    Thanks for the review, Josh. A competitor in our ARA competitions, in central Texas, shoots one of these in factory class. I've seen him win multiple matches along with perfect 2500 scores. Pretty amazing.

      I witnessed a fellow at our club shoot 4 - 2500s in a row with his Tikka T1X. I really like mine, unreal a 500.00 rifle shoots this well.

    Glad you had a similar experience to me. Trigger is amazing, bolt manipulation is *fast*, and she will shoot tiny groups with the right ammo or tuner settings. I switched to the vertical grip and strapped on a cheek riser and used an Area 419 rail, the rest is factory. I won 4 NRL22 base class matches in a row in 2019 with mine. Now it's been handed down to my son in a KRG Bravo and he loves it. My only issue was mag feeding where rounds would stand straight up vertically if I ran the bolt too fast. If I could find a lefty model I'd buy another one!

    Great vid. I've had the T1X for about two summers now. I live in an area of ground squirrels by the millions and that is what this gun is set up for. It has a DIP base and Burris rings; the scope is the Burris 4.5-14x42. It has been sighted in with American Eagle red box hollow point ammo and they work very well on varmints. I haven't seen American Eagle hp ammo on the shelves for a while, but I have about ten thousand rounds of it left. It groups very well and I can hit the varmints at 120 yards fairly easily with this set up. I agree with all of your points. The trigger is sweet and the bolt throw is a bit stiffer than most, but doesn't bother me or my granddaughter. If this were to become a competition rifle, you would be correct that the stock is not made for that purpose. I like how the stock sits on fence posts or the hood of my truck though. I still have an old CZ 455 set up for varmint as well and I would say that the overall fit and finish of an off the shelf Tikka is comparable to an off the shelf CZ. Each has their plusses and minuses. The Bergara B14R that I have is what I am working on getting set up for target shooting.

    I recently picked up a T1x Gen 2 (new ejector style). After a few range sessions I like (not love) the rifle. Inconsistent groups with different ammo types. Every 5 to 10 rounds I get flyers that I can't explain. I have removed the barrel support "block" with no apparent changes. Torqued at 35 inch pounds, trigger down to 1 1/2 pounds. Best results so far are with SK Magazine. The Tikka also cocks the action when you lift the bolt which throws the gun off target and you have to reposition the rifle for the next shot. I had fairly high expectations after all the positives reviews on YT. I already have a 457 that shoots amazing. If I had to choose......CZ any day.

    Can`t wait to see your review on the Arken EP-5. I bought one, and the glass washed out past 20X. Not to mention everything else that was wrong with it. I was very disappointed with the EP-5. My EP-5 got shipped back for a full refund. Went back to using my Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25X56. My V-SE glass is still crystal clear at 25X, the EP-5, was not. Hope you have better luck with yours.

    I like the stocks on the T1X, friend of mine upgraded to a KRG, the rifle performed just like it did with the factory stock, no improvement. Good job on the video Josh, your channel is my favorite on here.

    Yes, it's a polymer (plastic) stock, but I have no issues at all with the magazines, then again I use gloves whenever I shoot, the bolt is as smooth as butter in opening and closing.
    I bought my rifle when first they came into the Canadian market 2 or 3 years ago, I don't know if the issues that were as stated in this video manifested themselves in later models but
    I find that the T1x that I have shoots with great accuracy and is very smooth in all facets of it's operation. ( Smoother that is, than my CZ 455 rifles )

    I love mine. I replaced stock next day after purchase 😁. I put it to KRG chassis, changed trigger spring (YoDave, around 1lb) and installed EC tuner. Best group was 0.5” at 100 yards with Lapua CenterX. But average groups little bit less than 1” at 100 yards. And I had a chance to shoot it up to 400 yards
    Thank you for video!

    My Tikka is the second most accurate .22 I have owned, and that means more than fifty. Out of the box it shot 50 yard sub .20 groups with SK Rifle Match. It likes any ammo I have fed it. The bolt is great and the lift is quite smooth and easy. Maybe you got a citrus flavor in yours, but mine is a definite keeper.

