged Victory, and originally had a leaded stained glass fan as the shade. 2:50
If the lamp is similar to the one I vaguely remember from childhood, the glass was a frosted light greenish color like that glass they make with recycled bottles that’s almost clear but has a greenish cast. The one I remember was cut in a rounded pie wedge shape so it spread out above the lady like she was holding a giant fan 🪭
When my Pom started itching and chewing his paws, I gave him fish oil and it helped tremendously. We also changed his food to non-chicken proteins, as many dogs have an allergy. After a while we could give dehydrated chicken breast for snacks and he was ok. LOVED that lampshade frame with the very wide flare at the bottom and smaller flare on the top🥰🥰
I’ll have you know that the attic looked great even before you started explaining about all you had done!! Your too close to the project to realize how great it looks. It’s all looking so much better. I admit to wondering what was wrong with the chair but figured you had a good reason to send it out. And you did! Also better thinking cause I would have kept it just on the grounds it was fixable and attic! I have to keep things trip over them move them and age them before I get to the “will I ever fix this” thought! I blame my grandparents who all where depression era! You really never know when something will be serendipitous! I spend a lot of time in thrift stores smacking my hand while muttering “no you can’t get it”.
Ooooohhhh, I am lusting after that sewing box! They are quite expensive now and for good reason since they hold a lot of stuff, keep things organized and easily at hand as well as being sturdy. Looks like it will be just minor reattachments, maybe a going over with oil and then it will be good to go. I'm nicely organized now but would still make room for one of those if it crossed my path 🙂
I 've screwed wooden finials into the ends of a wooden dowel and painted it to use as a curtain rod. I used 3 in my formal living room. Love the art deco lamp.
I have a vintage sewing box. Even though I have a huge sewing/craft room, mine holds all my knitting and crotchet needles and gages that I am not currently using. And it functions as a small side table in my living room. The slim design works well in my living room.
“Would you like a sewing box?” “No thanks.” “It’s broken.” “I’ll take it!” I’m also weirdly drawn to things not in pristine shape haha. Awesome haul! From what you showed of their home it must have been a blast to explore!
You might consider using Lucite rather than glass. It can be easily cut to shape and polished to a smooth finish. It's also safer, and comes in many colors to match your decor.
Yes! I was going to say the same.My great aunt had a very similar lamp and the shade was a stained glass fan. Gorgeous colors and patterns on the walls at night, seemed like magic. 8 year old me was mesmerized.
I think it would be wonderful to name your hexagonal quilt a friendship quilt, as scrape material came from many viewers. What a treasure trove of art supplies. What a blessing.
You are my soul sister! Your comment "just what I didn't need" "well sign me right up because I don't have enough... What's one more?" could have come right out of my life 😂. You are officially in the club and working on one of many PHDs. 😮 Projects Half Done!
HAHAHA yes! At least, often, once I start a project, I tend to finish it. So it might sit around until the moment where I can dedicate some time and energy, but then once I start, often I see it through to the end (exceptions being long sewing or knitting projects that are so complicated that they take long enough that they bypass the knitting "season" because I only knit in winter)
Or do a collab with DIY Danie, who is not only in Canada, but is also doing her own exploration into stained glass! I would love this, and I'm sure her viewers who don't yet know this channel would love it as well.
I had vintage very water stained lamp shades that I used very pretty cable knit sweaters over and they turned out beautifully. They had a scallop on the bottom so I just cut off the top right below the armpit areas and put them on the shades and hand sewed the top over the edge of the shade. worked like a charm. love the deco lamp, a fan shape would be beautiful.
Shannon, I thought I'd impart some experience in covering shades. Make sure you wrap all parts of metal frame with cotton bias tape otherwise the metal will burn through your fabric. I'm having that problem with some of my shades I didn't do that. Maybe a good rust blocker paint might do the trick. Would be simpler
There is no reason for you to apologize for prioritizing the things you need to do and the items you keep to salvage. The house is a gigantic job and it is amazing how much work you have already done, and with such good cheer! Thinking about the space from the basement to the attic: In the far future, there is a possibility of using that space for a masonry mass heater, which would heat your whole house. Might be un-doable, but an idea to file away.
I have a Girls Own Annual from 1901. It’s been up in the loft for years but I’m feeling tempted to get it down and have a look through it again. It was my grandmas but I think originally it might have been her mother’s.
The art deco lamp should have a fan shaped piece of glass in it. I saw one just like it in an antique store recently. The glass was a frosted rose color with ridges in it to mimic a fan.
