Amazing views. Being fully pedantic, it's not the percentage of oxygen that falls (it's still 21% of the air molecules you breathe in) but because there is lower air pressure (fewer molecules of air for the same volume), the partial pressure of oxygen drops. It's a bit techie and pedantic, but as a former scuba diver it's a subject close to my heart 😂 I said before that you struggle to keep up with Carol... and this is concrete proof!
Well there you go. TH-cam can be educational as well as entertainment. I'll pin this comment as its also an interesting fact. I struggled to keep up with Carol. She is younger you know, and I am 60 this year. 😬
@Banditmanuk Thanks for taking us along and thanks for the memories! It's nigh on 40 years since I last went up there. I was on a coach trip with Thomson's. A couple off our coach tried to walk it, they never made it back in time, and we drove off without them 😲
@@BanditmanukYou could walk right to the top back then (without extra charge) We didn't make it as we were conscious of the time, and it was heavy going (like walking up a steep sand dune) Not sure if you could smell it where you got to, but there was a strong smell of 'bad eggs' further up the mountain. It was a lot cheaper back then too. 😄
A lot fitter or preferably a lot younger! Twice I've been to the same place you parked the bikes. First time the cable car was having maintenance and the second time, the wind became too strong. Well done you two for getting as far as you did.
I can actually influence the former, but sadly, not the latter. We've been in previous years, and it's not been running, so we thought we may never do it again, so we coughed up the money for the tickets.
You two are amazing! 😀😀Thank you for sharing your hiking experience on an active volcano, very very brave! O2 please. Awesome bucket list type trips you are doing together. So inspiring, planning a motorcycle trek at Absaroka, Beartooth, Granite Mtns. (3,658 meters) glacier formed ranges near Yellowstone (supposedly non active super volcano). Cheers to ya'll, Eric NC, U.S.A.😀😀
Hello USA and hi Eric. We've just come to the realisation that at our age, we've got to start doing our bucket list trips while still able. Yellowstone sounds amazing. Keep doing what you're doing, life is there to enjoy. Thanks for the great comments
What a view to have with a cuppa and a bite to eat ☺️ Can’t believe you got a cable car, should have started the walk from the bottom 😉😂 To be fair it’s a beautiful view but it also looks like such a lovely walk ☺️ Fair play, 13% oxygen is no laughing matter, you both did well 💪 Lovely video, hope you’re both well
Hi you two.. bloody ekk. Not wheelchair friendly.:)) nor is it ordinary walking folk friendly.. I noticed there were no dragons or dinosaurs ( that's birds ) either. WOOOOWWWSERRRS DONE 🤓💯❤🩹🤳🤳🤳
It was more challenging than we expected. We chatted to another couple in the base station cafe. They had driven up from the coast like us, the husband walked from the car to the cafe and couldn't get his breath (he was even more overweight than me) Don't think they went up in the end.
Its like you say YT can be right educational. I would definitely be cautious of this adventure because of your vlog. I am old as dirt now . But respect to you and carol :)) I am just uploading my wee crazy B869 Drumbeg loop from my Nc500. I have placed a warning on the screen about how caution is needed on this avoidable section, just because of your warning here about oxygen at altitude. 🤓❤🩹🙏🤳💯@@Banditmanuk
Well done Richard, I'll bet that set your ticker racing, well done to Carol too for setting the pace. The views certainly were spectacular although a bit barren, all that lava would make me nervous incase it erupted again 😰. The Scotsman in me baulked at the £40 ticket price, not so long ago you could fly to Europe for half of that 😊 I was out today on the KTM hunting for some snow and managed to capture the snow capped mountains 🏞️ 🏔️ 😬😊
Believe me, this Englishman wasn't keen on the ticket prices. We called by the cafe earlier in the holiday and thought no, but on our last day, we thought we might never get the chance again. It wasn't long ago that a neighbouring island La Palma erupted, so I guess it could happen at some point. We're looking forward to getting out on our bikes again. Weather is slowly improving here. You have some amazing riding on your doorstep, hope the weather comes good so you can enjoy it. Appreciate you watching and best wishes 🙏
I see that you were both quite exhausted when you reached the top. I think it is well worth visiting the place there. The views were very nice. The 43 EUR was the return ticket per person. I think I saw that.
Yes, it's not cheap to ride the cable car but probably worth it. All the previous times we've called the cable car wasn't running due to poor weather or wind.
You two were puffing as much as I do when I get out of my chair to go make a coffee! 😂 Very surprising though isn't it, the effort to get that air into your lungs up there. Nice videos again guys, loved em, thank you and stay safe
This was filmed 2nd Feb. We stopped in Los Gigantes on our last motorcycle fly/ ride. Hope the weather is still as good for you on a motorcycle today. (I'm probably not fit enough to have done the cycle ride)
Sitting here watching the rain lash against the windows, it is a treat to watch your lovely video. Brings back great memories of walking to the top 20 years ago with two of my teenage children. As you say, it certainly makes breathing tough. Dont think I would fancy it now! Also enjoyed your bike trip to the north. Such a difference to the south. We walked in a forest up there, with lichen a foot long. You were lucky not to have mist! Thanks guys.
We were blessed with perfect weather for the whole 7 days in Tenerife. Low winds and 25C. The contrast between the lush, almost tropical north and baron south is amazing. Thanks for the kind words. Cheers
The wooow was the amount the cable swung as it crossed the pylons. The incredible stability of the DJI camera hid it 😉 I'm glad we did it, and it was an amazing sight

🤣🤣🤣 I'm not surprised they didn't make the bus in time! We did consider walking down (but only for a nanosecond)

Ooh I forgot to say how beautiful that Triumph is love the colour scheme 😊😊
Fabulous machine 😊😊😊😊

Yep @easyridertenerife have some brilliant modern classics that they hire out. The Triumph was gorgeous
This planet is amazing, what a place. Hard work getting there though!
Yep, we thought it was a bit special and worth the cable car ticket price

Have to watch the others 😊😎😎

Cheers Phil. We were blessed with perfect weather. It was nice to combine a holiday and a couple of days riding motorcycles
Wow!! What a fantastic view! Well worth the cable car ride! Interesting face above the air or the lack of it! Keep up the good work!
😆 was really interesting with fabulous views but I must work on my weight & fitness.

TommyG had some altitude sickness on Pikes Peak...we had to rest and eat the special donuts they made at the top!
I'm liking the sound of the special donuts 🍩 😋
Big temp difference!

Love the oohs as the car crosses the pylons, looks like a trip to the moon, the air is pretty thin at that altitude, I’d struggle👍
🤣🤣 yes, the ooos and arrs did make us smile. It certainly made me (Richard) realise how unfit I was.

Honestly, I was a little shocked. I know I'm a fat fifty something, but up there, I felt geriatric.
Thanks for watching, cheers and take care
I admire you guys waking up that altitude. Some great views...thanks!
It wasn't that much further to the top but I was definitely struggling with the altitude. Must loose weight
I cycled up to the cable car from Los Gigantes. I could feel the lack of oxygen there. When was this? I'm off to do canary moto today.
