I fully understand your comments on the weight of the lay-up on the early westerly yachts. I have a westerly 25 and shes built like a tank !!!. Shes a good sea boat because she is so heavily built and sits very well on the sand at the turn of each tide , looking altogether more at home and comfortable than some of the more modern yachts. I intend to restore her whilst enjoying sailing her about over the coming years.... she has a reassuring charm of reliability only to be found in some of the older boats i feel.... thanks for the video...

So, I'm not wrong after all. I have four Westerlies - 2 Cirrus, a Nomad and a Tiger. Why? Because I just love working on them and keeping them in different places. Some, have a woman in different ports, I have little Westerlies. Just for the record - the Tiger is near Budapest about to go down the Danube to the Black sea and beyond, one Cirrus is in Toulon and the other two are in Northumberland waiting for me to give up work. The Nomad still has the original MD1 which needs to come out and wil probably be replaced with the 1GM10. All have brand new sails from Crusader sails, Poole. The Nomad has tan sails. All have Selden roller reefing. They really are well made boats that are being very carefully modernised and restored. I live in Germany and love moving freely throughout Europe.

I spoke to David yesterday just outside this shop and briefly discussed the Nomad with him!

Dave Hardy.. for the fine old sailor, builder and 'no it all' you are,I hereby grant to you a second lifetime. At your birthing bedside you will find a magic pair of red pant straps that will transform to your size as you grow... plus if you wonder out to the barn, behind the tractor you will find a a one owner restored Westerly from 1965 . All the needed sails, paints, and yard hours will be prepaid, and the local inn will have your brew choice prepaid on my tab , and all your new customer's will prepay their orders and maintain their yard space immaculately.... just because you are who you are .

Marina fees, decides how boat fares and survives.