What glorious, wide blue skies. My dear departed Mother had a sewing box just like that. She taught me tovsew, Nana taught me to crochet and make hooked rugs, and HER sister taught me to knit. Im passing hand sewing to my 7 yr old granddaughter, ive 'outsourced' crochet to my lovely daughter-in-law, and knitting has been deferred for the time being.
I have a little sewing box just like that one. I found it at a local flea market. Flea markets and second hand stores are like a treasure hunt. So fun!
Hey Shannon, you could modify a gorgeous Chinese rice paper fan for that art deco lady lamp. It’s the first thing that came to mind when I saw that fabulous lamp. I’d love to see what you do with it. Warmest wishes from Australia. 🇦🇺
That shot at 16:50 was so fun! Love that lamp you got from your meet up! I’m picturing frosted, purple or rose colored , fan shaped glass! So great that the two "Dump Bales" worked out!!! Well done. As always, thanks for the fun video and of course the Corgi footage!! I’m a Native Minnesotan, born and raised in the St Paul area and love knowing you have a connection to St Paul.
I feel like the attic already has so many stories for you- the defenestrations, the ongoing game of 'the floor is lava' (with additional danger for authenticity!) the dolls! the headless dolls! the commode chair! if you decide to decorate it I hope you can honour some of that madness :D
I just smile every time you & Phil post something new! Your visit to that woman's craft room was fun, my goodness she had a LOT! Take it from a old lady, tackle projects at most 2-3 at a time. You're a busy bee, but guuurl you have a home to redo! You'll end up with piles of "stuff" 😂. I love the lamp that you bought, and fabric. Hugs, keep up the good work. Yes, be realistic and selective - get rid of stuff that doesn't make you happy❤.
For the art deco lamp, I think I remember seeing them with a fan shape frosted glass. The ones I remember were pretty fancy but simple carved glass with brass edging. Texas Deb ❤️
Loving seeing all the awesome updates! The quilt looks great 👍 Good scores and very cool that they're from a viewer! I love the girl's annual the best, an awesome find. I think the fashion plate you showed on the page with "literature" on the bottom is an example of dresses from the "aesthetic movement", but I'd have to check my dates. I think Abby Cox did a great video on it. A fun thing to dive into!
Wow! I had a set of those Great Artists books. My dad got them for me when I started to show some talent drawing and painting. Also, a couple of the printed fabrics for your quilt look like ones my mom and grandmother used for their sewing projects back in the day.
Your sunglasses look awesome. It's so rare to find sunglasses that look classy and provide good side sun protection, but those look like they do. Also, "Phil the explorer" sounded like "filthy explorer" to me for a moment. Probably both were true by the end of the day! Love to see your reuse, and I feel your pain for the projects that are just too much.
I am excited to see that you kept the spinning wheel those things last forever and you can make so much amazing yarn with them. Plus they are beautiful.
Love the wooden sewing box. Gave one to my mom for Christmas back in 1969 or 1970. After she died my Dad gave it away to a neighbor. So, a little jealous! Love your channel!
What a treat to find your new video as a reward for doing a large grocery shop. Poor Canelle - our cat is so itchy she's licked a bald spot. The sewing box is smart, for containing supplies for a specific craft. PS - I really enjoy your hand gestures - they are so apt and elegant.
It turns out I did occasionally watch your crafting videos and save them in one of my sewing folders on YT (I was looking for something specific in one of those folders when I found the corset hoodie and laughed!). But I became a superfan when you started the house reno! I love the crafting bits, the DIY bits and seeing how you don’t just pass the hard stuff off to Phil! I save these Friday videos for my Saturday coffee so I get teased with the new video ALL DAY FRIDAY!!!! (I’m also thankful you have the longer videos on the other channel for when I’m crafting and need company!)
That's always so funny to go back and realize odd things like that... I have some similar (and yet not at all, if you know what I mean) situations I can think of like that, where the coincidence, looking back, is pretty funny!
"But it needs work." "GIVE IT TO ME!" I saw that one coming. Though to be honest, if it's a sewing box or a trunk, I'd take it even if I didn't need it. But being realistic about your time, skills, energy and motivation (and perhaps also storage space) is important. I'm still working on that. I have entirely too many hobbies but I'm not giving up any of them. But I'm at least pretty good about my kitchen rule, if anything new comes in, something has to go out.
Nice haul - Love the book, cute table. The lamp, I vote round, stained glass. Sewing box, had one just like it, in the 80's. Sold it at a yard sale, bad energy, was from an ex-husband. Progress in the attic is always a good thing .
