25:00 This is one of the rare cases where i actually think the way the story's protagonist handled the fight at the end is actually better than How to Beat's plan. Evie set a fire, seriously injured Walter but didn't kill him and then escaped. This resulted in many of the participants fleeing the wedding and only a few actually staying on the task of trying to keep her prisoner. Because of the power Evie still has she is able to outrun any human cult member that did think to stay on the task of keeping her prisoner, survive the first vampire's assault until they start fighting and kill eachother off and is also probably the only reason she is able to beat the butler who gets the jump on her with a spear. After all the other threats are dealt with she kills Dracula which makes her lose her powers as well. If she had taken Dracula's power and then immediately killed him she would have lost her powers while she's still stuck in the back of the church with an entire potentially pissed off cult after she just killed their leader. Also the cane plan hinges on every vampire in the room somehow reacting slower than a fresh turned vampire who has no experience using her powers.
Fr also why didnt the lord just drink one of his cult members blood to get his power back hes been alive for thousands of years and yet hes still dumb enough to position himself infront of a fire while the person who is currently trying to kill him is right infront of him

I once had a friend who was from a very wealthy family, and lived in a big house that was set up for servants to come and go unseen. Of course, the servants were long gone, and they converted what was once the servant's quarters into guest bedrooms, game rooms etc. These were not the type of people who wanted servants. They were just wealthy enough to own such a huge old house. Trust me, they knew where all the old servant passages were. They used them as shortcuts around the house. Anyone owning a house like that would know exactly where the servant passages were, whether or not they actually had servants. They had a maid who would do the housekeeping, but she was a family friend and was well paid. They absolutely would not have wanted people waiting on them hand and foot and out of sight like the house was designed for lol

I just realized why the older lady said the lady of the house passed away recently, because they are vampires and even though the lady died around 80 years ago, it is still recent to them considering that they are upwards of over 1000 years old. I didn't understand when I first saw it in theaters but it's easy to miss if you don't know that they are vampires off the bat

Watching this makes me want to see a movie with a similar situation, but the protag. believes they are in a horror movie, trying to escape, killing the family, only for them to be 100% her family with no malicious intent. It ends with her driving away in the back of a cop car, looking back at the manor realizing she just killed her family due to paranoia.
Yeah like I'd at the very least like to know the other wives to be sure I'd get along with them (preferably even have a relationship with them myself too because why not, women are awesome), nothing worse than having family members you don't get along with and having to live with them forever :D

i saw this movie in theatre’s with my friend and we were a little disappointed that it was about vampires bc the monster in the library made us think it was like an actual scary monster 😭
"Stakes, beheading, and fire are all weaknesses in classic vampire mythology." Every time I hear something like that, I immediately think, "Yeah, that tends to be the case for most everything. It's the ones where those aren't weaknesses that you need to worry about."
The biggest issue with this movie is that we did not feel the betrayal the way the character was supposed to feel it. We should have seen more of the connection to her mother and the effect of her passing. We should have felt more of the relief she had in finding a relative. We should have felt her desire for family even though she has a BFF who acts like a sister. We should have seen more seduction between her and the antagonist. And we should have seen her falling in Love, not falling in bed. This would have made the betrayal reverberate and add to the horror. I personally don't think they should have made him Dracula but rather the son of Dracula. That would have left room for a part two of him running to his father for help and somehow creating an all-out war. Because she becomes a huntress. I still would have liked them to fall in love in the end though but with a number of casualties involved.
I agree with most of what you say, except the last couple of sentences. That would have been a completely different movie, and it definitely does not need a sequel.
I’ll be honest, when I learn they’re vampires and they want to make me another bride I would weigh my options first and would tell them to give me a year to think on it.

ngl... I'd probably be interested in becoming a vampire. My one (technically two-part) question would be, "do you know whether souls exist, and if they do, what would becoming a vampire do my soul?" If the answer is they don't have proof of the existence or impact on a soul, or if the soul gets kicked out or in some other way is not directly impacted by the change... bring on the bloodsucking (I'll pull a Marius-vigilantism method of feeding if my soul stays/doesn't exist and I don't go insane). If it guarantees damnation cause there actually are souls and hell is real... then yikes, on so many levels.

i went to see this movie with some friends expecting it to have a lot of horror and be scary but was disappointed that it had more romance than horror and we were all disappointed still an okay movie we gave it a 4 out of 10

i saw this movie in theatre’s with my friend and we were a little disappointed that it was about vampires bc the monster in the library made us think it was like an actual scary monster 😭

when i watched this movie, all i kept asking myself was “what’s wrong w just accepting the new power?”
I knew these DNA kits were sketchy, but damn!
Trusting rich people she have just met: this was her biggest mistake.
The biggest issue with this movie is that we did not feel the betrayal the way the character was supposed to feel it. We should have seen more of the connection to her mother and the effect of her passing. We should have felt more of the relief she had in finding a relative. We should have felt her desire for family even though she has a BFF who acts like a sister. We should have seen more seduction between her and the antagonist. And we should have seen her falling in Love, not falling in bed. This would have made the betrayal reverberate and add to the horror. I personally don't think they should have made him Dracula but rather the son of Dracula. That would have left room for a part two of him running to his father for help and somehow creating an all-out war. Because she becomes a huntress. I still would have liked them to fall in love in the end though but with a number of casualties involved.
I agree with most of what you say, except the last couple of sentences. That would have been a completely different movie, and it definitely does not need a sequel.
He IS Dracula. Dracula in Romanian means Son of the dragon.

they shouldve done it slower to make her accept by gaslighting, manipulating her first. they were too eager and quick with everything that their hole plan fell apart.
I like that they called them strigoi, it's not that big of a deal just cool that they referenced what they are actually called in Romanian mythology. ( I know this is poorly worded I'm not the greatest when it comes to english).

ngl... I'd probably be interested in becoming a vampire. My one (technically two-part) question would be, "do you know whether souls exist, and if they do, what would becoming a vampire do my soul?" If the answer is they don't have proof of the existence or impact on a soul, or if the soul gets kicked out or in some other way is not directly impacted by the change... bring on the bloodsucking (I'll pull a Marius-vigilantism method of feeding if my soul stays/doesn't exist and I don't go insane). If it guarantees damnation cause there actually are souls and hell is real... then yikes, on so many levels.

If I’m being honest, being the only poc in an all white gathering (especially if everyone is very wealthy through generations) I would be on edge the entire time. I know I’m late, but as the daughter of a retired banker, whose mother had lots of great stories from work. Honestly, I would’ve thought they were trying to kill me, but not a vampire/ monster/ supernatural thing, but to eliminate me, a long lost relative, from being able to claim against an obviously very large will/ estate.

i went to see this movie with some friends expecting it to have a lot of horror and be scary but was disappointed that it had more romance than horror and we were all disappointed still an okay movie we gave it a 4 out of 10
