Did you start at the national park? I wanted to book tickets for my trip but the website confuses me. how much did you pay for the gondola? is it free without gondola?

Yes, hiking Table Mountain is free! You can park your car and just hike up, there are several trails. A one way ticket with the gondola is 11 euro / 12 dollar.