As an avid crafter. I once wrote a list of all my started projects. With the goal of ticking them off. I lost the list, long before it was ever completed. Could not be bothered writing it again.
Interesting! My cats were scratching and I knew they didn’t have fleas nor mites and I wondered if they feel the dryer air during winter. Thanks for the validation.
Crazy idea! if you look online for stained glass window hangings or sun catcher, you should be able to find one that is thin enough to fit into that art nouveau lamp , AND stained glass is what was probably in there to begin with. Anyway as always ONLY an idea. I believe that is a Finial or topper rather than feet, but no reason you can't use it as feet if you wanted to! Yes Reading Rainbow! my kids loved it and STNG. LOL Confession, I have a collection of lamps (shades stored elsewhere) on one side of my fireplace, that I left there because it looks like weird art to me, rather than my weird collection of lamps. Post Office will hold your packages back if they dont fit in the box, and leave you a note. :) tho yeah probably better to send small things. Love your videos! have a great week! ZenHugs!
For the lamp I would just add a bulb and buy one of those shades that clip onto the bulb. Then you can use it and search in antique malls and stuff for a glass shade. Those wooden "feet" are actually curtain finials. You get a wooden pole and screw them into the ends.
I see an open fan or scallop shape as the piece of glass in the lamp. Diffused for sure - creamy warm white to potentially a yellow/orange tone. Lovely size.
What find, love that table. The material is really pretty. Thanks for the update on your hexi project, can't wait to see it finished, because I love what you have done already. I agree with your thought process of getting rid of the chair and lamp shade, sometimes we have to be realistic. Amazing how good the attic is looking. Such an accomplishment. Have a wonderful week!
If I recall correctly from growing up in Oregon, only postal workers are allowed to put anything in a mail box / PO Box. Couriers are not allowed to deliver to them. I live in Canada now and our small town only has P.O. Box delivery unless you live on a rural route. Couriers make it clear they cannot deliver to P.O. Boxes. I think P.O. Boxes for personal use is not as common, generally speaking, in the US. It took years for me to convince the IRS that they can't send mail to my house. On the flip side, don't get me started on the Amazon debacle when they decided briefly to only ship to mailing addresses meaning lots of Amazon packages got sent back by Canada Post because there were no P.O Box addresses on them.
I believe that UPS or FedEx has to deliver to a central postal hub, not a town post office?... I may be wrong. I have a PO box because my house is too close to the post office for them to deliver my mail, so they issued me a PO box free of charge. Sometimes I will get a package delivered that was UPS, but it was delivered to the post office in another state and then the post office sent it along. Super slow and weird.😂
It would make a very nice little sewing table I've used them many times that the right height. Measuring tapes Harbor Freight used to have them for a buck a piece I have 15 million of them and finally used an Old Spice rack I set some of them inside of it and some can be clipped on the outside that is how I organized all of my measure tapes when they're all connected together.
I cannot believe how tidy she is as a crafter!! My sewing room is like a crows 🪹 nest. And OH to raid someone else’s stash… heaven❤❤❤ please don’t take the plates out of the book which some people do, get some good copies made instead. The book will be more precious as a whole in the long run.
When I was a young girl my brothers bought be that exact same sewing box for Christmas one year. At some point along my life’s journey, it was donated or given away. I regret it to this day. I hope you can fix it and love it for a long long time!
18:13 Lampshade. LOL I looked at that lampshade frame & thought how cool it would look with a plant in the middle. It would be fun as a patio planter. The leaves could vine around on it.
I don't know if all states do this, BUT -- when I had a PO Box in California all I had to do was fill out a form so that I could have FedEx and UPS shipments sent there. You then just use the Post Office's street address as the "to" address with the PO Box # as the Suite/Unit #. I do not recall this costing anything extra. Whatever arrives they will put a key in your letter box and you get your package out of a locker in the lobby.
you said "Vintage sewing box" and i saw it and thought " That's not vintage, i have one of those!" then i thought "Wait when did my MIL give that to me? hmmmm and um. never mind. i got mine in the mid seventies and love and use it. funny that yours is the second video i watched today and the second time one was shown, but not featured in the first. have fun restoring it. 💖
LOL yea, I just meant that they don't really make them any more... like, I don't think you can buy these NEW (and also, that's what LeeAnn had labeled it as)!
The vapor barrier is a great idea - but I'd be concerned about that moisture now building up inside that inssulated cavity and creating wood rot and mold. I dont know how to fix it though....I guess blocking off the basement area feeding to it, but would be interested in what an expert has to share. Wishing you luck!
