Years and years years ago, my first rare 50p was a Kew. Since then, apart from a 1992 BU EU 50p, I've had zilch of interest. When it comes to pennies, I found a rare one that I'm keeping quiet about, but I want another.
I've always found that coins, to be worth anything, have to be in tip-top condition, unless they are extremely rare in date and mintage. Even if a coin is badly worn, but you can make out the date and monarch, if it's rare it is still worth money. If someone wants it they will pay for it. Most coin dealers will knock coins no matter how good they are. If you don't understand them, and If they think you're desperate to sell, they will shaft you! Be extremely careful when selling your coins, get expert advice from an independent valuer and put them through auction. I find some, not all, coin dealers to be 'up it' when you ask a question about coins. They think they are superior and above you. I've been in a few coin shops over the years and the shop owners are very aloof with you. To say you could be a potential longterm customer this is very poor customer skills. My family have been in business over 116 years and this is due to quality and excellent customer service skills.
Thanks for being such a great teacher ! If I have anything worth shareing that may add to info here I certainly will.😁 Now I'll be looking for the tips you mentioned here. I'm also starting to get into learning about Chinese coins.
I love looking through the old varieties, Awesome coin indeed thank you so much with the comparison on these Pennies. Sorry i have not been around. I will love to join to in your stream again. Please keep well and keep safe my good friend. Also have a great weekend. i need to send you out my new channel sticker if you like me to.
@@CoinPatrol hi my father in law has got loads of coins not just england coins america coins lincoln one cent coins and quater doller coins five cent coins
Thanks Paul. I have found this very interesting and you have made such a good job of differentiating between the two. I have still not watched all your videos but perhaps most of them but I find it difficult to watch your shows and concentrate on a lap full of coinage! I'll bet I am not the only one who has felt the strong compulsion to get all the bags, boxes, and tins out once they have started watching. your videos. Any road, IU am subscribed now I can keep up with you. Might be good if you had a show and tell one; get everyone to contribute their favorites.
Another way to identify which coin is which is to look at the King's forehead. On the unmodified effigy the forehead is concave. On the modified version it is smooth. The ear on the modified version is also rounder and usually worn away at top on well circulated coins.Happy hunting everyone.
Only have 2 old pennies 😅 1937 and 1961 one from my mams birth year and the other from mine need to get one from 1935 for my dad's next. Nice video stay safe and keep hunt 👍
Hi my name is Mick. I am not a collector ,but I have had some coins well over 40 years ,they were tuck away in my attic for over 35 years just move house in the last 12 months ,have found the coin you were talking about among the coins just a little confused ,about the difference between the 1927 / 1926 the 1926 seems to tick all the boxes to the one you portrait in your you tube comment . is it possible to deal with you .I can send you a photo ,I have been around since 1938
I have the modified 1926 penny. I usually identify it by the colon by the letter A at the top of the coin, but now I can identify it in other ways, so thank you 😉
Very informative but I don't think I've ever seen coins achieve those prices.I think a real average price guide should be printed as people get excited when they think their old pennies are worth a fortune...save a few of course.
Hi Paul it so wonderful to look this vedio of old pennies.Help me to join it because i also have lots of pennies i want to sell them.Thank you very much
Hi Paul, while watching this I'm glad I've never got rid of any spares, something else to look for. Thank you.