    Another good video Josh, the factory stock isnt that bad if you add the vertical grip and buttpad, I removed the barrel spacer and torque to 20 in lb F&R, I have my own custom trigger springs and also add a sear adjustment to mine, trigger pull is 12oz. Mine likes Lapua Midas + best, I have at times got 5 - 5shot group averages under .3 at 50 yds. Amazing rifles for their price point.

  • @nismo8319
    @nismo8319 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Your experience is slightly different than mine. I have had one of these for quite a while now. Hasn't been too picky with ammo. It likes Elly semi auto and Norma TAC22 the best but, for budget ammo it likes Federal auto match bulk ammo. I agree the stock is terrible. However, I did not have accuracy issues with that little plastic piece installed. It shot the same with or without it. I tried it both ways. I added a vertical grip and the rubber butt pad. Shortly after that I bought a KRG bravo. Now GRS offers a reasonably priced stock for it, wish they offered one when I was looking. I also have a 20MOA rail on mine with the Arken SH4 mounted on top. The factory trigger was good but, I like a two-stage trigger, so I installed the Timney T3 trigger in mine. Very happy with the rifle overall. Oh, and yes, those magazines do have very sharp points. When loading they really dig into your thumb.

    • @lordbaboon1110
      @lordbaboon1110 ปีที่แล้ว

      That edge can scratch the bullets when loading so file it down,or you could loose accuracy. I had to do it on both mine. (The one at front)

  • @fn3048
    @fn3048 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Opening footage shows that action is not seated correctly in the stock - its a bit fiddly getting the stock on properly. This will account for a few of the issues. You can see the front "claw" of the action sitting too high and the barrel jutting up, indicating the action isn't seated into the recoil block.

    • @fn3048
      @fn3048 ปีที่แล้ว

      For my T1x, I swapped out the stock for a walnut T3 stock (minimal fitting adjustment required), replaced all the plastic possible - bolt shroud and triggerguard - with aluminium ones, replaced the firing pin with a titanium one, and use the 5 round Tikka mag (which functions flawlessly). Muzzle thread protector replaced with a stainless one. Mine is the 2nd variant ejector, so no wire any more and seems faultless.
      ALL T3 stocks will fit, with sometimes only very minor fitting. The barrel "shoe horn" won't fit any of the T3 stocks either, so leave it out. The Roughtec orange or green are VERY nice, but again, I prefer the walnut. Having shot mine side by side against a KRG chassis version, there was NIL difference in group size between us. Tikka stocks are so well inlet.

    @brucethecurmudgeon8538 ปีที่แล้ว

    I shot a borrowed one in a quarter match on a Friday night and went and bought one the very next day. Stock wise it "seems" okay to me it is the magazines I do not like. Tikka sent me two new ones after I had problems with the one that came with the rifle. I avoid loading more than seven or eight into the magazine due to the pressure on the side of the bullets loading them getting more than that into the mag requires too much side pressure on the bullet. A bent bullet does not help accuracy. I have a 8X32 Muller scope on mine and win a lot of quarters with this set up. I did buy a Jared trigger for it and as you noted the factory trigger is actually just fine.

    I have used a T1x for a few years and it shoots great. I have mine in an MDT ACC and it is a sweet combo. A very nice and easy upgrade is to change out the trigger spring for a lighter one, the trigger is great but that makes for a world of difference! • @takedeadaim8671
    @takedeadaim8671 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think in the quest of keeping the basic class price point down the organizations have not used the max rifle/scope amount and while I can see doing so makes the entry point obtainable for about anyone. Realistically though if you look at the cost of living increase and supply of these rifles what it has caused is these plastic, not composite which is two or more distinctly different materials, stocks. At best you get some 30% glass fiber but they are so flimsy there is no way they hold the action so it’s not sliding around. If you torque the bolt down you either deform the stock or just pull the screw head into the plastic.
    I waited weeks for a laminated wood CZ only to find it had been inlet with a broken cutter and the action just slid around in the stock. It just would not shoot and I spent $$ buying different ammo, different lots but could not get consistency especially at 100yds and beyond.
    I think they need to either up the amount or allow stock changes.