Blocking off the basement is 100% the way to go, and on the list to be sure! Unfortunately doing that properly and completely requires knocking out the chimney, so... work in progress!
that little lamp you are looking for a suggestion on what shape shade to put on it?? i would go with either a round shade or horseshoe shape shade. one that the edges will meet up with the middle point of the deco sticking out. the largest size i would go with is just past the farthest point on the deco. what would be even more awesome for a shade would be if it was a tiffany style one. you can make one easy. all you have to do is get a clear glass shade then buy the liquid glass and brass and make the colored Tiffney style shade the way you want it to look. it is super easy to do by using a sharpie to draw the pattern first then use the liquid brass and draw the lines in and color them in. good luck! it is a cute piece and would look awesome with tiffney style shade
Shannon I have a Mini of the Sewing box !!! You got from the lovely lady I have had mine for 40 yrs and I use it all the time !! Same color as urs !! You 2 have done great job with the attick !! The universe was looking out for u 2 with Phill finding the 2 bags u needed at the dump !! 😊
That beautiful lamp you got from your viewer would have had a stained glass shade, probably in the shape of a fan, and recovering one of your many lampshades could you do one to match the screen your renovating?, a patchwork shade would look lovely Shannon, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧
An easy way to tell what it is for. If the end is flat it is a foot. If the end is pointed or round it is a finial. Of course nothing stops you from using either for either.
My dad once put feet on some secondhand furniture, after spray painting the wooden cones black. I walked in from work, and found them drying upside down. My legit first thought was, "why does dad have Grinch trees?" Which made me laugh when you held up the wooden legs/toppers.

The art deco lamp would have a fan shaped glass, very art deco geometric shapes.
Yes, a fan shape is immediately what came to mind! For some reason I see it in my head with a jade green shade of glass!
@jaimehoward9506 or even heavily frosted with gold edging....
I initially thought fan-shaped, too, but then I could see the lovely figurine holding an opaque circle to mimic the sun or the moon
Agree, fan shape was my first thought as the shape of the metal held a fan look to it.
@jaimehoward9506 I agree, it is jade green in my head to!

@@sjw.8314 No. He said it was to keep the basement cool for storing food. Hot air rises so they took advantage of that.

Yes! I was going to say the same.My great aunt had a very similar lamp and the shade was a stained glass fan. Gorgeous colors and patterns on the walls at night, seemed like magic. 8 year old me was mesmerized.
I'm dying with antici

🤣🤣🤣🤘
Nice one 😅
Just saw an amazing rendition of it in Edmonton. ❤️

Once you decide on a shape, you should do a stained glass workshop and make your own.
Or do a collab with DIY Danie, who is not only in Canada, but is also doing her own exploration into stained glass! I would love this, and I'm sure her viewers who don't yet know this channel would love it as well.
@@TiffMarche oooh...could you imagine the banter between those two? They both such creative and engaging people!
@@Sandrocas Right?!? It would be so fun to watch!
@@TiffMarcheYES!
Totally, I always see @aceofshades doing that!
The wooden pieces look like curtain rod finials
I think a oyster shaped glass frosted would look lovely for that pretty little lamp! 💗 It reminds me of an image of Aphrodite I seen!
Great idea!!
In the book when you are looking for the date, the plate says Shanklin, which is in the Isle of Wight off the coast of England.😊
that's a great idea! even as a placeholder till glass can be found
That shot at 16:50 was so fun!
I love the quilt. It's beautiful. And the white table, heck I would leave as is and put a spread on top of it. It's pretty.
That lamp is gorgeous and worth the trip alone for the stained glass project potential!
Totally!!
I feel like the attic already has so many stories for you- the defenestrations, the ongoing game of 'the floor is lava' (with additional danger for authenticity!) the dolls! the headless dolls! the commode chair!
if you decide to decorate it I hope you can honour some of that madness :D
Truly though, it's the gift that keeps on giving!!
@@ShannonMakes maybe not gifts that you want right now, but still, it's the thought that counts? 😂
I appreciate your explanation of the lampshade. I agree, you just have to make a decision on what to throw away.
You're very welcome, glad you understand! 🫶
@@ShannonMakesDon’t worry, someone else will see the lampshade frame at the dump and say “ooh, just what I was looking for”.
After finding you a week or so ago, I’ve been on a Shannon/Phil marathon 24/7. This is my first video to see an hour after posting! So excited!
