Hell yeah boys.... That was a damn good day in the woods, hanging out with the spirit of the o'l man. I always embrace that feeling, the chill and goosebumps are all welcomed with open arms .... Mr .Nugent knows that feeling well, so well he wrote a song about it.... "The spirit of the wild/ Fred Bear" and I'm sure it's YOUR song, as it is for many of us that have joined the club.
Thanks for the awesome comment Norman! You know just as well as we do how powerful our Dad’s spirit can be in those woods. Our guiding light in those mountains, helping us find our successes and experience amazing things along the way!
@@WanderingWhitetails I got a good one for ya.... The other day my youngest son and I where getting ready to head out and do some still hunting and to scout a new spot along some standing corn fields with thick fence rows dividing the fields, as I'm getting my jacket on at the house I through out my lower back and just about hit the floor.... My son asked if I was ok, and I had to catch my breath for a min before I could answer him.... As the thoughts are going 100 mph in my head about how perfect the weather and wind will be and now I mess my back up🙄, so I responded to him and said yeah I'm good "in a low painful voice" but you're going to need to step up and walk point today because I'm not going to be very helpful... So I carried his muzzle loader as he was doing a fine job of looking, watching, and listening, then take a few well placed steps 15-20 yards at a time... Then it happened, HE gave me the stop hand signal low at his knee and he froze for a few seconds, then he gave me the hand signal that meant slow and easy.... As I started his way (only 10 yards) I couldn't see a deer in the fence row so I thought it might be just the other side of it along side the other corn field, I still can't see what he is looking at, wind is perfect as I'm get along side of him... He points do you see him? No more than 8 feet away was a beautiful red fox and he was sitting and watching the corn.... Then he seemed to feel our eyes burning a hole in him and he turned and looked at us and totally gave that look of HOW DID YOU SNEAK UP ON ME and took a few bounds into the corn....I told my son well you just won the day, I've only been able to slip into a fox once in my life and you just pulled it off.... That 7 year old lit up with a sense of Joy I've never seen before. And then he said thanks to poppa Norm.... That's his grand father he didn't get a chance to meet, but knows that he is the one that I learned it from and that he walks with us every time we head out on a adventure.