    Mine shoots on par or a tad better on average than with certain ammo's over my 452's and 455. I like the lightweight short lop stock. Its lite and i dont care if it gets scratched up. Also like the light/med profile barrel. It does have a better trigger than my cz's too. That being said i get a few failure to ejects out of a box with cci standard velocity and that drives me nuts. I wish cz would do a short lop plastic stock with 16" lite/medium profile barrel. Basically a scout with a polymer stock. I love my kids c452 scouts.

    Josh-Great review. A couple of observations from a T1x shooter- for base class, add a Tikka accessory vertical grip, beaver tail forend and Victor Co cheek riser. Those 3 pieces make all the difference in saying Base Class compliant. Shootability much improved. I got my T1x before the CZ 457 released so I like it better than the 455 but would go 457 if doing it all over again just due to aftermarket component availability.

    Your review doesn't do any justice for the T1X and look forward to see what you do - of course it will be miraculously better. You never intended keeping the stock as who does? Ammo choice not ideal. SK would be preferable and if eley then match or contact are best. Mountain Tactical make a good rail for it and doesn't cost a lot. Sterk bolt handle is a nice upgrade.

    It's such a shame they won't produce this rifle in a better stock. I think it could be competitive in ARA if it had a better stock and I would give one a go if that option was available. Unfortunately in that stock it will never win a national title in my opinion. #Tikka come on guys, give us a better stock

    • @Kesssuli
      @Kesssuli ปีที่แล้ว

      Bit late from conversation but day this comment was released there was factory option
      t1x upr and least for now t1x hunter. But those options really crank up price higher what
      most people are not willing to pay.
      Yes factory stock is overally bad. It is made as cheapest possible because those rifles are
      made in Finland which is very expensive place to produce very much anything.
      Stock was only place to cut price to stay competive against much cheaper
      manufacturers in global market because average Joe is not gonna spend prenium
      for rimfire rifle.

    I recently got the T1X. Other than the factory stock being a bit short for me I do like the rifle. I am looking at the GRS Bifrost stock. Is that something you have used before on another rifle or even considering for this build? I would be interested in any feedback on that stock. I look forward to the follow up videos.

    hi,thanks for this review and love your channel :)
    i bought a Tikka T1x and i would like your input on something,
    for now i only have access to 12 yards(50+ yards next week)so when i received it i started zeroing the scope(cheap scope vector optic hugo 6-24x50gt,gonna buy a Arken in a few months)and the zeroing at 12 yards went smooth,obviously,but where it's getting weird it's the grouping(i shoot indoor with RWS Z Lang)at magnification 6x the grouping spread like 1" on a 5 shot group,but at magnification 10x or max i have only 1 hole for 5 shots(but with flyers from time to time),why?it's only 12 yards
    where is the issue?bad scope,ammo or because the rifle is brand new?
    i admit i haven't tested any other ammo as i'm indoor so i need to stay quiet.
    thanks for any helps.

    • @PursuitofAccuracy
      @PursuitofAccuracy  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Could be a scope issue or the base. Ar 12 yards it should be 1 .22 hole

      @@PursuitofAccuracy but the thing that is also weird it's that when i mount the same scope,base/collar on my pcp rifle .22cal 14 ft-lb with fx airgun pellets 16 grains i indeed have 1 .22 hole.
      where is the difference?

  • @macclark4112

    I will be giving my $650.00 to order Tikka T1X 20" barrel tomorrow.
    Additionally: it finally arrived in my hands, Tikka T1x. More than a year ago+ I started watching reviews of it; I looked at Bergara B14R cost $ 1000 and Christensen Ranger 22 cost $832, but Tikka T1X cost $649. My inspection found nothing wrong even the stock is ok, and the magazines are solid (5). No competition for me; it is for FUN! Bolt Action 22LR #2. So I installed Vortex PST 5-25x; I bought it 18 months ago.
    Josh your bias is showing; CZ fan guy!?
