    That 1916 penny could have spent its life in a child's forgotten money box, saving itself a lot of wear and tear. My dad had a money box that his mum had sitting in her house somewhere until she died. Inside were all sorts of out of date coins which he reckoned had been sitting there for over 20 years.

    At 12:43 you had a 1926 & 1918 farthings, after 1918 when the Gold standard was dropped, farthings ceased to be blackened. Your 1926 farthing seems to be the same colour as the 1918, was the 1926, struck from a blackened blank? and if so does this make it a rare variety?

    That was an incredible eBay find. I live in Canada, so they're a lot less common and a lot more expensive to get British coins here (especially the predecimal), so maybe I'm just used to seeing higher prices, but the values you're estimating are way below any I've ever come across!

    • @jfryer485
      @jfryer485 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A nice selection of British coins well worth the money.
      Just a few in good grades of interest to a collector.
      The 1916 penny is excellent and possibly given by somebody who saved it as new.
      It certainly doesn’t fit with others of the similar dates that are in poor condition.
      Low values would be a temptation to save but as you go up there is a temptation to use as money when hard up.
      I made a similar set when a boy and the condition would be the same, so I guess it was from an estate after someone passed away.
      Certainly undersold at 12 pounds when you look at some silly asking prices

    That 1916 penny is incredible condition, if it has signs of some type of wear I would find it hard to believe and maybe polished, when you said about over or under valuing, I said to myself a lot of the coins seem to have been cleaned. Stick to collecting coins and leave chemistry to the experts
    Also as far as the coins go
    The ones you claimed to be messed up by the pvc
    They where not it was very obvious on most of them coins that the planchet was damaged before being stored