Oh, so fun!! Welcome aboard, Nancy! 🎉
Welcome Nancy! Shannon is my favorite you tuber! I know you'll enjoy her as well. ❤
Loving the lamp. Circle opaque white glass would look beautiful
They look like curtain rod finials not feet 😊
Great finds ❤😊
I thought the same thing about the chair & lampshade frame but … just like Phil’s find at the dump maybe your trash will be someone else’s treasures 😊
Paying it forward 🎉
LOL! Mmmmmmmm? Crafting? that broken pottery will come in so handy! YOu are so much fun!
Thank you!!
For the art deco lamp, I think I remember seeing them with a fan shape frosted glass. The ones I remember were pretty fancy but simple carved glass with brass edging. Texas Deb ❤️
Interesting!
Plus they are beautiful.
oh, of course! I'd never throw that out!
PS - I really enjoy your hand gestures - they are so apt and elegant.
oh noooo, poor kitty 😿 I hope you can get it under control! Fortunately Cannelle isn't that bad 💜
GIRL!!!!! I would have had to hire a U-Haul for the day! She had so many lovely things!!! 💖💖💖
What can I say, I'm known for my restraint 🤣
I so am here for the crafting, I am here for whatever you do, everything is possible with you two xx
"But it needs work."
"GIVE IT TO ME!"
I saw that one coming.
3:20 a fan-shaped piece of glass
That's exactly what I was going to say ❤
Nice haul - Love the book, cute table. The lamp, I vote round, stained glass. Sewing box, had one just like it, in the 80's. Sold it at a yard sale, bad energy, was from an ex-husband.
Progress in the attic is always a good thing
.
Shannon, you rock at putting out the funnest, most interesting videos. Love watching them.
aww, why thank you! I love & appreciate that 🥰🥰🥰
The slow motion shot is perfection chefs kiss!
To make any electrical work easier in the future, you should mark where the wires come up and which direction they go.
Fortunately I have lots of it on camera!
I think a rippled fan shaped piece of glass would look awesome in the lamp.
that sewing box would work for knitting and crochet supplies.
Definitely!!
No need for catchy titles like that, we tune in every week anyway 😊
You might... the analytics show that not everyone does. They're not clickbait, they're just intriguing, so I shall keep doing them as desired 🥰🥰
ah yes, I forgot that the algorithm is a cruel mistress 🥲
Analytics appears to be an arcane art that mere mortals cannot expect to comprehend.
Crazy idea! if you look online for stained glass window hangings or sun catcher, you should be able to find one that is thin enough to fit into that art nouveau lamp , AND stained glass is what was probably in there to begin with.
Great you have a temporary P.O. Box. Guess what. Canada Post is on strike just in time.
I’ve seen little lamps like that with a fan shaped cut glass on the front. The cut part was done in an art deco style. It was lovely.🤗❤️🐝
So cool!
Interesting insight into the reason why FedEx and UPS don't/can't deliver to P.O. boxes, thank you!
Thank you so much for this tip, I will absolutely look into it!! 🙏🙏
I’m here for EVERYTHING! Sewing, crafting, renovations and all that you do!! ❤❤❤
Thank you 🤗
Love everything you do always. Crafting, house renos, etc. Just here to watch you be you!
Aww, thank you! I really appreciate that!
you said "Vintage sewing box" and i saw it and thought " That's not vintage, i have one of those!" then i thought "Wait when did my MIL give that to me? hmmmm and um. never mind. i got mine in the mid seventies and love and use it. funny that yours is the second video i watched today and the second time one was shown, but not featured in the first. have fun restoring it. 💖
LOL yea, I just meant that they don't really make them any more... like, I don't think you can buy these NEW (and also, that's what LeeAnn had labeled it as)!
Oh I have vintage fold out sewing box envy. And yours is on legs too what a bonus.
I think the two carved wooden objects with the screws are decorative curtain rod finials, not feet.
What a great haul!!! That library of artist's books would have put me in heaven!
I had one of the sewing storage you got. I enjoyed it for a long time. After you fix it I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
I hope so too!
I think the wood "legs" are actually curtain finials. I have a sewing basket like that. Hinges are attached.
Love the old sewing box, my Scandinavian great grandma had one that was beautiful and very well used.
I love that!
My dad once put feet on some secondhand furniture, after spray painting the wooden cones black. I walked in from work, and found them drying upside down. My legit first thought was, "why does dad have Grinch trees?" Which made me laugh when you held up the wooden legs/toppers.
🤣🤣🤣
