Iirc police are trained to NOT try to go for the arms or legs and that's for two reasons: 1. They're much harder to hit accurately 2. In the movie the kid couldn't speak because they had a run in with the cultists before. His wife and other kid was killed by them. That's why they're so privy to that cult.

Not only are arms or legs hard enough to hit, but add cortisol and your aim becomes about 10x less accurate due to wobble. It’s why police always aim center mass. Less risk of hitting a bystander and more stopping power against your target.

One thing I’ve learned from movies like this… if something CRAZY is going on and you don’t want people to think you’re insane or drugged up for reacting to it (man who spazzes when he sees the doctor) be calm about it. You see other people so either they’re working together in which case you cant do anything or they’re not working together so you can say “listen I’m of sound mind and I’m on no drugs” and then explain what’s going on. Best chance of getting genuine help in my opinion
As an American, one thing I know about guns is that if you’ve pulled your weapon, you do NOT shoot to injure-you shoot to kill. You shoot for center mass. I watched this movie and unless I missed it, why did they not call on the phone for help? Why did they not radio for backup on the walkie talkies on the cop's shoulder? Why did no one just get to the car and drive away to get help, when the car was right near the entrance of the hospital?

To do anything other than this is violation of basic gun safety.
