@@emsf1354 In some ways you are correct... Take a look at those little muscular legs. They can "haul" (run) and are very active, get bored easily, love to play and are very sentient. The key is the owner has to watch their activity like any other little long body dog and those with little pug like faces. As long as their is no respiratory or breathing problems, primarily from inter-breeding, TODAY, they will keep you on your feet. As long as you keep them occupied, watch their weight, and train them well for their time they will go along. Unfortunately media has falsely portrayed them as sluggish and just mope around.

Highly recommend trying to take him out to potty every 2-3 hours instead of using pee pads in the house. It will be such a natural transition to him asking to go out by himself and prevent accidents a lot more quickly than if you use pee pads. I love bulldogs so much and have had them in my family since I was little too, so I am so excited you have a new bully addition to your household! Welcome Winston! ❤

Bulldogs are a great breed. So snugggglyyyy. Though I do support breeding efforts to return their faces to a more historic profile. Just a little less smooshed to avoid potential issues. But I’m glad yours have all been fine!
I don’t know if this will work for you, as well, but my sister and I inadvertently discovered a very useful trick for dogs: choose a lullaby type piece of music or song and play it for your puppy as he goes to sleep at night. We did this initially as a way to signal, “Hey, it’s time to wind down and go to sleep!” But the crazy thing is, it taught our dogs that that music = everything is calm and safe.
My puppy is two now, and he is really anxious about storms. You know what calms him immediately? What works better than any homeopathic or prescription med? Playing that music. He hears that music and he calms down immediately.
Anyway, no idea if it would work for your pup, but it’s such an easy thing to do with the potential of huge benefits down the road! ❤

My only advice is to start training straight away, they are never to young to learn. Simple things like sitting, laying down, sitting and waiting when you feed him all that sort of stuff. Anyway he is absolutely gorgeous ❤❤

I’m genuinely relieved to hear it’s just a puppy! At this stage in my life, I’m really not into relationship or family channels. Watching people’s journeys through pregnancy and parenthood is great for them, but it’s just not where I’m at right now. I was worried I might have to stop watching your channel too if it went in that direction, but a puppy is something I can definitely get on board with. I’m truly happy for you!

Aw, Winston is precious! My sincere advice for any dog owner, but especially puppy owners, is to train, train, train. Even if it's just about being polite. You two will be great, especially with so much loving family around you
💯 So many people don't bother to train at all, which sets a dog up for difficulty and isolation for the rest of its life.

As neither of my kids have children of their own either, I do cherish the grandkids I do have from my husband's children all the more. But it does make the animal babies that my daughter has in a class of their own. It is hard to explain, but our need to bond and love and care for others is undeniable. Winston is so precious and that little one on his back in the carrier presenting himself to you in that way was amazing to watch and I am glad it was filmed for others to experience as well. There is something unique in the unconditional love and loss of a grandparent as well and I know this fur baby will help not just comfort you but help flood memories of your grandpa to you as well. Time to pay special attention to securing your boundaries around your property as well. Little ones inside and passing cars as well as your own vehicles coming and going do create real hazards that you need to think about as well. Congratulations and enjoy the new experiences to come!

❤ congrats on the puppy! I carried mine out every single time he ate, played, or did anything, to go potty. Puppies need 18 hours of sleep every day so I crated mine. He has a bed time even to this day. His crate is only for sleeping. Now that he is a year old he will ring a bell on the front door to go out. Consistency is key!!! He is a beautiful puppy 💖

My condolences on your Grandpa passing. Winston is adorable! If you haven't gotten a seatbelt teether, I would highly recommend one. It will keep Winston secured and keep him from moving around except where you belt him in.
I got seat belt tethers for my two Cavies, and they both unlatched themselves in less than 20 minutes into the first ride with them!
@@patriciaf2558, Wow! I have never heard of a dog doing that. I hope they were alright. Thankfully both of mine stay teethered. My little girl does try to climb out of her carseat but can't get very far. My big boy just sits there and stares out the back window.
I do not recommend any that are attacked to the dog's neck. If you get in an accident it will break the dog's neck. It isn't worth it.

@janetbrannon5245 I have a carseat that is strapped into a seat belt and has a tether that attaches to their harness. Collars are not good to use on dogs period. Not even with leashes.

Awww he is so stinkin cute! He has blue merle markings, and those beautiful blue eyes. I had a maltipoo that was a blue merle...sweetest lil thing ever. She was a puppy mill rescue, and she had been used for breading. She was pitiful when I got her, all she had ever known was pain and hunger. It took me almost two years to get her to sit in my lap and face me. I had her fore 6 years, and it nearly did me in when she died...but I know I gave her an amazing life full of good food, great toys, and so, so much love. There will never be another Harper.
I think one of the most important things to do is train your puppy. Also, don't allow behaviors as a puppy that you wouldn't like your adult dog to have. So, don't let your puppy use you as a chew toy because you don't want your adult dog biting you. And please, lots of Winston in your videos. He is adorable. ❤

Door bells so he can tell you when he needs to go outside. They are fabulous. No accidents. Took 2 days to get the dog to do it. Just ring the bell and say, let’s go potty and open the door. He will do it on his own after a few times. Good luck!

Aww.....Winston is adorable! The first thing you should do if you haven't already is get your baby 'Chipped' at the Vet. If God forbid someone would accidently let him out you would more than likely never get him back. After I retired from Corporate America I had a dog walking business in Dallas for 8 years and I can't tell you how many times this happened to one of my Clients over the years. Either the pool guy the yard guy one of their kids, etc. not paying attention. Winston is your baby boy who just happens to have 2 extra legs. I'm SO happy for you! You'll be a GREAT Daddy and Winston is one lucky little guy!
